Well he called her being undead, not dead. The usual zombei is just mindless, but in her case she still can think, might be cuz she is already 200 years old for some reason (probably the girmoar) so the effects of the grimoar made her become more then just zombei.

Is it just me or the name of the next town sounded like "Yes-men port"?

I so want Sainte Jeanne D`Arc to meet Favaro soon.

That is not what I found hard to believe, I was talking about the his idea that they outsourced it, so that they could focus on episode 4. And yeah the anime has big budget, but the Korean studio who did this episode is famous for being unusually good. https://twitter.com/crazynabe/status/523469461483827200

We get that part of tale we get Favaro's backstory since he Kaisar's past are intertwined after all.

However, I'm guessing that Rita was going to be alright after all somehow (perhaps she was already undead seeing as she still looks like a little kid despite being over two centuries old.), and she's become Kaiser's own supernatural companion.
I like how our cast is turning out to be a unsavory lot. In one group we have a amoral mercenary and supposed demon. In the other a disgraced knight now turned mercenary and with a recent added undead loli necromancer. What's next?

I can't wait for ep 4 either. It's suppose to be really awesome, so I'm expecting animation levels be at ep 1's again.

Here:
http://shingekinobahamut-genesis.jp/...tail.php?id=03

The studio is Dr.Movie and episode director is Kim Dong jun.

I've actually known about this for a week and I was rather worried how this episode would look. Thankfully it turns out it the my anxiety was for naught. The atmosphere and music was especially great for setting the mood. It was kinda of like a Halloween tale.

Reason for budget - it has the revenue of a game franchise at its back, and not what it can get from manga/LN publishers. With that, it certainly doesn't hurt Geneon and Funimation any since the material already has deep pockets so they don't have to fork over nearly as much, which ends up as less stress for everyone (yay!). And it seems as though they are managing this with the correct amount of oversight so as to ensure a quality product without micromanaging the studio(s) and director.

And the soundtrack is freaking awesome. Definitely buying it. This can only look better in BD format.

Favarooooooooooooooooooooo! Doll edition!

Hah, this episode just confirmed some of my main suspicions.
Damn Favaro, he didn't think twice about offing Amira, but he gotta do what he can to rescue the guy who's hunting him. Bros before hoes or so the saying goes.
Kaisar, can't you see that despite everything that jerk still cares for you? Yet, your top priority was getting yourself a loli (albeit not a lively one) and being tsundere about it. Talk about being a knight.

He called her a "dead person", and called the zombies "undead" (literally). Not that it means anything, it's probably some weird distinctions he made up on the fly.

No! It didn't even last 3 minutes, yet we got to take a good shot of Cerberus' ears and twintails in the middle of it. So, it quite made the episode for me.

What are you even talking about? It means what it means, she's the key = she can open whatever this key is supposed to unseal herself and whatever comes with it.
Considering the title of the series, what we got in the two PVs (the most relevant parts are used in the OP, to crown it all) and what Mickey and his minions are so scared of, it's not really a mystery to anyone what the real nature of this key is.
i.e : the entire plot was already delivered to us on a silver plate, so technically speaking, there already is nothing left for the end, unless a massive tweest happens midway.

And didn't Walking Dead S5 premiere just last week? It's zombie month this year. Halloween coming too.

I had a feeling that he would find some way to take the necromancer with him. Now both he and Favoro have a companion that is supernatural. In one of the main groups a bounty hunter and a so called demon and in the other a former knight and undead necromancer loli. So apparently Amira is now the key and I'm glad that it seems like she won't just turn into her demon form against every opponent.

Ep 03

Not bad, not bad. I figured the kiddo was the bounty Favaro would try to cash in on, though she kinda was and was not at the same time.

Hmm. Kinda like the fact Kaiser has a (powerful?) companion with him now as well.

To add to this, it looks like Favaro and Kaisar may known each other for a longer then we thought.

Ohh, nice catch!! I didn't notice that.

