I knew that he was going to play the avoidance game the moment he started to notice people seeing them together. Fortunately it didn't last much of the episode and Marin was able to pull him out of his worried mindset to proceed with the episode.

There wasn't anything too deep(outside Gojo's ideal of beautifulness), but they had a good rapport with one another. Pretty much a date in everything but name. It was a simple, fun time, and I really enjoyed their time together. Goes to show me that you only need two good characters with a good relationship to make an entertaining watch.

Also want to give a nod to the music used in this episode. It was REALLY good and enhanced the overall feel-good aura of the scenes it accompanied. Unfortunately I can't properly communicate how much I liked it better than this =0(...

Yeah, thought the same about Marin's friends =03. Definite plus in my book.

I was also a bit surprised Marin's friends were so genuinely friendly with Gojo, but I guess it makes perfect sense given Marin's personality. The first thing we found about Marin was that she hates people who look down on others (for their hobbies or whatever), so it would have been weird for her to hang out with a bad crowd. Would be nice to see more of them, but Marin's all I need.

Gojo avoiding Marin but he doesn't want people to gossip about her was very much like him. Marin doesn't care what people say about her, of course. If she did, she wouldn't be openly talking about anime and eroge characters in the classroom.

The shopping was nice, and I was happy that Marin attempted to pay him back in her own way. She's been asking a lot out of him, after all. Gojo mentioning the part he was at in Slippery girls with the people overhearing being all "WTF" was hilarious. Gojo is an odd guy, he gets embarrassed over an indirect kiss but is totally fine talking about porn with the same girl. Him explaining how special the word "beautiful" is to him was definitely foreshadowing.

Man, I'm loving this show. And I could definitely relate to Marin when she said no one actually ever plays or watches what she recommends them.

Marin did won the lottery with him, and now she has a guy to talk about the game she loves, he even know little details about the game that even marin didn't pay attention.

He is doing something amazing for her making this outfit and treat him is the least she could do. I believe she will think is not enough when she sees the complete outfit.

Like Komi-san, where the protagonist looks quite ugly, I get it, but Goujo looks like a fairly handsome and tall high schooler, so... I don't really know why people treat him like he looks like Komi-san's guy. But whatever gets him running, I guess.

It's nice to see that the whole "Gojo avoiding Marin" thing didn't last long and was easily taken care of. It was also nice to see how mice and welcoming her friends were to him. It makes sense Marin's friends would be cool too.

That entire part of people overhearing them talking about the eroge outside the restaurant was pretty funny.

Marin: "I can't get full unless I eat rice!"

Well, she'd get along well with most Javanese people here .

Also, like everyone else said, it's nice to see a welcoming group of side-character highschool girls, especially towards an unknown boy. It's probably not realistic, but given Marin's personality, her group of friends really should be comprised of open-minded, understanding & nice individuals.

Haha, that's probably most of us here trying to get everyone on the outside to give our favorite anime so much as a glance!

Yeah, the show is... progressing nicely. Sure, Marin was a bit (unrealistically) forward about getting her measurements taken. Her embarrassment at the end was nice, but... sheesh, she needs to realize that any decent guy is gonna want a disclaimer and a permission slip to look at her/measure her. Yes, the anime was playing up that awkwardness, but I wish she'd just said "I know this is a bit unusual, but I trust you to do this right..." or something.

Still, I liked this latest episode because it didn't dwell on that, and in fact pushed forward in a lot of ways. Gojo got his attention to detail appreciated. He got support for his philosophy of being careful about what he calls beautiful. It'll be interesting to see where things go from here.

Also... is the younger cosplay girl they looked at on the phone the same girl who is taking notice of the Slippery Girls in-store video display in the op? If so, is that an older sister beside her? Potential love triangle for Gojo??

I'm also glad the whole avoidance thing didn't drag out any longer than it did. Not that I don't get the level of discomfort he was feeling and the unease. But in the end nothing is going to happen if he's spending too much time avoiding her.

It is going to be crunch time with only a couple weeks to get this done. Of course in reality it doesn't matter that much. I'm sure if Gojo breaks down how much work will be involved in getting this cosplay put together that Marin wouldn't mind holding off for a later event. But I'm sure Gojo being Gojo won't point that out immediately.

Definitely appreciate Marin's friends being pretty relaxed. And it does make sense. While they may not share all her hobbies, she isn't going to hang out with them if they were bad people. So at least avoids conflict in that sense.

Indeed. I can already see the crescendo to the scene where Gojo blurts out that Marin looks "beautiful" and the romantic hijinks that follow from that. Bring it on! This show is so refreshingly wholesome while still providing plenty of service.

It might limit the amount of time he can spend making hina costumes. Grandpa might wonder what's up.

I'm glad Marin was confident enough to just power through Gojo's fears instead of spending several eps on this BS.

The modeling thing is just a rumor. I'm pretty sure her actual job is surprisingly (for her schoolmates who don't know her) mundane.

Tadano is supposed to be average, not ugly. His whole schtick is that he's incredibly average at everything.

As for Gojo, he just radiates low self-esteem. There was a (non-H) doujin deconstructing Komi where that happened to her and her beauty didn't blind everyone around her to her flaws. She was very unpopular there too.

He knows what's up. His grandson's finally at that age where he gets interested in girls more than toys.

I don't get any sense Wakana is trying to hide it from him (and see no reason why he should).

Yeah, supposed to, just like what Goujo is supposed to be.
But having the smallest pupils in the world, a hole in his head, and a flower in his hair... That ain't average.

Miyazaki-style meat-wrapped onigiri is a thing?

I've visited Japan eight times now and nobody told me meat-wrapped onigiri existed until now?

[Types furiously on online flight booking websites, looks up shinkansen schedules for Tokyo-Miyazaki...]

I wasn't referring so much to his having a relationship with Marin as Gojo being less able to pay attention to his work on the hina dolls. I think Grandpa would be happy to see Gojo become interested in a girl. But this particular girl brings along baggage that might interfere with the doll business.

Still I don't get the sense that the dolls are flying off the shelves.

In before this shifts from a cosplay romcom to an in-depth look at the Japanese hina doll industry .

I'm sort of intrigued by this. How far on the spectrum was she to Kuroki Tomoko?

I think I might be able to appreciate this series more if Gojo wasn't such a wet noodle. I haven't disliked a protagonist so much in a long time, and I'm mostly indifferent to Marin so it makes the series insufferable. I might stick around for the memes and fanart but I really don't know if I can take it.

I don't know, I haven't read Watamote. But she mostly acted like in the main series - the difference (aside from a less clean artstyle) was in the reaction of the people around her.
