Of course Shoin is just a childhood friend with no feelings towards Mira...at least none that we haven't seen yet.

Mira is annoyed by the intrusive interrogation following their eavesdropping, leaving Miyasaka heart broken, while the kid suspects something is awry with Naosuke but isn't able to pin point it.

As luck would have it, the bird? (or someone else?) steals the first bento leading to Miyasaka making a second bento and going with Mira to hand deliver it...only that the trains are delayed but Shoin in his fancy high tech car right there to assist. The bird is instructed by some mysterious voice (obviously looking for the key) and it's fortuitous that Mira was sitting in the backseat as she utilizes a massive weapon to take it down while Miyasaka is getting motion sickness.

After a brief struggle, all is well, except for Miyasaka's heart (and body). Kiddo gets to have a good lunch and experiences his first crush.

Naosuke opens up his spy camera and is frightened beyond seeing ghosts!

This is a nice little series. Fairly typical, but solid execution. Looks like the girl that was spying on Takumi at the shrine(stalker? or another Wid/Hub weirdo?) is the one eating the breakfasts. Guess that's what the next episode will be about, now that Nao has verified the gho.... i mean thief exists.

I liked how over-the-top that little segment was, but also how no one was asking questions. The show knows what it is and doesn't try to rationalize it .

You can see the same person in episode one as well during Teruko's idol performance scene. When it pans back to the other residence watching you can see them off in the dark part of the room/kitchen.

Oh, lol, I did not see that at all . I'm gonna blame the fact I was reading the subs, so I was looking more downward, plus she wasn't moving, so it didn't trigger anything as I use peripheral vision to read and watch at the same time. The only reason I saw her in ep 2 was because the camera focused in a certain way to give context that there might be something in the background.

Hope there's more focus on the other residents, I don't really care about the key plot and they just keep repeating "we need to find the key" "we need it for the royal succession" over and over.

Is Astro Lodge being haunted!? And Naosuke is surprisingly weak against the supernatural .

Miyasaka has colllected all the (misunderstood) information about Mira he has and come to a conclusion...she's scum that plays with men's feelings! Poor Mira. Of course that doesn't effect his feelings for her at all in true Miyasaka fashion .

And how can he complain if she's relying on him to catch the breakfast-stealing ghost? She even doubles down on Shoin not being her fiance. Now he can really step up and prove himself to her !

Ah yes, no better way to catch a ghost...than soup curry. The funny thing is it does end up kind of working just not in the way Miyasaka intended .

Hidden rooms with a revolving wall door! And of course they rope in Matsubara and Wakabayashi in the investigation! And Wakabayshi may not have a job but that doesn't mean he won't scam people for money with a fake spiritualist act .

Best thing to happen to Miyasaka all day was getting his nose right up in Mira's plump behind .

So the ghost isn't a ghost at all...but a cute girl voiced Yui Ogura! Aoi Kachimachi! She's been there since before Mira took over, brought in by Tasuke-san, and she's just incredibly shy so she's never been able to communicate with the residents. Tasuke was just the type of guy to bring in people who needed a home and accommodate their needs .

And further investigation into Tasuke on Mira and Shoin's part reveal that he is indeed from Planet Wido...and was waiting to give Astro Lodge over to a fellow Alien Wid. But why was he on Earth? What about the key? What was he doing ?

No better excuse to drink than to throw a welcoming party...where the guest of honor doesn't actually show up. Not that you need to twist these residents' arm to hit the booze. And goof around in Miyasaka's room .

I thought it was noticeable that Aoi was blushing when Miyasaka talked to her...turns out they worked together at the same hotel where he was a chef and she was a waitress, back when she had a normal amount of hair! And on top of that she's so down bad for him that she'd even profusely sniff a note he left with the breakfast he made for her .

It's great that Mira and Miyasaka finally got to watch the movie together, and even made a date out of seeing the sequel in theaters, and they seem to be really getting along well...and Mira says she loves his breakfast, which means she loves him, right Miyasaka!? Of course the gossipy lady (who even Mira knows to avoid) reveals that she and Shoin have been coming in and out of a love hotel...poor Miyasaka .

(I'm guessing that's not really a love hotel but where Shoin is based at...)

now they got a pervert in their ranks, not a big fan of an already loser love rival but I do like that in this anime all of them are a buch of weirdos except shoukichi and ren.

