Awful, boring cast. Nonaka is the only impressive thing about it.
Uchiyama in particular should not have this role, he has great difficulty not sounding constantly uninterested and the protagonist in this is a bombastic nutbar. Just, ugh. Shimo is also hugely hit-and-miss, please don't forget that he he wrote such legendarily bad anime as Kokoro Connect, Infinite Stratos, and Umineko. With this and the fact that it's apparently only adapting one volume, KA Esuma style, my anticipation has utterly plummeted... |

The only his real fail as scriptwriter is Umineko. The pacing for the arcs was just wrong.

(Spits out water) AKINO and Bless 4 are doing the opening !?
Not that I wasn't interested in it before, but I'll be sure to check this out just to hear the new AKINO opening . Shimo generally does faithful adaptions, that can be rushed based on the amount of content that needs to be adapted and other factors (Chiaki Kon), so I don't see any problem there. Aside from at least four members of the cast, it looks like a lot of new talent for this series...

It sounds like what KyoAni has been doing with KA Esuma Bunko, which has met with (varying) success.
I -think- the story in the first Amabri novel might be enough potential content for an entire cour, if they add more material or expand upon stuff already in the book, but don't quote me on that one. |

If they really wanted to, the first book is probably pretty easy to stretch, but I think the third plays more to what people perceive as KyoAni's strengths.
Also, I don't think you can really judge based on what they've been doing with the KA Esuma line, as all of them have been very loose adaptations based more on premise and a few generalized plot points than anything else. (Though, imo, reading High Speed especially helps with contextualizing the characters in Free)

Chu2Koi takes the basic structure of the first book and adds a whole bunch of new shit to it, for instance. |
