The issue is that we need Yukari to constantly talk about her fanaticism on WW2 in general. This means if nothing else, WW2 needs to happen or she would have nothing to say.

This conflicts with the story's desire to say war was discouraged; but then, that was what the UN was created for too. That didn't work either.

So the new explanation for only female drivers was that male tank crews end up in brawls mid-game.

Ironically, Maho's always been nice. It's just that she can't show it, as it wouldn't fit the expected image of a Nishizumi heiress. Oh, and because it would likely give Shiho more wrinkles.

IMHO, Erika is not as satellite a character to Maho as Orange Pekoe is to Darjeeling.

Rather, I think at the moment when Erika climbed over the Porsche Tiger, for the first time in her Tankery life, she was going to rescue someone. With desperation. And at that moment, a little part of her must have realized "Oh, that's it. That must be the emotion Miho was feeling..."

Since she is now able to empathize, for the first time she was able to discard the thought that Miho threw away last year's match for nothing. Her hate and disdain evaporated, she was able to make a much nicer face at the end.

Exactly. Except Erika can't comprehend it, and thought of Maho always as the cold, efficient commander that she is.

And she tries to live under that shadow. It also doesn't help that Maho cannot express it even in front of Erika.

I wonder if Black Forest Peak had attempted to change styles last year due to their new Vice Commander (Miho) but because they lost the finals, there was a massive backlash on that style and thus Erika's vemon and the heresy comments. Erika and Maho going back to the traditional style this year, but far too ridged due to over-compensation form last year's loss pinned on Miho's style.

However, this year Miho, Commanding Ooarai, defeats Black Forest Peak using her own style, refined. Thus Erika has to accept the loss (as that is Sensha-do).

That and she lost over half her tanks, including her Maus and Jadgtiger, to Ooarai's inferior numbers and inferior tanks.

Though in looking at the battle again, it looks like one of their jadgpanzer IVs that is firing on the Tiger (P) has its flag up while still shooting. Also can we assume the voice of the Tiger II commander that chases the Type 89 isn't Erika? Cause if it was, and those forces made it back to engage the Tiger (P), that means that Tiger took out a lot more tanks than I originally thought. (That is if the five tanks that roll up after the Tiger (P) is taken down are all they have left aside from the Tiger I engaging Miho. If that was the case, that Tiger (P) is beyond awesome, as it would have taken out a Tiger II and several Panthers in addition to the four tanks it is already credited with).

Nah, you can see Erika's Tiger II immediately behind Maho's Tiger I. And the other Tiger II was still toying with the Type 89 (or being toyed with before scoring a hit) even after Erika asked Maho to delay until they can get into the school building.

You mean 14:23? Looking at it through freeze-frame, the flagpole wasn't up at first, only a radio antenna whip and then some mysterious smoke appeared, JgdPanzer IV fires and then while its surface looks undamaged and there is no clear sign of hit, when the firing blast clears you can see the flagpole. It is arguable that instead of the Tiger(P) hitting it, it suffered a mysterious internal failure (explaining the smoke coming out of its front left after we switch to a back view) and the flag came up.

Somehow, I just cannot see pre-Oarai Miho propagating major changes in tactical doctrine, especially when Maho is there. It is possible, however, that the idea of breaking off the flagtank with a few escorts was her idea - you may note that's what she basically did for the Saunders and Pravda fights. In last year's fight, that didn't end well...

As I explained though, Erika would rather bite the bullet and be that failure, just so she can continuously hold Maho on a pedestal.

Does she not know it was dangerous for Maho to charge in like that, or to engage Miho on a 1v1 battle? Absolutely, but she'd love to pretend not to recognize those facts. Denial can indeed be very powerful.

Depending on just how Sensha-do tournaments are orginized, Ooarai might have to replace several members next year.

Ooarai has 8 seniors this year on the team. The entire Student Council: Anzu, Yuzu, Momo (Hetzer crew needs to be replaced). Most of the Automotive Club are seniors: Nakajima, Sukuki, and Hoshino (Tiger (P) crew needs a refill). Piyotan: Type 3's gunner/loader is a senior. As is "Sodoko": The Char B1 will need a new commander.

They also have 10 freshmen who could be around for a while. The entire crew of the M3 Lee plus most of the Type 89 crew are freshmen. The last freshman is Momogaa, the driver of the Type 3.
