Before you carry the tangent too far please remember that ideas like these were the standard in lots of different cultures for centuries, perhaps even millenia in some places, and there still may be places where it is practiced to greater or lesser degrees, and Japan is one such place where remnants of different ways of going about marriages is still practiced.

I would venture, though, that practices of arranged marriages or what not in and of themselves are simply another means to an end, just as the conscious act of going out and searching for a spouse on one's own is a different practice as well. There have been plenty of cases where whichever means to the end were utilized the result has been very good or very bad. Getting there is only part of the struggle, and perhaps even a part of lesser (not of no) importance - the main work is after the marriage takes place.

There is nothing inherently wrong, I think, with feeling a particular means to the end of beginning the marriage, family, home or what not is not to one's personal liking or taste.... But when all is said and done it is just a means and not an end.

Hah, that Valentines Day episode was so hilarious. Kobeni's onee-san claiming her and Mashiro her mai waifus are so funny!!!!

Kobeni made chocolate for Hakuya. I'm sure she is starting to fall for him, she starts to blush around him, getting shy when he is close to her.

Man, the anime never fails me...^^

My guess this is the exact same situation why Kagari from WCW does not want Honoka to see her in her orange princess form. imagine Kobeni looking at Hakuya's dog, wolf, werewolf or whatever he turns into and feeling disgust, i think right there Hakuya would prefer to be shoot with a gun instead, it would be less painful and would be a wound that would heal relatively easily. Part is teen angst and part is sheer reality, commoners would be terrified and reduced to blabbering idiots after watching such transformation.

Is it my imagination or Mashiro's family is loaded? For such a young kid to be able to buy so much chocolate eggs without hurting her monthly finances looks odd to me. Also, Mashiro is really smart, getting a 44 after such a grade skip ain0t half bad, I was expectin a 0 to be honest.

I said that because there seems to be a misconception that marriage ruins your life if your partner is not the chosen one.

If she stays married when not having a good relation things may end getting awry and sour for both so separation can be a measure against that.

Yeah it really could be a few things. Wouldn't be surprised with Hakuya's personality to just be worried about the reaction. Pretty sensitive when it comes to any perception of being disliked by Kobeni.

I guess we'll find out soon. Kobeni has been pretty focused on finding out .

Hard to say what the financial situation is for Mashiro's family. I'd assume they have enough money, but at the same time Benio comes home with custom made giant cakes...I'm not sure we can use this episode to interpret the financial state of anyone .

I think the first load (the one bought at the supermarket) was liquefied to make valentine's day chocolate. The second load (the one given as gift) and the giant cakes I have no idea how are they going to eat it all.

I'm not sure what to expect from Hakuya though. While the memories are still fuzzy it's not like Kobeni doesn't have some recollection of his other form. There is a lot of stuff going on and this is a pretty big move into an unfamiliar setting for Hakuya and Mashiro.

Feel like it could be partial worry about Kobeni herself. Just remembering some of what happened knocked her down the other day. Taking things slow as to not overwhelm her health could be a primary worry.

Suppose there's a good reason why Mashiro isn't going to be the one to change forms though (aside from the instability thing), if her other form is at all cute Benio might really never leave her alone .

Remember Kobeni said she gave in to Benio's requests after a couple of years of constant harassment. While it's played for comedy, the idea is that her will has been broken in regards to Benio's sexual harassment. Her will to resist was worn down in the face of years of Benio's unrelenting perversion. It's not that she needs to build confidence in that area, it's that she had it once and Benio tore it down.

I'm not sure that will relate to her relationship with Hakuya, although it might.
