actually I really enjoy the little chapters about the others.
Thing is outta all the lovely lasses here they make Shino the one I like most leave, just my luck hope she comes back soon!!!!

Anyone read vol 18? Lots of development going on in this one, even though that mystery is still not completely resolved, but surely it will be in Vol 19. Looks like the end to this series may be within a couple volumes.

I enjoyed v1 of this a year or more ago and have just come back and read up to v14 with continuing enjoyment.

There is nothing particularly novel about this comic. Having read Suzuka, I've seen almost all of this before. But somehow, Open Sesame manages to make it seem fresh and interesting.

I think it's mainly the characters, who are just about all so likeable. The hero is not so blockheaded as to be too annoying, and the heroine not so nasty as to make you wonder why he has anything to do with her.

And as others have said, the development is slow but real. The characters do keep changing and growing.

I've read vol 20 (last vol) recently.

Does anyone else find it cheesy that Danjou and Mogami happened to chance upon a deserted house that looked exactly like the one where "that incident" happened 7~8 years ago which made him lose his memories? On top of that something also coincidentally happened to recreate a similar incident.

Anyways, the truth got revealed and the both of them finally started dating (officially). The last volume is about them deciding on their future and the series ended with an epilogue after a time skip.

Oh, and Aoi got shafted real bad. The last time she showed up was in vol 17 for a brief appearance.

Yes, she's also his childhood friend. Sometimes Danjou mixed her up with Mogami in his flashbacks because his memories were foggy.

