More like they all regularly visit Earth, so taking human form is common. Don't forget that Nyaruko had been on Earth often enough to have a customer loyalty card. It is policy that human culture be disrupted as little as possible, as it would otherwise harm Earth's main export. So taking human form when visiting would be the law of the galaxy.

Didn't Mahiro seem too easy to trust Nyarko? The original Nyarlalothep is a Malignant Trickster, and he indicated that he's read the Lovecraft books before, so I'm surprised he trusts anything she says at all.
Side note - If Nyarko's really nice, does that mean Lovecraft bullshited/exaggerated his stories in that universe? He couldn't have possibly just made those stories and coincidentally named them after the exact species and attributes of the aliens.

In-universe this is pretty much what happened. Lovecraft met and somehow befriended a Nyarlathotepian, but didn't really liked the stories of space and aliens his friend talked about, so he "embellished" stuff to turn them into horror stories. A lot of the stuff he wrote are based on the truth his friend told him about though (like the aliens really having mind-blasting real forms, and only choosing human forms for convenience).

Hastur's humanoid....sort of.
@ Myssa Rei - Does Mahiro know that? I don't remember a scene of her saying the stories are false. Still, that's interesting to know. @ Noobita - Both, most likely. Of course, this is impossible already. He's seen Nyarue's true form in Love(craft-sensei) and he didn't lose his sanity or even seem bothered by it at all.

I wouldn't trust the prettiest girl in the world if she had, and confirmed, that she had the name was one of the most Dickish tricksters of all time without significant proof she's legit. At least Hastur has a positive interpretation, Nyarlalothep's a monster every time he's/she's shown.
