For all the low projected disc sales, Bandai-Namco seems to put a LOT of effort trying to publicize the game. It's ridiculous, following Twitter alone:

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

The production seriously wants this venture to succeed, it seems.

Was it a part of a campaign to promote the setting inspiration of the anime and/or yosakoi, I wonder.

While I'd say so much is because Hana wasn't willing to explain her situation to either side, I'm not surprised. As Yaya put it early "Hana is an idiot" . Not wanting to upset either side just let the situation drag on until it was right at the last minute. Absolutely the wrong call though. She ends up hurting herself and hurting her friends by literally vanishing overnight on them. And really when her parents find out it's probably going to be rough on them to.

But again, people make mistakes when put under pressure.

Oh well, in the end things will kind of work out ok. Her dad is still in Japan so she can fly back on her own for the performance and then head on back with him. She may need to be there for a while to get everything set up transfer wise, but a couple days should be fine with the anime gods .

One thing I can appreciate with this group is how interconnected they are. It's not like one person is has the most powerful bond with every single member. Hana has strong connections with Naru and Yaya, but not quite so much Tami or Machi. Naru comes close being closely tied in with Yaya, Hana, and Tami. Tami with Machi and Naru, etc. Depending on who is getting the focus different girls will rise to prominence. Of course the more time they spend in a group the more they can strengthen all their bonds, but it certainly stood out for a good part of the show.

Kind of ironic to say after this last episode, but still felt like throwing that out there.

This is how I felt as I was watching the finale:

Beautiful episode/finale and in general overall series. Thank You Madhouse.

Ep 12

Sure enough though ... it was through Hana's Papa that Hana came back (though at the Yosakoi club's "instigation"), and Mama was all for Hana dancing and staying in Japan a bit more. Although you know ... a same-day ticket for Japan from the US is expensive! Her mom is obviously doing pretty well for herself! I also liked the touch of how Hana's parkour training and the police man from ep 1 figured in as useful again. Always like it when seeming side characters come back again later on in a series. ^^

Naru's dad worships the ground on which she walks! And well he should in my opinion, she is a wonderful young lady who is slowly growing up and coming into her own ... "broadening her world" as he rightly pointed out. And it is also nice to see it in her supporting the other members.

I liked the touch of the band members coming to Yaya's yosakoi performance - kinda sweet of them. Same thing with the parents of Naru, Hana and Tami.

It was great to see more of the full performance, though on a personal note I would have preferred it "uninterrupted". Such a nice "happy ending", though ... dangit - my face is hurting from grinning so much! I wonder if the BD's will come with an uninterrupted performance thereof?

Great series - extremely enjoyable, and to be honest my favorite of the season. Many thanks to all who helped to produce it (on the super rare chance any of you might actually read this).

I really like this show.

Is there enough in the source material to support a second season?

If not, at least there'll be the game to keep an eye on. (Even if the odds may not be great on Bamco bringing it over...)

No bad, but I didn't like some of the changes they did.

Spoiler for anime-manga comparison:

But well, although I would have liked a more faithful adaption, this wasn't half bad. It's just that it could have been a lot better.

Look like the ED song of ep.12 is sung by the VAs of 5 main characters this time.

That's perfect ending for anime version, I guess. All problem and conflict between main characters and side characters are fixed in this final ep. too.

I will write more later......

That was pretty much the perfect ending. Sure, Hana arriving in the nick of time to join in on stage could be seen as a bit corny, but I don't care, I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff and I threw my hands in the air and cried "YES!"

Really well done, perfect ending, really there's nothing they can do to follow it.

Great show.

Decent last episode.

Kind of iffy about Hana arriving in the middle instead of the start.
Like the crowd was like "oh only 4 people, how sad" And somehow 5 people makes it okay? oh well.

Too bad about the low disc sales, thought the directing for the series was good. It knew what kind of story it wanted to tell, and what kind of characters are in the story, and it stayed true to its purpose.

All in all a pretty good show.

The Hana arrival is one of those things where it has positives whichever way you tackle it. Arriving in the nick of time before they go up is good, has consistency. But of course in the anime format think you can really make something work with the more action packed scene of her racing to get there and leap onto the stage. I think this way works pretty well since the group has the strength to carry on even if Hana doesn't quite make it.

I had fun with this one. I wouldn't say it's my favorite of the season, but it was a good ride from start to finish. The group was pretty likable, the visuals were really nice and this kind of show works great when you can add the music on top of it.

Not unexpected how things worked out with Hana, though I kind of thought she'd just go home after. I mean it's hard to say spending time with her mother is as precious as spending time with her friends and then saying "I'm not going to be living with you until I'm done school here." Kind of looking like a bad call by her mother to take the different position at work now .

But yeah, I enjoyed this one. Just a very bright and entertaining show.

wonderfully done show ^^ ...

too bad about the sales if what i read from other posters is correct ..sigh.

anyway Naru was too cute around 8:54 when the 4 of them were practicing before their performance... she hopping & doing a pirouette on 1 foot, wished I saw that during the actual performance .. like Flower-san wished we could have seen the full performance

but anyway it was a nice ride all throughout.

"It's not how you start but how you finish" right?

Hanayamata went out with a bang. That was seriously the perfect ending. So beautiful. Hearing Naru's VA being tearfully happy throughout just amplified all the feels. ;_;

This officially joined my ranks of "cute girls anime with a perfect ending" along with Kiniro Mosaic and K-ON.

Truly wonderful show, though the whole dramatic leave of Hana and her expected re-entrance halfway through the dance wasn't really needed, IMO. Now I know I'm probably not the best person to say this (as I have often trouble expressing what it is I really want, too), but most of the drama could have been avoided if the girls just communicated with parents about their own dreams and desires more, instead of leading them on and hurting themselves (and their friends) in the process.

Oh well, like I said, I enjoyed the show overall, and it's probably all we'll ever get from this (unless it does other things really well, like making yosakoi more popular and such), so I guess I can't really complain all that much. Plus, I liked how seamless Hana managed to fit in right in the middle of the dance without messing up the choreography. Also liked how the girls' parents turned up and be awestruck at their daughters' performance, not to mention Machi already planning ahead for the cultural festival.

I really liked how it ends, a very underrated show this summer to be honest. The way Hana entered the stage for me have a positive effect, since it's making the show having more excitement on that way, just imagine that she's already there before their turn... I think it's more boring if that would be the way,its only just like their usual practice before, not unlike having a spectacular entrance wherein the audience also amazed on that part.
