I'm amazed at how much air time Luke gets lately. This time it's even less then episode 7. They're placing too much focus on Charlotte's angels and their problem which kinda annoys met because i disliked them at the beginning.
Also, Cecily trained all this time how to swing her sword in a way like Luke and with only that training she's now strong enough to own 3 fighters? Wtf, that power-up is really unreal. |

Nah she didn't level up much >_> those girls had already lost to her earlier.
They can't fight period. The irony in this story is that those 3 lame girls were able to get their hands on demon swords easily while the villain "Man in Black" is unable to . She just graduated from noob to novice Also since there is Blacksmith in the title doesn't that sort of make Luke the star |

I'd agree with that. It didn't look to me like Cecily beat Margot, Penelope and Doris because she'd improved her swordsmanship or hand-to-hand skills. She won because she started thinking about tactics and how to properly use Aria.

Well that puts on end to that little side story. It was actually pretty good nearing the end. Cecily taking that level in badass was a bit unreal in ways but we still got a very nicely animated fight in the conclusion.
That said, this is called Seiken no Blacksmith, but the blacksmith is mostly absent. Luke needs some screetime as he's getting very little developlment if at all. Lisa's gotten a lot more than he has.

That ends that anyways. At least Cecily showed that despite calling herself an idiot can learn from the past and develop better tactics. At least is getting used to the idea of working with Aria and came up with some better moves. Besides it wasn't 3 on 1 but a series of 1 on 1 fights. That definitely gave her a better chance along with being able to use the territory better. That cluttered room gave her room to strike down the first and then being in a hallway gave the second nowhere to run in order to avoid that thrust.
Anyways maybe Luke will get involved now that this is over . He's taken falling to a supporting character pretty well.

Spoiler for Little spoiler:
This little pathetic drama is horribly bad it was painful to watch it. I think this ep will take the cake of being the worst ep of the show. |

Loved 8th ep.! 10/10 from me ^^
There were some smart moves in scenario this time. Good job Manglobe! I especially liked the way out of trouble for Charlotte that Cecily proposed - to "revoke the name of E". Guess she's not that stupid as she claims herself ^^ (Well I was expecting that Cecily will be the main defender for Charlotte, but thought she will choose to fight empire troops. Was kinda surprised when she came with idea to make Charlotte's bunch and Charlotte herself to change their goals. And she even fought for this idea of hers! Seriously, I'm in love with Cecily's "protect everyone" side ^^) Nice storytelling this episode too - there were several "emotionally high" moments! Bitchclap being one of them ^^ Also nice job with the "wind rocket" scene. Made me rewatch it like 4 times ^^ A pity the girlies leaving T_T Hope they'll come back for the final showdown ^^ And now, my favorite quote of the episode. No matter how disgraceful you live, find your own happiness by living as long as you can. - Cecily Cambell.

If it's 12/13 then they gotta hurry the fuck up. I mean the OP shows alot of scenes and stuff but now it's been pretty relaxing and nothing really happening .. I hope for 24 episodes .. The series ain't that great but it's worthy of watching and the winter season of new anime isn't offering anything that interesting ;<.

The anime seems to have done it that way for the sake of lengthening the fight and showcasing each of the girls a bit more. Unfortunately, it also makes Margot, Penelope and Doris look like complete idiots for splitting up and being defeated in detail.
Spoiler for novel comparison:

Yeah i really hope they develop Lukes character more in the upcoming episodes. Hes a bit mysterious right now. Which wouldn't be a bad thing but so far he hasn't had any real kind of screen time about *him*. We've seen him fight but we know very little about him. He kind of shows up, saves Cecily, gets abused by Cecily, then the focus is switched off him onto someone else.
