Well removal of the bathroom accessories ramps up the rating. Remember Shuffle! without the fanservice it was okay but then the rating went to R-15 with warnings after a certain episode. When it came to R1, it got a TV MA rating. Air Gear was the same way. With censors, no problems. With censors removed, it got a TV MA rating. So removal of the bathroom accessories is about the maximum they will do for episode 1 the TV broadcast. They could touch up Tsubaki's shurinken for the DVD release. R1 tends to downgrade a title for nudity and it would be less marketable here if they did too much more. We won't know for sure until uncut airs and the DVD version is released.

I just happened upon this series on Random Curiosity and I gotta say this has gone to the top of my watch list with CG-R2. After watching the RAW, this is exactly the type of show I needed this season. I love everything about it. The characters interest me, I like the plot premise, fight scenes are incredible, the art direction is unique and eyecatching. I've heard that the anime follows the manga quite closely. That's good to know, especially since its done so well.
Thumbs up to BONES on this one. I now have to go download the manga. About Maka's voice, given I hardly know her personality, I thought it fit her nicely, tho it was abit flat at times. Didnt bother me though.

But I'm sure that there are far more doujin material in Soul Eater, some of the scenes are just plain erotic. |

I can't hold anymore and finally watched the raw.
Awesome fights and animations. Somehow they manage to stay faithful to the manga with altering some part. The only bad thing is, Maka's voice makes my ears bleed. Hopefully she'd improve in later episodes. |

I think it wouldnt be just fanservice that differentiate between both version.. Later fights contain lots of violence/blood too that would be too much for prime time IMHO.

Irie has posted a reply on his blog's bbs about the Soul Taker opening animation. The awesome moving backgrounds in the two camera tracking scenes are in fact -not- animated with any aid of 3D. The entire sequence and background was done traditionally. He truly is one hell of an animator.
