Sorry to intrude, I thought it could be this :

http://forums.animesuki.com/images/a...misc/cross.png

That's the url to the graphic of the small red cross you have to press if you don't want to see the message of the scavenger hunt thing.

"Brave adventurers always seeked me out,
For I was the symbol of treasure." -> pretty obvious so far, a red cross.
"Sad I am now, stranger in a foreign land." -> a graphic in a message
"My purpose, reversed. My will, no longer my own." -> purpose is to NOT try and find the answer, and the will is of course the one of the reader.

Anyway, kthxbye.

That was a really nice answer, unfortunetly it’s not it; but it was clever.

Totally missed my own riddle being solved. V_V; too easy, huh?

Also, I think I have they key to solving #1 riddle, only I'm not imaginative enough to use it.
So let's share: How would you use modular arithmetic to solve this?
This idea matches with the lack of division and subtraction but still cuts down to size, also the hint NW made with reference to the cyclical nature of the clock is the same.

Also, I think that the anomalies (from the find the difference game in the picture) are 5, but I don't know how to use any of the numbers.

What do you guys think?

Riddle 14

http://www.animesuki.com/mirrors.php

Mirrors served a very specific purpose in the early days, and allowed "adventurers" to get to the "treasure" on the site even if it went down. Now, however, their purpose has been subverted.

PS - These riddles are brilliant, by the way. Well done!

Normally I wouldn’t answer to posts like this, but it’s been such a long time (5 months) and no hints lately (and NW older hints might have confused you) so you guys could use a push. Yes, it does involve modular arithmetic. Good luck.

I'm going literally insane with this...

I've tried mod 12 and 24, bunch of different combinations of either adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing, either going forward or back with the numbers (like if it's the kingdom, I go clockwise, and if its the monsters remaining, I go back counterclockwise), counting in different ways with patterns of movement, taking in the fact that the anomaly is either 6 or 7, and that the unlucky number is 4 or 13, yet I'm still coming out with nothing, at least not a person with more than 100 posts. The only thing I haven't tried that I've thought of is taking the other measurements of time seriously, but it says it's irrelevant so I'm not sure.

Hats off to the person who gets it, I'll be very impressed.

I'm officially giving felix the achievement "Master at giving near-impossible riddles" I've tried many combinations to solve both of these riddles, but something doesn't add up in any of my guesses.

Perhaps http://forums.animesuki.com/album.php?albumid=245? Got it by adding the numbers together.

Or these four in particular?

http://forums.animesuki.com/album.ph...pictureid=2171
http://forums.animesuki.com/album.ph...pictureid=2170
http://forums.animesuki.com/album.ph...pictureid=2169

Sorry for violating the three link rule, so if need be, eliminate my 2nd and 5th guesses (going in order from top to bottom).

I don't know much about Haruhi, but some quick wikipedia-ing revealed that she was involved in some supernatural stuff and therefore the origin of tales. And she does eventually vanish.

@felix: Damn

Oh and I don't think it's fair to have all of felix's riddles last to the end. First one is fine but this one is surely not as hard. He has expressed his disinterest in winning for the money or rep, but surely the achievement itself still retains some value--knowing that he is the best at riddles here on AS (or at least out of the people who participated) I'd just appreciate a hint and a day or two and that's it, but at this point it's perfectly fine to end 14 because no one bothered to inquire about the riddle for a whole week (myself included ).

Ok.

Spoiler for answer to 14:

See, it was really easy. The point of the riddle was to see if you would find the needle in a haystack of needles (ie. there are 3,639,028 posts on the forum with the button, and all of them were correct answers).

That's actually a hack, the link will actually access: http://forums.animesuki.com/album.php?albumid=11 (everything after the dot is ignored). Very strange by Vb to process it like that, it should give you an error or 404 not try to guess, which would generate duplicate content issues for search engines. It also opens the forum for an attack since someone with malicious intent could create a bunch of links pointing to the site using the dot notation, search engines would tend de-rank this site to hell for having duplicate content.

Are you serious? I literally guessed that it's just since each post has it's own report link and the riddle definitely was not specific enough to identify one post/person, I discounted the report thing...xD Great riddle though

Sometimes the best answers are the simplest ones.
