The political system employed in principle is not the problem, whether EU was evangelizing capitalism, socialism, the "third way", euro-communism, stalinism, maoism, trotskyism, fascism or whatever, since the central burocracy as well as each government operate independantly, serving their own legal and illegal benefactors... in effect they operate in anarchy or to be more precise since they serve certain companies and financial institutions that would make it anarcho-capitalism.

Japan has for example worse debt than Greece, like Germany destroyed its energy infrastructure, and they are ruled by one political organization more corrupt than those of South Korea and China. Is any of those evaluation houses worried... nope as they didn't for all those european countries a couple of years ago.

Legacy of corruption still exists in South Korea

When these facts gets mixed with 2 other facts, protestant Christians are the largest religious group in Korea, and there is cultural tradition of forcing homogeneity upon all residing in the land, we get this distortion of truth.

Korean ethnic nationalism

As I said before, part of the fault also lies with Korean Scientists and medical professionals as they very seldom bothered to speak out against outdated informations in Korean Biology Text books, making it very vulnerable to Creationist attack.

Controversy and Criticism

I would not blame them since I can't recall any example around the world where scientists not assigned to the task of updating school books have gone out of their daily routine to ask politicians to update them.

It would be interesting if the supplier uses this money to acquire more land to get more hogs and feed; he would be drinking martinis and champagnes instead of beer.
Or he'd just be further in debt as no one can afford to buy more of his meat.

But really, if it was that simple, the German tourist would be unneeded. The problems:
- the Greeks don't owe it all to each other;
- they're not all owed as much money as they owe;
- are they really in that much hurry to pay it back?

The problem in Korea runs deeper. Many academicians fear speaking out against status quo.

Well... they're going to drive themselves into irrelevancy in the scientific realm that's for sure (with a commiserate loss of culture, etc).

Sounds like an assault team of ninja atheists is needed

China changes patent law in fight for cheaper drugs

(Reuters) - China has overhauled parts of its intellectual property laws to allow its drug makers to make cheap copies of medicines still under patent protection in an initiative likely to unnerve foreign pharmaceutical companies.
The question is; what's next ?

U.N. could tax U.S.-based Web sites, leaked docs show

"The United Nations is considering a new Internet tax targeting the largest Web
content providers, including Google, Facebook, Apple, and Netflix, that could cripple
their ability to reach users in developing nations.

The European proposal, offered for debate at a December meeting of a U.N. agency
called the International Telecommunication Union, would amend an existing
telecommunications treaty by imposing heavy costs on popular Web sites and their
network providers for the privilege of serving non-U.S. users, according to newly
leaked documents."

Last I heard, the UN doesn't have any authority to levy "taxes" and this sounds like a European protectionist scheme just in case there's some "Euro-youtube" or "EU-googly" company. I suspect the WTO jurisdiction trumps...

It may sound like it from the headline, but if you read the article... It's more like European network providers want more money.

Scary thing is, I think it will get worse if the Korean ruling party wins the presidential election later this year.

Don't know just how seriously I should take the exaggerated views on both Koreas that Animesuki tends to take in this thread.

F**K them and they eternal opposition stance. They need to be stamped down once in a while.

I doubt it, given that the Christian base within the Saenuri Party (seriously, I'm still sort of going WTF at the use of red as the main party color) has been seriously eroded. Furthermore, there has been enough of a backlash within the Christian groups to prevent further political activities.

"Brothers" here is closer to the meaning of "siblings".

Care to give us some news clippings about this, preferably in English?

Hard to find actual news about it. What I can say is that with the recent problems with Yoido Full Gospel Church has sent shockwaves throughout the Korean Protestants, and with Saenuri coming under practical control by the more moderate Park faction, one can say that political Protestantism is lost major elements of its rather arrogant ways of doing things during Lee's term.
