I'm sure they're all great, but the graphic have to be on the level of OverDrive, Shakugan no shana etc etc =P And Ashita no Joe, Hajime no ippo, Slam Dunk, Akoi Densetsu Shoot doesn't meet that criteria >.> Major and Huntry heart looks different though... I'll look em up (= |

Sounds like Prince of Tennis would be your cup of tea then. Though I did lose interest completely in Prince of Tennis once the latter half had too much over-the-top action.
Personally, I think you're missing out way too much of you ignore Hajime no Ippo solely because of the animation style. Would cooking be considered a sport? Asuma in Yakitate Japan! is always in a competition of sorts |

Princess Nine (Very Good sports themed Romance/Drama baseball show. There is an emphasis on training to become better along with several over-the-top techniques. Did I forget to mention that it is a Girl's baseball team )
Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl (Wonderful if not a perfect Sport's drama about a girl who, through years of hard work, prepares herself for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games - comes from Naoki Urasawa, the creator of Monster and 20th Century Boys, so expect some great character development.) Battle Athletes Victory (great late-90s Pioneer TV series in which girls, in the year 4999, compete in a variety of different sporting events to attain the title of Cosmic Beauty, the supreme title of a mistress of sports. The plot is much deeper than this brief synopsis details, in fact the show is rated by animeondvd.com as being one of the best anime released in America. Worth a watch.) I just realized that all of these shows are female dominated. Hajime no Ippo and Slam Dunk have already been thrown aside. You also might like Initial D, a car racing anime/manga about...car racing. I am not sure if that is a sport or not, though. |

Ookiku Furubatte - its very technical (at least to me) in its presentation of baseball; in fact i learend some of the rules through it! Despite that its not boring at all, animation is good, so is the presentation of the story and character and team development.
