Excluding Lucia, my favorite routes in order are :

Not much to say really, I just really loved both.

I really liked Moon to be honest, mostly the relationship between Kotarou and Kagari.

And by the end Sakuya once again proves he's badassness, which was really a major plus.

And like I was told, Terra's Kotarou is Akane's Kotarou time 10...maybe 100.
He's a badass, he is mature, he is smart...he is just that damn cool.
Also you really feel for him as you watch his triple agent work unfold, how he betrays everyone and even kills others...he seems very tormented at first but then just goes numb over it unless it involves someone he knows.

And Esaka-san...omg the old man was just great, more than in any other route.

In fact every character was just great, Imamiya included! Terra KotarouXTouka 4 life!

Though I must admit some of the inconsistencies are quite jarring, not just ones with other routes but also some within Terra itself...but ignoring them after a while isn't really hard.

As for the ending (BTW Badass Sakuaya just HAD to make one final appearance didn't he?) it was great, it wasn't bittersweet and it was just well done IMHO. Kotarou becoming a familiar with unlimited Rewriting as long as he's given energy is quite a great idea to solve everything without making him into a God or something of the like. Also is it me or was it hinted that Kotori gave his familiar self Kotarou's teenage appearance on purpose, saying it was her selfishness? Cause for me she (and maybe Akane) should have noticed his appearance was so similar to Kotarou's.

Also, nice addition with them landing on the moon so Moon's Kagari wasn't alone (let's ignore the fact that they are in outerspace...).

Overall loved Terra (the Earth Dragon and Kashima bits were a bit anti-climactic...and I think making Iko suddenly have killed all the children was a bit unnecessary but the bit with Tsukuno and Kotarou's parents shoving them away was nice so, kinda forgiven xD) and I'm sad it's over.

PS: Notice how in the ending movie/credits when they were showing all the heroine route's FINAL CGs the only one that wasn't a FINAL CG was Shizuru's...yea! Even the makers knew how bullshit that ending was and decided to change at least that to what it should have been...Kotarou and Shizuru together cooking saury! Tonokawa is dead to me! DEAD!

Shizuru : Continuation of Oppai route, however the whole purpose of this is tied to after-story of Shizuru's ending in the original.

For a supposed main girl, they doesn't give her enough screen time or main spotlight (which is what most Key games about). I can see now why some people say this is so un-Key game from a Key

And the problem I have with her HF is not about her route not being Kagari-centric, Shizuru and Chihaya's HF show that they can do fine even without being heroine-centric (to an extent Akane too). I just feel the narrative in her HF is a bit boring for something written by Romeo, somehow I feel like Romeo ran out ideas for her HF and decided to gave her a reason wear school uniform .

I like Moon Kagari much more than Earth's.
I'm cool with the silent innocent type that she is in Moon, it's actually kind of cute and her relationship with Kotarou was way cuter than even most of the other heroines.
My problem is with Earth Kagari and princess/high and mighty attitude. Don't get me wrong, I understand why she would have that kind of personality considering what she is...I was just never into that type of girl.

Looks wise...well she does beat Chihaya at least xD

So I was busy admiring Rewrites OST and decided to check if there was any activity in this thread, and WOW! It's blown up! I am really surprised at how much Terra and Akane's routes are so well liked. Looking back obviously my Japanese wasn't up to par in order to enjoy those routes in a timely matter to make it fun, since so many of you liked it. They use way too many terms that I'm not used to, so many of these terms don't usually show up in your regular moe ren-ai VNs :P.

The reception seems decent but not all that encouraging? As for myself, I can say that I was in a similar place before, but now that it's been almost two years, I must say I have a really great appreciation for this VN, I think it's a masterpiece now, even if i didn't enjoy the latter routes as much as I should have, I had so much fun reading this VN, the thrills were so much more personable, I felt like I was in the middle of those scenes. I am probably reading the wrong VNs, but I barely ever see so much cuteness, so much action, so much mysteriousness and plot while being able to fight with a single bishoujo heroine at your side while getting to know her, it's truly a man's romance . The mix of genres in Rewrite was so original and created such a different feel than anything I've ever experienced, I wasn't so crazy about it before, but I have a serious hunger for more, I really fondly remember the good times of this VN. I really want more. I was bummed by HF, you guys that haven't read it, keep your expectations low... HF is more like that OVA at the end of a series that's just for fun. I still want a spin-off for Lucia or at least for Guardian .

I thought Lucia's VA was amazing, never was I completely melted by moe koe before. I wouldn't hesitate to instantly pre-order any VN that featured Risa Asaki as a main heroine. I can't believe you guys didn't all melt into unobstrusive puddles from that one scene. The transition from her regular voice to her dere voice is so dramatic, I loved it . Maybe she wasn't convincing later on but I think that has more to do with the plot... as you can tell I really don't want to go to the effort of having to put spoiler tags here, lol.

