Episode 1:

For a Haoliners Animation show, I didn't think the animation was bad at all. Nothing groundbreaking but certainly works for this series.

They didn't waste time introducing the centaur girls and others. Between the characters, Nozomi is the most intimidating the scariest so far. It's a pretty fun show with a normal school life setting except all the characters aren't human. It takes risks to adapt a show like this but I think it worked out well so far. Himeno is also really cute imo for a centaur.

Good start so far.

It was quite standard SoL for the most part. But, as people promissed, they added some serious staff here and there. Also, the ED was great.

Well damn, they skipped most perverted chapter. Still, the stills of the enslaved, killed and imprisoned different human races were pretty nice, same with their misconception that humanity would be more peaceful if they had "only" different skin color, eye color and hair color. The whole "equality above civil rights and even life" while government officials are watching and the kids talking so casually about correctional clinics and being arrested for this and that, means the kids are living in a totalitarian state where the most important thing is to keep things "fair and peaceful" between the different races, thus centaurs have their own races as they would always win against non-centaurs in such events.

Can't wait for the snake people to make their apperance, given that they are not included in the four categories, I guess this means they are "non-humans", a different intelligent race than humans at the same time on earth, very interesting.

ED is about Tama-chan! The anime's creators know who best girl is.

This went pretty well. I think they made a good choice to skip chapter 0: I know that introduction turned some people off to the manga, and I am certain it would have done the same here. Maybe it can show up later once we've established the status quo, but we don't need it to be the first thing people see about this series.

Welcome to the world of Centaur no Nayami, where Humans (and almost all known Earth-based life, actually) evolved from six-limbed creatures into a huge variety of unusual forms, and where regulations ensuring racial equality take precedence over what we would consider fundamental Human rights. As far as these girls are concerned this is simply the way things are, and there's nothing out of the ordinary about having government agents watching your class during lectures to ensure you aren't preaching anything contrary to the party-line.

After which point I bought the official releases (which are past that point) and have been following it through them. Besides, everything went back to normal a few chapters before the translators decided to give up on it: they just panicked because they thought the weirdness that had happened was going to turn into the norm for the series (they were wrong, btw).

This show may actually be my favorite this season, or certainly near the top. The only problem was the overblown yuri-bait at the very start. The people they sent running for the hills would probably have enjoyed the rest of the episode, and the people who were excited for it would be bored by the rest. They could have been just a little more subtle with camera angles and it would have been less jarring.

While not up to the level of Demi-chan, it is still nice to see a monster anime that is not fapping material (unless you have some rather special tastes, I'd say). A decent range of races, although I am surprised by the inclusion of what seems like angel and demon archetypes rather than more naturalistic bird and bat types. Well, that is the source material no doubt. It just seems weird in a story that includes a biology lecture to justify the races. The political aspect is interesting and something I expect to see appearing in various forms as the series progresses - there is a lot of potential there.

Hime-chan seems like a friendly and well-rounded character, possibly a bit shallow but there is still plenty of time to get under the surface and learn what more she hides. In a world where you can be arrested for talking about riding, appearances may deceive.

This is kinda my feeling too ... but I am more than willing to give future eps a try simply because they may get all that nonsense out of the way and the rest of the material will (hopefully) be like the second half, which to me is MUCH more representative of the manga as a whole.

So will def give the next few eps a go.

Well that was way better than I was expecting. Also a Yuri kiss in the first 30 seconds... was not on my expectations. I do like the fact that dispite being a fairly gentle going slice of life for the most part, there more than subtle hint that this is a setting with serous serous issues under the surface, should give the show some meat to work with.

Confirming this as a keeper anyhow.

Looks to be interesting. I've long been interested in the Japanese take on prejudice and equality, particularly since in many senses it's something that they're largely sheltered from and thus are to an extent just looking from the outside. The other demi-human series have had some definite touches on the matter, but this one looks like it's going to dive right in. Actually it feels a bit like a commentary on recent trends in the West, and the idiocy of trying to "enforce" equality and nondiscrimination. It's like trying to get a horse to carry a pack up a hill by beating it... with a cudgel... and continuing long after it's died.

there is plenty of Japanese Discrimination.

Look up the even modern treatment of Koreans. Or the general attitude toward gaijin

^ Most japanese have never met this problem though. It's not about the japanese being people that are open to eveyone, nor about them being cold blooed scum. In Japan there just aren't enough foreigners (different races) for this problem to get noticed. If all the people you ever meet are the same race as you, things like equality of races and discrimination just become more of phylosophical question than something you would feel concerned about.
