That's what I want in this game for so long! In MGS Peace Walker, I really wanted to torture those guys causing a racket in the brig and break them. Evil

I think animals will be for food. I just hope the currency system doesn't have the microtransactions to buy for real money.

It's kinda frustrating reading up media impressions of MGSV. They mean it as a joke, but they always like to look at all the stuff that Kojima adds to the game as crazy, or stuff that only Kojima can think of, like cardboard box mechanics, Phantom cigar for timelapse, animals defecating, etc...

Kojima has always had an insane amount of attention to detail in every part of his games. Even the simplest gimmicks are given a lot of polish. Even the simple things in GZ, like the basic TPS mechanics are highly polished and makes a ton of sense. It gives you a lot of control over BB, and that's excluding all the extra things like allowing you finesse over the gameplay moments like cardboard boxes or manually controlling the timelapse...

Another other game developer would had simply given you a menu to skip time, because Kojima actually makes it a mechanic that not only does not take you out of the BB experience, you get to visually see the changes in real time, just as a real person who waited 20 hours would.

It often feels like Kojima's extra mile to give his fans ton of easter eggs ( especially in his trailers ) are seen as convoluted, and the extra mile to make his world feel real and grounded ( ices melting, animals, etc ) are seen as 'lol Kojima u so crazy.'

We need more devs with Kojima's brand of crazy, not less. Directors like Masahiro Sakurai and Kojima delivers a lot of rich content in their games.

Where does GZ take place. Where do you go in TPP other than Afghanistan (that has been revealed so far)? Who is Venom Snake?

I haven't been keeping up with this game. When I play it, so much of it will be fresh for me.

GZ should be Cuba?

Other than Afghanistan there's South Africa?

Venom Snake is Big Boss' codename... Don't know why they changed it from Punished Snake.

"MSG5"
"MGSV"
"V has come to"
"V for Venom"
"Poisonous snakes, snake venom, etc"

Tl;dr, it's Kojima being Kojima.

Then it should have been Viscous Snake, or Vapor Snake

I said in this thread or another one in gaming section of Anime Suki that I don't need MGS V day one (if I didn't have or want a PS4 when it hits)...I mean, I said that there were a couple of reasons and the biggest one was how MGS 2 and MGS 4 plot lines create canon which screws up the over arching MGS story/canon...

Buuut...this game will probably be so great as a stand alone title. I changed my mind. I think I will have a PS4 in time for MGS V launch. MGS 3 (especially enhanced versions like Subsistence and MGS 3 HD) is one of my very favorite games. In my top 3 of all games; all platforms. MGS V has potential to be better.

I haven't played MGS GZ yet and I want to wait until I have a PS4 so I can play the PS4 version. Might just play MGS GZ and TPP back to back.

Should I play MGS PW? I hear it is good but I don't really have any real desire to play through it and I'm not a fan of the comic book style cinematic scenes. Should I play it anyway? I do have it on PS3. If I don't play it, I will look up a detailed plot synopsis online in order to better understand the plot of GZ and TPP.

PW is a nice game, personally I didn't like the QTEs and button mashing in a few of said comic cutscenes but overall it's a typical MGS game, with the difference that gameplay is interupted by base management and mission selection.
Personally, I would recommend you play it. Would be a waste otherwise, seeing how you already own it.

Agreed with Kyral. PW is surprisingly very well-packed considering it was originally a portable game. It is my personal favorite in the HD pack and quite addicting for me. The control mechanic is derived from MGS4, but simplified and with numerous change here and there too. If you're into multiplayer, PW feels great too because of the teamwork dynamics. The online is still quite alive as well the last time I played it.

Overall PW is quite a departure from traditional MGS exprerience and its gameplay and story would make you understand things in MGS V better, so I'd also recommend you to play it.

One of PW biggest assets is the tapes. They are a major part of PW and they are really good too. I like Strangeloves tapes the most.
