This writing is pathetic. The episode starts with an absurdly set up hostage situation and it ends with a lousy blood bath, which suppose to go for a shock value, but instead gives an unintentionally comical flavor. It's too stupid.
The whole episode is so tasteless that it's impossible to care for anyone in it.

At the very start, the first guy who loses his shit he charges at an old man, and grabs him. Like grabs him by the collar awkwardly, like "ooh I'll show you!" Maybe try punching to knock him out next time. The guy was just asking to be a meat for slaughter.

Next guy, the kid with a nail gun. He's got the gun, and opportunity to use sure, but he's too scared, even when the old man is facing away in opposite direction. Eh no problem, it's ok to let the man keep butchering those poor people one by one.

The lady inspector on the floor is telling the kid not to use the nail gun. Ah yes good idea, because clearly she is in a better position [handcuffed on a floor] to save the day. And again we have all time in the world while whose people are being butchered.

So the old man. He basically enters God Mode and becomes invincible for duration of the scene. It's like against all odds and regardless of how implausible it is, the evil man will do his evil deed. I can't stand when they do that. It's a lazy excuse for innocent victims. This crazy old man will smash skulls while preaching them about life, and no one can do jack. Gotta set things in motion somehow, so just deal with it folks.

Outside. The purple haired dude, the enforcer, acts all shy and unsure of himself now. The heck? Before he was just quite and emotionless, maybe a mysterious type, but but now he is a stuttering and spineless rookie, first day on job type. The hell.

And the glorious end. The blood bath. So why do we even need people as inspectors? Oh and btw female inspector on the floor says "I'm an inspector!" as she slashes the old man with a piece of glass. Yes, good job inspecting there, inspector.
So anyway, why humans for inspectors. Just give guns to droids and let them go shoot everything through walls. Hey the result will be just as accurate. It's not like these inspector guys need to use their brains to analyze situation. Yeah who needs to analyze when you have a cool smoking gun that can shoot through walls. Meh using brains is overrated. Let the blood bath begin.

There you go. I'm looking forward to see what else they gonna to pull out of their asses to make this more dramatic. So clumsy, so ham-fisted.
I was willing to give them a benefit of a doubt, but now I see that Season2 is s a disgrace to ideas established in S1. But even if Season2 existed in a vacuum, the things happening on a screen in this episode are still mind numbingly stupid.

1/10

Try reading this thread before you go on your rampage. You might actually learn something about the episode.

@ thundrakkon: I will read it yes. But first I wanted to post impressions as they are, before diving into what others had to say.

Most, if not all, of your concerns that you presented were discussed in detail on this thread, and hopefully, it will give you a satisfactory analysis. If you have further questions or discussions, I'm sure people will be happy to discuss them with you.

Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why you haven't dropped the show? At least the vibe I get from your post is that the watching it feels like torture.

MiLOzz should've had a quick look through the thread, but I can't really disagree with most of his points either. If I had to fanwank that hard just to explain how the old guy overpowered a younger man, then the writing's failed. What's worse is that fanwanking should've been completely unnecessary; just use the damn robo-dog!

Then there's the weird scene with the teleporting Division 2 enforcer that suddenly appeared two stories up armed with the Assault Dominator, missing the green jacket he's been wearing the whole episode. Division 3 seems like a trigger-happy bunch; they should've been dying to play with the new toy. So why would they suddenly give the cool fancy gun to some enforcer in another division?

While I understand some of your points about the episode, you are incorrect about the female inspector (whose name was Aoyanagi, btw). She tried to stab the old man with the glass because her DOMINATOR COULD NOT DETECT HIM. Whatever drug and/or hypnosis Kamui puts his compatriots under clearly somehow manages to fool the system into not detecting any change in their Hues. Therefore it was much like when Makishima killed Yuki. Dominators could do nothing, despite the fact that he was IN THE MIDDLE OF KILLING PEOPLE. Aoyanagi simply did what she felt was right, stress-levels and clear thinking be damned. She simply made a hard decision, unlike Akane who couldn't pull the trigger even though her best friend's throat was being slit.

If I DO have one major complaint about the series, it's that we are never given any details surrounding the actual parameters that govern characters' latent criminal scores. All we get are vague descriptions that infer they can be changed by both emotional state and ways of thinking, the latter making very little sense in terms of something that could be mathematically quantified. I can understand the stress-induced increases in values (such as abnormal hormone levels), but the concept falls through when you have crazy people sometimes rated high by SIBYL and sometimes not, even when they're killing people. Maybe they're calm, maybe they're not. Are they on drugs? And if they are, why wouldn't the system be able to detect it? Seems too arbitrary because it seems to lack consistency... it seriously makes the suspension of disbelief implode when the series starts contradicting itself because "plot-mechanics-say-so". Not good in a mystery-type plot line.

Because we don't fully understand how the Hue system actually measures state-of-mind, it ends up not meaning a single damn thing when something strays from the norm. Because they also don't explain why people's Hues worsen and become unrecoverable (even with "therapy").

That being said, for the time being I'm still enjoying the series. But it certainly isn't making itself easier to understand exposition-wise, that's for sure.