I agree that "love hotel" must be shoin's house, it fits him.

I'm surprised he doesn't recognize her name, but she looked very different from the picture...it might be why she ends up getting a haircut to look like the OP so he'll recognize her.

Once you finish watching the episode, you finally realize who the girl looking at the protagonist in the OP is, but I got to say the episode itself was structured pretty well, with foreshadowing here and there about his and her past workplaces, finally revealing who she is, and then finally the big shocker that she's a pervert, leading the audience to realize she is the OP's girl

Assuming Mira and Shoin came out of a love hotel together may have finally broken Miyasaka...his cooking is weak, he's obsessed with squids and won't stop making squid puns. It's not a pretty sight .

Cultured Miyasaka loving short hair though! I guess Mira's counts since it doesn't really go past her shoulders ?

Well, nice of Matsubara to try to set him up with one of her co-workers so he can get his mind off of Mira, but he's in such a crazy funk now that he thinks she's scamming him, makes off with a squid pun, and then makes a potato face Mira .

On Mira's part, she absolutely loves gushing about his food and wants Shoin to try it out, and she seems genuinely concerned about him...more than she is about her own mission and duties to Planet Wid, which Shoin seems to realize .

Naosuke playing wingman for Aoi to get Takumi as far away from Mira as possible, even playing disembodied voice to get her to cut her hair to Miyaska's preferred length .

I guess Wakabayshi CAN be a decent father when he sets his mind to it, being concerned about his son, getting drunk and getting into hijinks with the rest of the guys, assuming Ren bought his first porn mag...typical dad stuff .

It wasn't what Ren was after at all, but I imagine naked Matsubara fresh from the bath will be something that stays with him .

It's like the Planet Hub robot saw all the squid jokes and decided to unleash it's own liquid squid to continue their plot. And they look like they're far from done

Ren's not crushing on a girl or an underwear thief...he just wants to wear cute skirts! And Matsubara is happy to give it to him if he asks, though his dad doesn't want Ren to be as ostracized or judged as much as he is as a jobless bum. Even mentions the mom for the first time (and it sounds like she's deceased). Good thing Mira is there to smooth things over and let Ren do what he wants to do, like she is now on Earth .

Aoi looks really cute in her new haircut and in some nicer clothes! And the nosy neighbor actually helps out by making Miyasaka run away with her by holding her hand !

And of course they just so happen to run into Mira and Shoin at the "love hotel," which isn't a love hotel at all but Shoin's home base! They didn't even know what a love hotel is! But now Miyasaka AND Mira are concerned about each others' relationship with someone of the opposite sex .

Tasuke had a connection to Mira's mother? Possibly a romantic one at that? And of course just in time for Miyasaka to walk in asking for clarification of Mira's marital status just as a holographic message from her mom pops up. Is the cat finally out of the bag ?

They sure packed a lot in this episode! A lot of squid!

Story wise, Ren goes into a cross dressing phase over his infatuation of his classmate which led to an interesting conversation of his father with Miyasaka and the old guy on a child's development.

The magazine has the idol Matsubara who lives there but is not at all like her real personality. Ren gets to see her naked after a bath and the show does a good job of making the following scene about stealing clothes, permission, liberation, experimentation, parent/child argument/bonding etc. and not about some ecchi trope used in so much other anime out there.

The alien squid gets away loose and Miyasaka is back to making good food. No idea why he isn't a full time breakfast lunch and dinner chef (or at least breakfast and dinner).

Gossip lady gets one line before Miyasaka pulls "short cut" Aoi away by hand. They end up in front of the "love hotel" which we know is Shoin's lavish home. Both Miyasaka and Mira are deep in their own assumptions of the other, and it's obvious Aoi's love for Miyasaka will continue to grow following that "voice" she heard and her decision to cut her hair for his supposed preference in girl type.

Old guy gives Mira a photo of Tasuke and Mira's mother, who transmits a hologram message at the moment Miyasaka enters the room. Great way to end the episode!

I hope in the next episode Miyasaka will learn Miea's identity for real and there won't be some other misunderstanding.

it's nice to see most of the misunderstantings getting cleared in this chapter, it seems the next one will be the last one with miyasaka knowing the true about mira.

well, it won't stop his mind to wander to whatever when it comes to shoin but it's something.
