It can keep me glued to the screen so that I have to watch my every action or else it will be game over.

And too fast? Okay, fine alright it's fast. Is that a bad thing? Gears was an exceptionally fun game, but thanks to them, cover-based whack-a-mole type gunplay is way too prevalent for 3rd-person shooters. I'm glad I'm now a more agile character this time around. |

And I don't mind fast games, (I've played Sonic Unleashed for pete's sake and you need reflexes of lightning for most of the harder stuff) but it just doesn't really seem to work with a shooting game. Seems to make it needlessly trickier. I can't comment on Gears of War. I don't have a 360 nor will I ever get one, and I don't have a PC efficient enough for gaming, so I can't compare. I like some of Platinum Games' works (Bayonetta, MadWorld) and I REALLY like their stuff from back when they were Clover Studios, (Viewtiful Joe, Okami) so I don't doubt it'll be good, just tricky and therefore, frusturating.

Some of the stuff IS kinda tricky, but ironically it's mostly the bullet time maneuvers; to do slow-mo while boosting, I have to hold the slide button and hold down the aim trigger to activate it, all while trying to aim at enemies zooming by me. That's the trickiest thing I've encountered, but everything else is actually pretty simple. It looks more tricky than it is no doubt because a ton of animation goes into each action.
and speaking of Sonic, I gots to finish that game already :/ |

Well the truth is there's not alot of acrobatics (yet) from the first demo, and spamming slow-mo would just land you into trouble fast.
But you can play it like any other 3rd person shooter, with slowmo and speed boost as a bonus.

The second demo handed my ass in a platter and served it for breakfast. Three times.
It's a "challenge" mission where you are put into an area and are timed to kill waves of units. Having forgotten how to play since the demo, I died quite quickly the first time. Second and third attempts brought me to the third round, but I stopped after that. I'll come back to it when I have time! (maybe not). |

He had about 20 bullets left, the guy was right in front of him, and he didn't even THINK of using melee at all? Just shows how "not playing it right" can be quite boring to watch.
But it looks it shaping to be a good game! |
