For a second I thought you were talking as if you bought the BDs too... I do hope you did. Come up north some time and let's watch it together!

I wish I could've bought them but heck. You people down there have it easier on technological products than we have up here it seems (or so I heard from a colleague) :|

Still, that BD Touma is still smug as he is when he made his "Heroic Entrance" (no punching on the face right when he got there so no "Dynamic Entry" for him, heheh)

Sadly that's not always the case.

Shaft is famous for doing that, but J.C. Staff just recently begun with that process (I'm very glad they finally did, they have episodes with lame quality in many of their series.)

There are alot of studios that do that- My first experience with this kind of horror was SevenArc's Nanoha StrikerS, and it didn't take them long as well. Big names like Sunrise have their low moments as well.

But to be fair, it's not that Studios want to do this, but they have a deadline to meet, and they have to meet it even if it means cutting corners.

About the deadline problem, you would think that, but... J.C. Staff almost always has a shift in quality around episode 10, yet they don't seem to take measures against that.

More than a time problem, I think it's a budget problem. Better quality has more impact at the beginning and at the end of the series, they probably judge that it can drop a bit at the middle without losing much rating, so they distribute the time used and number of animators working per episode to fit that pattern.

But as you said, I don't mind that too much as long as the dvd/bd has better quality.

Whether it's on purpose or not, better quality in the dvd/bd releases improves the sales. It also gives an advantage against pirate dvd/bd, at least those based on the tv version, and let's be honest, there's way too much piracy...

That seem to be the common belief among Anime watchers, but that doesn't explain why this happens to every other show no matter which studio they're being produced by. You think Sunrise doesn't have the budget for Code Geass and Gundam(s)? Shaft (after their money making success with Madoka) doesn't have the budget for denpa onna?

Bah... In the end, I can't say I'm confident in my knowledge of the workings of Anime studio, so I'll just put a stop to this conversation

Dammit, I wanted to take a few draws when I went to Akiba today, but I was in a hurry, so I didn't.

I'm kind of regretting it.
