Non-Japanese games that have strong anime/manga influnce
So far the strongest non-Japanese game that had anime and manga influence is Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlord for PSP, PS2 and PC. It also have what Japanese games don't have, Tolkien-style fantasy world. Most or perhaps all Japanese games that had fantasy setting are more like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest and I think this game is the best to have both anime/manga influence and Tolkien fantasy world.

Check out Shogo - Mobile Armor Division. As far as I can tell it was American-made. It puts you in the shoes of a mecha pilot (not like MechWarrior; more FPS-style combat) and basically plays out like a typical mecha anime. All the characters have Japanese names and the intro music was jpop if I remember correctly.

Hmm, for something different, there's Hanako Games and Okashi Studios, if I'm not mistaken both companies are 100% western. Fatal Hearts is a pretty decent otome-game, imo.