I think the tsundere label is used too much nowadays, if you're normally a nice person, but if someone plays a prank on you and you have a strong reaction then you're a tsundere character if you were to get moefied. I think tsundere should be reserved for characters who are always acting harsh not those who just act harsh due to being teased/pranked on.

Ehh, the anime, they should just animate it with the same sequence of events as if you went through a regular playthrough of the VN (Of course with only animating the common route once.). And let any studio but J.C. do it. I mean seriously, who bought the LB anime who wasn't an LB fan in the first place? I only imported the first volume because I loved the VN. If it weren't for the VN, I doubt that anime would even do 2k on it's own... therefore studios should just animate the VNs to appease the fans of the VN imo. They'd probably do a better job of making non VN fans happy too because it would end up being closer in enjoyment level to the original VN than some new fangled adaptation.

I am still surprised at the reactions, I had so much fun reading Chihaya's route and the latter half of Kotori's, Moon was very mysterious and I enjoyed that feeling but I thought it was not nearly as fun and enjoyable as the other routes... Akane and Terra felt so dragged out without ever getting to a point... I am really curious as to what emotions you guys felt during these routes. IIRC some parts were ironic, but I never felt that it was all that suspenseful or intriguing... I never felt any true excitement during those two latter routes I mentioned. Why did you guys love it so much? My apologies if you guys already said so before. I only skimmed the last 10 pages that had so many spoiler tags... Obviously I must be missing something seeing as how well Senri and Terra are liked.

Thinking about installing the patch and re-reading in my native language, reading in a foreign language is great as it prolongs great scenes that you wished may have lasted longer but on the flip side it also prolongs scenes that are already way too long to being dreadfully long. Man, I need more Rewrite and Luchi-chans koe.

Okay guys! Just finished Rewrite and I'm kinda struggling to come to peace with the ending.

Spoiler for Endgame spoilers:

It was good, very good, it resolved the main problem of the series and all that. But... It left me feeling empty after I thought about it. It feels like all the time spent on the common and heroine routes was worthless. I know there's the bit about defeating Kashima on the Moon, but that doesn't feel good enough to me. I think back to the prologue, how Kotarou was searching for happiness. I felt like he found happiness in most of the Heroine routes' endings. And then we get to Moon and he's going "Fuck my previous lives.". That felt wrong to me. But I ended up liking Moon a lot regardless, his relationship with Kagari is deep. They don't speak a single word to each other, but seem to share a bond that goes beyond all of that. Like their hearts are connected. That was great, ultimately I loved Moon. And Terra had a lot of great scenes too. But my problem with Terra is that it felt so strangely disconnected from the rest of the series. Kotarou is strung along by fate to be with Earth Kagari. He says he loves her, but it feels very artificial, like he's a puppet on strings lead to fulfil the conditions required to save the Earth. I dunno how much I can admire him. He sacrificed everything he held dear just to be with Kagari, a girl who never returned his feelings. And for what? Did he ever find that happiness he wanted so much? He sacrificed everything and gained nothing. You could say he did it for the world, but that's not true, he did it because he was drawn to Kagari. He seemed little more like a puppet to me in the end. It's sad. I'm having a lot of trouble accepting this ending. I welcome anyone to challenge my views.

Third, what's up with Kotori route Kagari? She seemed almost demonic in that route, breaking into uncontrollable laughter when the situation was at it's worst. That seems to completely contradict all the other versions of Kagari...

I'll be back with more questions as I think of them. I await people's replies.

Okay, let's see if I can help while in the meantime until someone better comes along to answer

Spoiler for Rewrite End Spoilers:

First of all, all the side routes held significance, as all the Kotarous converged for Moon. The routes were important because the bonds he created with his friends allowed him to summon them to help him ward off Kashima. If you go back to previous pages on this thread, people debate a lot on this issue (whether the side routes actually mattered/happened). IMO, they were important for paving the way to Terra, which can be looked at in a way of the glass being half full or empty. They were kind of a tool to progress to Terra, but they all still happened, even though their aurora was eventually recycled.

As for Terra's disconnection, I agree on that. But I think that was an intentional move by the writers, as Terra Kotarou is different then normal Kotarou (no amnesia, and is older then his Occult Club friends). He is certainly darker and more depressed then the other routes (like his friction with Kotori and Akane). I think they were trying to imply that in all the other routes, Kagari was left astray while Kotarou chose other women, but in her route, Kotarou had to avoid his other bonds to focus on her...or something.

