Max is the only one who has no way to defend himself against the "Horde"

The problem is only he and Irish have the skills to hack the IS field in the academy to disable the IS units at least temporarily.

On-fic: While there isn't any reviews for Chapter 7 yet, I still wonder if I managed to pull off the battle scene decently

He has to be caught unaware. The point of the beginning is none of the protags are aware of what's happening and get attacked without any proper gear so having him be in the Minerva pretty much means he's protected already and has a huge advantage.

It has to be a point in time where the Minerva is very hard to access/get to.