- Danjou realizes he likes Mogami but does not know whether or not to tell her
- Akitsuki Shino comes back and she finds out from Danjou that he likes Mogami (took some convincing before he admitted it)
- Shino then asks to go out on a friendly date with Danjou, and confesses to him
- She almost gets hit by a car, and he pulls her out of the way, but she ends up hugging him tightly (he's nervous)
- Mogami spots them, and they seperate quickly, but then she says out loud to both of them that she likes Danjou.
- Danjou officially rejects Shino
- Danjou confesses to Mogami, but she did not seem to hear (had Ipod earphones plugged into her ears)
- He finds out later that the Ipod was already out of batteries and she just pretended from Mogami's sister.
- He confronts her again, and she admits hearing him. He asks for her answer, and she says "I'm sorry". (He thinks she rejected him).
- Before he could ask her to explain herself, they get interrupted.
- After this, he's feeling down, and avoiding her, but decides to confront her again about her answer.
- She said that she also likes him (SUKI), and he gets excited, but then she drops the bomb and says that although she likes him, she will not go out with him.
- He asks "why?!"
- Mogami tells him it is because he's forgotten, rather, sealed a very important memory, and because of that she will not go out with him.
- Danjou panics at this point and starts asking his dad and sis about any incidents that may have happened in the past, no matter how small it is to no avail.
- He starts remembering bits and pieces about his time in the past with Mogami and Mutsuki.
- He decides to go to Nami island and go see Mutsuki to ask him about Mogami.
- Upon arriving, to his surprise, Mutsuki's home is nowhere to be found.
- He bumps into Aoi, and starts panicking, yelling, not knowing what is going on
- Aoi, acting surprised, then asks Danjou to follow her somewhere...
- They get to a grave, with Mutsuki's name on it.
- It's then then that he finds out Mutsuki died in a fire years ago.
- His first reaction was that he had no idea he died, started panicking, etc...
- Aoi couldn't believe that Danjou did not remember, considering he cried a lot, etc...
- He then runs around town, to the places of memories, and finds a time capsule with some letters inside it, and pictures with the 3 of them as kids.
- He goes back home, and confronts Mogami one more time, shows her the content of the box and asks her if the lost memory is that of their time together and his death, thinking that was the extent of it.
- Mogami although surprised, starts crying and says that there's more...
- She would not Danjou him at first, but then finally breaks down and says that he was the one that killed Mutsuki and runs away.
- Danjou, baffled, not knowing what's going on, just stares at the letter blankly... He then finally realized something he did not remember before, and begins crying. (One of the letters said: "To the future Yamato, I like you... signed Maki"
- The story progresses and things seem back to normal. Mogami spots him working at a cafe with a bunch of cute plump girls, and is jealous
- She then spots him with those girls on and outing and follows them, and at one point, one of the girls asks Danjou if she has a girlfriend, etc... and that she's interested in him
- He immediately tells her there is someone he loves but that he can't go out with her now
- That girl asks why, and he says there is a secret that he absolutely cannot reveal to her no matter what.
- This surprises Mogami a lot, that Danjou mentioned this secret that he cant reveal to her.
- Aoi calls Maki and tells her that she has got it all wrong about Yamato, and that he was not the one that was responsible for Mutsuki's death. Maki tries to pry more info out of her, but Aoi refused to say anything else. (This is the last mention of AOI, yes, she got the shaft).
- The next relevant scene would be the one that Riker described, they find a house which is similar to the one that burnt down where Mutsuki died.
- A fire mysteriously starts and Yamato tells Mogami to get out asap.
- Mogami refuses to budge until he tells her the truth about this secret that he is unable to divulge to her.
- (Flashback to years ago), the 3 of them, Yamato, Maki and Mutsuki were playing hide and seek in the house, which they referred to as their secret base. Mutsuki and Maki hid in a cabinet, and Yamato is the looking for them.
- Mutsuki then asks Maki if she has anyone she likes, but she beats around the bush.
- They then realized that there's smoke, and a fire that's starting and start panicking saying they have to get out of here
- (flash forward to present), the fire is spreading and Maki still refuses to buldge.
- Yamato caves in and reveals to her what happened and what the secret was. It was a promise between him and Mutsuki before Mutsuki died.
- This was explained through another flashback, basically, when Yamato realized there was a fire, he rushed to find the both of them, and then finds Mutsuki, stuck under cement that crumbled from the ceiling and unable move. He tried to move the blocks to no avail. Yamato then asks where Maki is... Mutsuki began panicking and crying. He reveals to him that he left Maki behind (to die) and ran away by himself selfishly. Yamato is surprised by this. Anyway, Mutsuki tells him to go save Maki first, and that he regrets running away. He made Yamato promise him never to reveal to Maki this fact, that was the *secret*. He then went off to save Maki and told Mutsuki he'll be back for sure to save him. (You know what happened next) The firefighter held him back, and Mutsuki was unable to be saved and died.
- He then visited Maki in the hospital and told her that he killed Mutsuki. (This is why she thought he was responsible, because he said so himself). He only said this so Maki would not find out about the truth.
- Now that the misunderstanding is resolved, she decides to cut her hair and looks EXTREMELY SUPER ULTIMATELY CUTE... (I wish I had a scanner or I would show you).
- She says casually to him, "Let's go out", and he just picks her up and start waving her around on the street lol.
- They get to enjoy couple life for a bit, she even initiates their first kiss.
- They time-skip because she decides to study abroad after high-school, so they dont see each other for a while. (Like Ichigo 100%)
- Adult Maki comes back to Japan and she is Hawt
- They live happily ever after...

Note: Like Riker said, Aoi got majorly shafted, I thought she would get a proper rejection, but no... lol. There's a whole bunch of other minor plotlines that happened in between, but I only listed the relevant ones.

Spoiler for final thoughts in a nutshell:

A promising beginning, an average ending, and about twelve to fourteen volumes of filler in between where the main story slows down to a crawl. The mystery that was milked for so much drama at the beginning was eventually shelved for most of the manga, and once revealed was rather underwhelming. What this manga does have going for are pretty drawings and a likable male lead.

Ahhh I tell ya I was honestly very happy when she returned, I was really hoping for something really juicy to happen but it never did, altho I did like when she said she loved him.

Yeah, this series could have been a lot more dramatic but it wasn't. The drama came from their past and that was refreshing although frustrating, especially when we learned the truth...I thought it was something so much worse, haha.

And Mogami looked so cute in this chapter.
