it's too bad then. why did they skip rise from ashes? it was a a best case on first game

or they will make that case as an OVA?.

if they want to skip something, then skip that filler & first case on 2nd game (if this series gonna continue in future).

rise from ashes was a "bonus case" that didn't exist in the original games. AFAIK it was only added from the NDS version on.

Nico doesn't regret watching this show, even though it was soooooo spo--...spora-...uhm, all over the place! The proof everyone looked for was mostly there, but it had super duper hard times holding back its own camp (wait, what's camp anyway? did they build tents?)!

I don't know. I thought that they had an interesting different interpretation of things.

The reason they changed the order was for anime viewers to not know that von Karma did it before it was finally revealed. It was alright. Also... I'm just treating the police force corruption as foreshadowing or perhaps as a nod to AAI2 so that was also totally fine by me.

The breakdown could have been better, but I always laugh when in the anime the characters can really randomly use objections to make each other slam into walls and desks and lose their canes lol...

I think the anime just didn't have enough time to have an uber breakdown. Either way, I actually enjoyed the episode.

Also, I'm actually excited for the filler. It looks pretty good, and I've always hoped for more background on the circumstances of when they first met so this seems awesome as opposed to lame lol.

I'm just still baffled over the last episode. Seriously, it's been almost a week and I'm still in shock of how bad it was. As an adaptation, they could not have downplayed the conflicted with von Karma any more. They gave him a whopping 3 minutes to be "menacing", then gave him a whopping 5 minutes for him to become irrelevant.

So seriously, why are they adapting 2 games? How about running 2 cours and adapting the one game plus the bonus case? If it falls on its ass (kinda like how it's doing right now), then it ends there and interested people can check out the games for further story. If it does well, then you have plenty of content to do other seasons. Adapting 2 of the 3 games in what is a necessary trilogy and leaving out what's mostly agreed on as the most pivotal entry in the original trilogy, it leaves all anime-only viewers basically in the dust.

Overall, the pacing is just crap. They can't pace things properly, so every case they've shown has been infinitely less impactful than their original interpretations. This has easily been the worst show of the season for me, which is so disappointing because it was one of the ones I was most hoping to see succeed.

All I can say about that is if this studio is going to fail I'd rather see them fail with the second game and never get a chance to touch the third one. As much as I'd love a season of the third game, if it doesn't do the game justice it will just ruin the series.

As much as I agree with your sound points, I'm biting my finger in frustration that this is what we have to resort to.

I'm actually replaying the games right now and it's just so...frustrating. The games are filled with so much heart and soul. The anime's filled with pretty much nothing.

Episode 13

Ah, the flashback episode this week. No case but I guess it was somewhat interesting to see Naruhodou and Mitsurugi's past. Also, Mei cameo spotted.

Apparently, Mitsurugi already had that detective vibe going on even during his childhood days.

Whatever faithful memories I have of the game are being replayed through the anime adaptation, and while it may not follow everything in the games, for me, I'm going to enjoy the anime as it is.

Loved the Karma's daughter cameo and I wonder what happened to the puppy.

The Puppy is cut content, although everyone having played rise from the ashes probably got an idea.... Hope they do an OAV of it.

I can't recall when I last had such strong feelings over anime; I strongly felt the urge to kick everyone involved with this trial in the head.

Well this is in the game as well, especially the whole "guilty until proven otherwise" general attitude, but it does stand out more in a dramatized version.

That is more of a Japanese thing apparently. The justice system in Japan does encourage a guilty until proven innocent attitude, with ample powers given to prosecutors to get a guilty veredict.

So A-1 now butchered Miyuki Sawashiro as Franzika. Expected, but still sad...

All those names mean nothing to me lol so I don't get the context.

I kinda wish they did the Karma headbanging scene. And as I said before, he doesn't come across as nearly as 'dangerous' as the game made him seem.

On the flipside, we do get this adorable episode about the trio as young children. For all the shows's flaws, I actually kinda liked this episode.

Looks like both Rise from the Ashes and The Lost Turnabout are completely skipped.

If they only do Reunion and Turnabout, they can conceivably skip the rest of the second game and move straight on to the third. :O I mean I hope they don't do that, but it suddenly became a possibility that they might be able to cram it in if they also skip cases 2 and 3 of the third game.

EDIT: Although if they DO end up skipping cases 2 and 3... Then there will be less time to develop a certain character.

Episode 14:

Not sure what I think about the new theme songs yet but I think they could work out fine. So we get new case and it involves Mayoi this episode. How interesting turn of events with some "supernatural" phenomenon. However, I think there's some foul play going around there as well. Should be interesting to see how they will deal with the case.

Oh and Mayoi looked adorable in her outfit imo.