Well, the cymatic scan seems to evaluate either the brain/body's chemistry, brain waves, or both. It's feasible to assume that normal medication would just promote better chemistry (which causes the person to be less stressed), but there might also be some kind of drug that merely masks said chemistry to onlookers.

Yep some good analysis in this thread. I saw a lot of good points made and interesting discussions brought up.

The reason I haven't dropped it so far is because I was giving them a benefit of a doubt. Episodes 1-3 were not so bad.
Episode 4 was painful. But even after this I'm probably gonna finish it. Maybe there will be some interesting ideas that will sneak into this mess.
At the end of the day I do want to see something good in Season2, yet after this episode I'm not holding my breath.
Right now Season2 is an example of how NOT to make a sequel. Really wish by the end of the show I could say otherwise.

Yeah you right actually. In a sense she was calling herself an Inspector to emphasize that her duty is to stop criminal activity.
At the time it struck me as a poor choice of words for the character, because she was so enraged and acting on animalistic instincts. But I see the point now.

On a side note: Her pointing a dominator at the man again seemed like the dumbest thing to do (after she cut him with glass), since the gun already failed her 2-3 times.
But ironically it would work. But she couldn't know that.
As we saw it in a sniper scope, his crime coefficient did finally go up. And so she finally would be able to neutralize him, if only she didn't get shot down first. But how could she know it would work, and why would she think it will work after failing so many times?.. is just one of those things that make actions of characters seem so ass-backwards.

Well you have to realise that these people have been living in an entirely different world from ours, and therefore think way differently than you and me do. A lot of things you'd call "common sense" is not actually that "common" in this world.

It's been specifically pointed out that most humans have lost most of their instincts, especially the ones with the clear hues.

An old guy overtaking a younger guy does not sound so strange to me if the younger guy does not put up a fight.

The inspector insisting that she should be the one to take care of things makes sense when you take into account the aforementioned lack of instinct, plus the fact that she's trying to protect the hues of the people around her, since hue is more important than life itself.

Concerning why she still tried the dominator before using the glass shard. Well, is it that hard to believe that she truly does not know any better? Violent crimes are ridiculously rare, and somehow I doubt there exist many violent movies anymore. And I don't think violent happenings make the news very often, if at all.

I'll give you that she is an inspector and thus should have some experience with criminals. But first, she is an inspector and not an enforcer, which means that once again, she does not have the same instincts that people in the real world should have. She's probably also never been in a situation this extreme before. Lastly, she's never seen the dominator fail to judge before. It is actually quite normal for people to have proplems wrapping their heads around something that they've been taught is completely and utterly impossible. By the time she resolved to abandon the dominator, she already had enough killing intent to bump her crime coefficient over 300.

On that note, you don't have to like all of this. But to me all this does not seem that unbelievable. Human minds are incredibly mutable by circumstance, and routines that react to certain stimuli will get weaker if those stimuli never happen.

@MiLOzz That episode is indeed very pathetic.

To be completely honnest, I had high expetation from that anime, and in that episode 4 I saw so much shit that i'm very dissapointed and quite pissed.

What the fuck did just happened, is this the same author that did season 1 ?

Kamui has Transformed a desperate old man into a warrior capable of killing people (psychologically and physically), what the heck ?

The old man crashing the skull of a young guy like it was matches ?
SKULLS don't crash like that ...

it takes incredible stamina and strength to beat up one man/woman, but beating up a series of people including healthy men and a trained inspector btw two oxygen refull ? ... and every time the old man ONE SHOT THEM, one hit one K.O., victim are made of paper and old man is suddently super man, Bitch PLEASE.
How ignorant the author can be to even allow that ? if he is not ignorant how can he think he can trick us ?

Then let's just take the "inspector victim", that saw dominator misfunctionning one time, missing the nailgun opportunity (BY JUST DROPPING IT), and get her ass kicked a second time ? Like she is naive to try again and then stupid enough to not avoid the second strike, run or move ?
Then she come back and step up a third time ! (Redundancy)
she looses it and attack him with a piece of broken glass, ... she is a bloody inspector, she saw worst than that and suddenly act like teenage.

And beautifull coindence, Dominator now shooting through wall, STARTING FROM THAT EPISODE .... and on that Inspector ... Really ?

And you know what, now the author denied the law of physics, psychology and common sense when he wanted, LET's JUST kamui RUNNING AWAY XD.
Seriously, how the fuck does kamui runs away -_- ?
(2 divisions ARE surrounding the building, our hero inspector that is on the crime scene WHILE kamui is here, the hero know kamui is around and might use some fancy hollow, ... after the blood bath inspector stay outside, THEY DO NOT invest and secure the building, (they probably wanted kamui to run away, to have more episode),
How a poor scenario is that ?

what more ?

Oh yeah let's remind the nature of sybil system which is human brain hive that act like a computer, a dominator sees a scene with men killing other people, full of blood, no let's just focus on some other details it's ok, psycho pass green.
We also saw that sybil could be abused in the first psycho pass season, they could have allow the inspector to overide the non-lethal mode, but no xD, ...

Anyway thx @milozz for posting here, helped to see that i'm not the only one to be revolted by such a disgrace.

Now i'm gonna read a bit more of this forum cause I was so pissed that I needed to write this down.