If that's really Favaro then it does seem like my theory that Kaisar & Favaro used to be friends is correct... this is why Kaisar is so obsessed with Favaro, because he feels that Favaro betrayed him. (Okay, so this wouldn't be a surprising turn of events, but still. )

If she's 200odd years old (and therefore a legal loli!) she's probably got some immortality which prevents her becoming a zombie.

I was amused by the mention of Pazuzu earlier in the episode, as that's the demon from "The Exorcist".

Presumably Amira didn't transform to take out the zombies because she didn't need to, so why waste her energy?

Great episode, I guess the game must rake in enough money that they can throw a big budget at this show, it's almost a shame the episode wasn't closer to hallowe'en as the big reveal was very well done.

Kaisar probably leaked the info about his father's mission somehow.

I really like Rita. She's unusually...kind for someone that's been through what she has. She also found a kindred spirit in Kaisar. I never expected that Kaisar would end up with his own traveling companion. It was looking like he'd end up being a third wheel/gold-fish feces, but I'm looking forward to his interplay with Rita (who is dead and not undead.)

What's the distinction? You are supposed to be respectful of the dead, and destroy the undead. Rita's life being a sad story, combined with the fact that she is not a bad person herself and apparently not dangerous allows him to compromise like that.

I like him. He knows what he stands for and in Rita's case, there is a clear conflict of interest, so he reconciles it with a double standard rooted in a technicality.

So what else?

I liked how Favaro used his sword as footing for rock climbing. That's kind of hardcore.

Also liked how Amira can partially transform. I was under the impression that her ability to transform was elaborate or gated in some manner, but it seems there really are degrees.

Rita kept a doll that bore a resemblance to Favaro. When he was waking up, Kaisar mistook the doll for him lol

It seems likely that the town was reliving it's final days in a cycle as Favaro's and Amira's arrival seemed like a coincidence.

I don't believe Kaisar was in any real danger. Rita seemed to have actually helped him, and only hid the fact that it was all an illusion, even if she dropped some pretty major hints for him. The reason why she lied to him about his arm was to prevent his bracelet from glowing, and spoiling everything.

Revealing that Amira is a mystery to even the gods and demons is important. It shows that she was no one until she took the god key.

P.S. I look forward to the day that Jeane cuts her hair.

So, Arima is a Nephalem? They pretty much confirmed her parents having both heavenly and demonic attributes.

I just noticed that. So they were friends as children, or they were at least familiar with each other. I'm wondering if perhaps what happened was that Favaro found out about Kaisar's father's mission and mouthed it off to his father who was the bandit that ambushed them and stole the tribute. Kaisar blames his Favaro since he was the unknowing informant.

Well she seems have both attributes but her parents probably had one or the other. Her mother a least looks to be of the gods. And then there is her relation to that knight, Lavalley...

i would like an explanation as to why the zombies bit rita while she had the book in her hand and why rita became a half-way zombie and then just decided to turn back. the second kind of implies that she has some sort of zombie form that she can become or something like amira's demon form.

I wonder if it's significant that in the incredibly simple made-up script they use in this show...

Spoiler for Hmm...:

The letters are all English capital letters, doubled-up and superimposed on top of each other in some random fashion. With enough squinting it's actually quite easy to read; Amira and Favaro's wanted posters actually do say 'Wanted' and 'Dead / Alive' on them, for instance.

The reason why the zombie bit her was that as long as she had control of them they wouldn't harm her, but when she saw Kaiser going after her parents, her control over them slipped. You can see it because the zombies stopped attacking when she ran to shield them. Without her control, the zombies just see her as another meal, and thus why she was bitten.

I don't exactly know how Rita got better, but it probably has something to do with the fact that she still looks like a little girl despite being over two centuries old.

the first is a bit hard to accept when she has been using that book for over 200 years

It was probably an illusion. She was already a zombie, and had already been bitten. Possibly many times under those exact same circumstances. The village was likely stuck in a repeating cycle. Trolls attack village, "kill" everyone, Rita revives them, where she is then attacked herself by her parents restarting the cycle.
