Non-Japanese games that have strong anime/manga influnce

So far the strongest non-Japanese game that had anime and manga influence is Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlord for PSP, PS2 and PC. It also have what Japanese games don't have, Tolkien-style fantasy world. Most or perhaps all Japanese games that had fantasy setting are more like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest and I think this game is the best to have both anime/manga influence and Tolkien fantasy world.

Check out Shogo - Mobile Armor Division. As far as I can tell it was American-made. It puts you in the shoes of a mecha pilot (not like MechWarrior; more FPS-style combat) and basically plays out like a typical mecha anime. All the characters have Japanese names and the intro music was jpop if I remember correctly.

There's one western PC RPG game whos name escapes me that I have heard is largely inspired by chrono trigger.

That would be Anachronox. I was going to mention it; but really, it was influenced by JRPGs--not anime/manga in particular.

Well, Puzzle Quest I do find really has nothing to do much with anime/mange either but rather JRPGs in general, so I thought Anachronox deserves a mention.

Also of note is that if you check the names of the cabins on the battleship you'll find they're references to pilots from Macross.

Septerra Core, very nice RPG for the PC.
And of course you have all those Korean and Chinese games that are heavily influenced by japanese games, anime and manga. Best example would be probably Ragnarok Online.

Ragnarok Online is the other way around, just as an FYI. A Korean Manga lead to the game that lead to the Japanese Animation.

Hmm, for something different, there's Hanako Games and Okashi Studios, if I'm not mistaken both companies are 100% western. Fatal Hearts is a pretty decent otome-game, imo.
