Shin Godzilla is basically an Evangelion movie without Nerv & EVAs. That's not a bad thing though. The Japanese's claim of Shin being a masterpiece is for a reason. Just....prepare yourself for the (eye-rolling?) Engrish pronunciation delivered by one half-Japanese character who is supposed to be a native English speaker representing the US. And Decisive Battle being played when the human team is preparing themselves to counterattack Godzilla is gold . Oh, and Anno also used the original 50s & 90s Godzilla tracks without alteration whatsoever and Godzilla-fans thanked him for it.

2020? that's an incredibly long time to wait, I was hoping that after all these years they'll release something soon, oh well nothing to do about that and the 8 years since the last one, which is enough time to finish one damn movie.

You gotta be shitting everyone! Talk about disrespecting your fanbase, that has to be the top.

People need to learn from Peter Jackson about how to get all projects done within a precise timeline that keeps interest alive.

2020 huh... And I thought the wait for Durarara!! was long. Well, the wait for Index 3 was also a long one, but at least we got Railgun and the movie in-between to ease the suffering.

Well, this is nothing compared to Avatar. That movie was released in 2009, and a sequel started production immediately. The latest news has Avatar II maybe releasing in 2020. James Cameron has dropped everything and worked pretty much exclusively on Avatar II, which left Robert Rodriguez to direct that monstrosity that is Alita: Battle Angel.

Yes, I'm glad that they've finally teased a release date for the Evangelion movie. I hope it sticks this time and is not delayed again. Hopefully, the ending will not be as crazy as the original one.

Flawed comparison, James Cameron has been working on many other projects and TV series, while ANNO has only 1 single movie since the last Rebuild and he's willing to delay that movie for a long time just to come up with a minor trailer and delay it for 2 more years.

Is that Anno had writer's block after 3.0?

Umm... OK....

But I'll humor you. James Cameron hasn't directed a movie since 2009, which is Avatar. Anno hasn't directed a movie since 2012, which is Evangelion 3.0. In between, Cameron has written for some projects. In between Anno has written for some projects. In between, Cameron has produced for some projects. In between, Anno has produced for some projects.

However, my anger for Anno is nothing compared to Cameron. While taking forever, he shelved Battle Angel Alita and then gave it to Rodriguez, who made a monstrosity out of it. However, this is a topic for another day.

I'm just glad that Evangelion is finally getting a release year. Can't wait for the return of the new girl, which is an interesting twist to Shinji's current love triangle, which could turn it into a love square.

One should never forget about Shin Godzilla (2016). That film is a masterpiece of social commentary .

What are you talking about? They disrespected their fanbase long time ago with Rebuild. This piece of trash should have burned in a dumpster fire where it belonged. 2.0 was a horrendous mess and 3.0 was a laughable turn of events after that.

I don't know if commercialism got to Anno on this project but I wish it never completed honestly.

Agreed. To tell you the truth, Shin Godzilla is the first Godzilla film from TOHO having watched either at cinema or at home, and true to the reputation of previous TOHO Godzilla films, from what I've read or heard from, has loads of amounts of political dialogue and/or discussions; that is something which obviously Emmerich's "Zilla" and Legendary Godzilla do not shown or have.

Anyways, returning to the topic of discussion...

Honestly, 2020 doesn't feel too far away date from today, however, if we look back in time to when Rebuild Evangelion 3.00 got released then, indeed, the hiatus and waiting are killing off our expectations and dreams for the conclusion film.

Anno making the audience wait for Rebuild Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is as closely exasperating and frustrating as Cameron making the audience wait for Avatar 2. Since, in Anno's case, the waiting time would have elapsed eight years, whereas for Cameron the waiting would be 11 years.

Well...I'm hoping that Hugo survives this time as the storyline from the trailer looks to be different from the manga.
