Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings (Special), Expectations and Speculation

There was a recent announcement about an Ah! My Goddess TV special to be aired this winter.

Quote:
an Aa— Megamisama— Tatakau Tsubasa (Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings) special will air this winter on the TBS network in Japan to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kousuke Fujishima's original romantic comedy manga. Director Hiroaki Gohda will select story installments that were not animated in the previous television series.
This does not really seem to fit under any of the existing threads, so perhaps a new one is in order?

An episode discussion thread (with poll) will be created when the episode actually airs (at this time AnimeSuki will consider it as unlicensed) so please use this thread to discuss your expectations of the announced special.

If they do not progress the Keichii-Belldandy relationship further with this one -- the chances of a 3rd season becomes slimmer.

I hope this means that they are going to continue to animate more from the Ah! My Goddess manga. Hopefully, not the boring parts but the relationship between Belldandy and K1.

The name somewhat implies that there is action going on. Hope I am not wrong.

The title makes me think about Lind and Angel Eater arc. However, there are rumours that those special episodes will be based on PS2 game story. Both would be nice as long as they don't forget about the characters besides K1 and Bell.

Hmmmm, I don't know what to expect, but if there's Lind, that's absolute pwnage.

I can see them doing the Angel Eater bit for this, but I'm not sure what this means for the prospects a third season. Obviously, it's not a shortage of material that they are dealing with. I wonder if they are just "stalling" for time until they have some indication of whether the manga will be ending or not. I've seen rumors that the 20th anniversary will shed some light on that, but who knows.

Nice development! At least AMG isn't "technically" ending in the anime sense
with this third (stand-alone) installment.

Thing is. Keiichi isn't a wuss -- when it comes to Belldandy. I mean, the fact that it was difficult for him to tell Bell that he loves her... c'mon. That was a major turn off. To many anime series have sissy males who couldn't do that.

It's either that -- or deliberate stalling. Match up manga to the anime. Keiichi's considerably behind in development. So far behind, it messes with my patience.

hmmm from wat i xpect form the special that wil be released is it'l focus on the angel eater arc....nd by the way....SIDE NOTE: i hope that they won't make the ending of the story where K1 and belldandy wil have to separate....cause it will ruin the good story that they had for nearly 20 yrs.....

Here's my question: is Fujishima still writing this series in Japan? And is it still no forward
progress or momentum? Just more side story to drag it out endlessly?

I'll look forward to any more animated bits but the big problem is that the last I saw,
Keiichi got more action from Bell's sisters than he ever did with Belldandy.

Oh well, I still like the series. But yeah, we need to see Lind. Or something.

He's still writing it, no real progress in the last several chapters. Part of the problem with the manga now is that there is nowhere for Bell and Keiichi to go, except marriage or sleeping together. They're firmly cemented as a couple, have already kissed and live together practically as a married couple. What else is there? Fujishima has essentially hit a brick wall, and knows that breaking through that well essentially means the end of the series, but for some reason would rather just keep dragging this thing out.

To: Js2756,

Well I guess Fujishima wants to keep Bell & Keiichi at 1st base and in college.
Essentially if they both left school and started working in careers, then
marriage, sex, and family is enevitable; not necessarialy in that order!
Just see what happened to the Suzuka manga, the author hit a brick wall,
after breaking the couple up, bringing them back together, breaking up ect...
By the 160th Ch. he made them sleep together and by 167 marriage and
series finnis!

They both have left school and have careers. They are both working for Chihiro at Whirlwind. There really isn't much else now for them to do. Of course, right now Fujishima has basically pulled a semi-reset by having everyone lose their memory, so don't expect any resolution any time soon.

The official site just updated the layout and it now has Lind! I'm hoping that means she will be in it!