Also, as for Terra's time, I'm not sure. Kagari was working on a lot of possibilities during Moon, so if each one of those slowly drained the Earth's aurora, then she burned through a lot before Kotarou inadvertently helped her find Terra's route. Which would imply that Terra happened a lot later, since the Earth's lack of life force wasn't touched upon in any other route.

I think the bud is either a representation that Moon Kagari still exists, or that it's the first bud of life on the moon, meaning that humanity can move on from Earth before it runs out of aurora. Though they can probably just make a "stone city" there too, but the game hinted multiple times that it wasen't sustainable, so the bud gives long-term prospects to humanity.

Finally, Kagari acts pretty differently in general in the side routes (willingly disappears in Chihaya's, doesn't talk in Shizuru's, talks in Kotori's, etc). The conclusion most people agree with is that the differences are due to different writers working on each route, and perhaps not collaborating enough on Kagari's character. Even notice that Salvation works differently in Shizuru's and Akane's route (people just disappear in Shizuru's, but get eaten by the forest in Akane's). AKA, I'm not sure, and I have no idea why she smiled in Kotori's route. It could be that she just gained more human emotion since she was able to be around Kotori/Kotarou more, but still....

Is it really that inconsistent though? I always thought that the differences in Salvation were because in Shizuru, it was an uninterrupted, perfect salvation. In Akane it was more of an imperfect salvation orchestrated by Akane, which explains the differences. I think the pure form of Salvation has no suffering, just being absorbed by light. The vegetation came after.

Well personally I just liked Kotarou's version of those routes, he was so much more mature and cooler than in any other route where he's either a standard teenager or a generic shounen action hero.
His relationship with Akane (and the fact that I love Akane) helped a lot.
There's also awesome side-characters (Esaka, Shimako, Tsukuno, Luis, etc) and intriguing plots that kept me hooked.

You actually bring up a good point!
I felt like Kotarou loving Earth's Kagari at first sight and doing everything for her felt incredibly forced and unnecessary. I think it would have been better if Kotarou simply did everything to save Earth and Humanity instead of saving them because of Kagari. It would have been much better for an ending route, especially considering Earth Kagari's view on things (and even dumping him...yea she did say it was just a one-sided love).
Say if Kotarou kept his memories from Moon then that would be sorta fine, but this is a completely new Kotarou so he really did just fall for the "divine" form of Earth Kagari.

So yea...to me it would have been better if Kotarou didn't love Earth Kagari and just did it all to save Humanity and Earth.

Spoiler for Moon/Terra:

It's actually simple.
Earth eventually ran out of resources and became barren of life (no route lead to successful re-evolution or humanity's progression) so it transferred what little life it had left into Moon.
Moon then takes place where Moon Kagari created that world so she could plan out a path that would lead to Earth and Humanity's salvation.
Then Moon Kagari started Re-Evolution (the song) destroying everything on the moon, gathering all the life energy and transferring it to Earth.

Once the Earth received the energy it started everything from scratch, following the path Moon Kagari had set up (like how Kotarou and crew made their own evolution game), meaning that millions of years pass like it did when everything first started. Only this time Moon Kagari set things up so that the new Kotarou would let Earth Kagari go instead of trying to kill or capture her. It all lead to the perfect solution that saved humanity.

So in summary:
Earth died and gave the rest of its life to Moon.
Moon created a new world in order to plan a branch that would save humanity.
Moon transferred life back to Earth which started everything from scratch following the branch Moon Kagari planned out.
Millions of years later Kotarou was born, grew up, let Kagari go instead of attacking her and ended up saving humanity.

When she transferred all of the moon's life back to Earth she reverted back to a bud to symbolize that she was still there and that there was still life(even if just a smudge of it) back in the moon.
Don't forget that Kagari IS the Moon (and Earth) given a human form.

Third, what's up with Kotori route Kagari? She seemed almost demonic in that route, breaking into uncontrollable laughter when the situation was at it's worst. That seems to completely contradict all the other versions of Kagari...

The difference between Kotori's Kagari and Terra's Kagari is that in Kotori's route Kotarou attacked Kagari when she was first born, Kotori begged her to save him, she did and he went into the coma. THEN it is implied that Kagari was either captured by Gaia for a few years or killed by Guardian (don't know which). She then either escaped or a new one was created...meaning that she wasn't able to learn from humanity and stayed completely inhumane, she watched everything unfold while thinking like a higher being rather than like a human.

In Terra, Kagari escaped and wandered the world meaning she learned from humanity and became closer to one. But you can see that even in Terra she's the cold and merciless type, she doesn't care who lives or dies as long as shit gets done...now picture this personality without any sort of humanity mixed...we then have Kotori/Akane's Kagari.

Everyone was in the Moon Garden, but only Kotarou was given a body because he was meant to protect Kagari from Kashima.
