I've watched two episodes of the dub on adult swim and I'm massively disappointed. I think Michael J Tatum is a horrible adaptive script writer.
I won't get picky. I'll just mention the one thing that I personally just hated the most. It's just that Mikasa never cussed ever in this show on Crunchyroll's subs. I'm weird, I'm not fond of cuss words and it's one of several reasons I liked Mikasa. Yet in two episodes into the show, Michael J Tatum has turned this character into someone else entirely for me. I hate it. |

1.34 million for episode one, then 1.46 for episode two, so the word of mouth is good. (For comparison, most Toonami shows in that time slot get around one million viewers.)

Well English dub....Well I must say it's better then some out there and I've only seen some dialogue changes but the first thing I noticed was armins voice.....now because eren looks older and is not as much as a wuss you'd expect him to have a deeper voice sadly no....anyways the 3rd episode I had some hope I was at comic con that day and met jeans English dubbed voice actor and asked some questions but you know I got home waited and episode 3 came on....it was better since the voices weren't horrible but that's when episode 4 dubbed came in now in the series Annie is my favorite female character (honestly mikasa is a little cliche) well I was surprised at the voice and I was like..."Well she does have a bit if a different past so it does make sense...." anyways overall if you can mind the voices and dialogue changes its the same anime we watched with English subtitles

A: How badly phrased the english dub is such that what they are saying doesn't make sense in either english or japanese and would not be phrased that way in either language.
English dub: "And just like that, everything changed. At that terrible moment, in our hearts, we knew... "home" was a pen... and humanity, cattle." What kind of obscure metaphor is that? Have you ever heard anyone talk in short phrases like that? Not even when building up suspense do you do that in this way. Just like what? It's the fucking beginning of the series, we don't know what he's referring to! It's like something's already happened, but the titan doesn't come through until a few secs later. Who the fuck is talking in the present tense? No characters have been introduced yet! Sub: "On that day, humanity received a grim reminder... the terror of being ruled by the titans.....and the humiliation of being kept in a cage." Much better. The thoughT-phrase idea makes REALISTIC SENSE like this. 3 distinct points. Notice this is in the past tense not the present, which makes it more realistic as we are seeing a top view of the city not a in person view. The whole Hannes saying because he was scared makes no sense in the dub as to why that would make Eren cry instead of shout while it did in the sub. Home was a pen? The way he says it makes it seems like my house can be stir-fried which makes no logical sense until skips the 'was a' and goes straight to cattle. That is NOT a expression in the english language. People, are a pen (WTF?). The forum, PAPER. (PFFT HERE IN AMERICA WE JUST SAY PEOPLE POST ON THE FORUMS AND MOST PEOPLE FIND THAT TOO OBSCURE TO UNDERSTAND ANYWAY) Last edited by CrowKenobi; 2014-05-27 at 13:05. It seems the 2nd season was announced during Animagic 2014 in Germany. According to the article, the anime is in "pre-production phase".

By the way, during the Q&A session with George Wada, aside from the announcment of the second season and him saying that Ymir x Christa really are a couple (which has to be taken with a grain of salt, since he is not Isayama), there have been some other interesting facts as well:

The reason that Hanji is probably the first name is because in the original Japanese version, all the names were pronounced with the first name first and then the last name next in the anime (usually, it is the other way around in other Japanese shows). Hanji Zoe is what is usually written in all the sources that I have seen, which is consistent with other characters, such as Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman.
