There's one thing I don't know for sure about the Uchigane Nishiki/Niigata's Halberd.

Is the blade on it an energy blade or is it a physical blade?

Oh dude, everytime I think of Tabane. Here's how I basically see how Tabane is like after reading Vol. 7 of the Light Novels.

Spoiler for Representation of Tabane:

Believe me; the tone of how the line was said, the head movement and the facial expression pretty much sums it up.

That is how I see Tabane after reading Vol. 7.

Tabane is the "spanner in the work" for every faction in my story....

She somehow manage to screw up their plan one way or another.

Current Faction:

Shroud in Rumor/Darker than Black faction: (unaffected by Tabane.....but not completely)
??? (Dragon)
Kraken (Pirates)

Terrorist:
Phantom Task (terrorist/IS thief)
EBC (Anti-Feminist Terrorist)
Golden Gear (Drone technology Terrorist)

Science department:
The Society (Anti-Tabane Faction)
Section 51 (America's Counter IS research group)
Tabane (I-don't-give-a-damn-Faction)

Misc:
ISA (Training institute for IS pilot)
Sarashiki Group (Crime Fighter)
The Alliance (???)

Tabane doesn't give a fuck. Its the people around her who insist that she does. In my world, she's just concerned with Houki, the rest of the world can go shaft something up their arse. Its just that because enough people with enough power in the right places think she's got a plan, that things are rolling. The interplay of wishes thus changing history.

SHOOTiNG ST@R at times explores the theme of "What is an Idol?" and what that means when the idol isn't the idol everyone makes her to be. Tabane is a topic I love to touch on.

Of course, SS Alternative is just me looking at you and going, "Here's an alt universe IS with 300x more awesome and DRAMA. Of course, brutality and gore abound. Go nuts. "

Unless it's contained like Dead Rising, then yeah, societal collapse. Thankfully, as long as the zombie's don't evolve, you just have to wait till winter/their body's rot to the point where they can't move and it's all over.

Anyway, need help: How do you redeem a Type 5 anti-hero?

Logically, Zombies not evolving = Zombie Apocalypse will be averted (Military and Police IRL ain't so dumb). In Japan, all you need is to wait for summer to come, ala HSotD.

By definition, Type V denotes lesser evil, so I think the same as redeeming a lesser villain. Either heroic sacrifice or lifetime retribution. And sometimes even that is not enough, especially if said 'hero' fall a little too deep.
