Honestly I don't see why girls playing eroge is a problem.
I'm a helping hand in cosplayer team when I'm young, and girls in said team were playing eroge. At first I myself confused but after forced to play it in way similar to Gojo (my friend didn't want me to help until I learned one-two visual novels to understand their scope of character works), I learned that 90's visual novel in general got pretty appealing character design and nice writing to complement that so I can see the interest; effectively made me a visual novel reader too, eroge included. Funny that some people unable to accept it despite it coming from Japan, where female doing RX-78 cosplay is completely normal. Is it an elitist act by telling me to read one or two VN beforehand? Who am I to decide but honestly, as a team, its problem if you don't know in and out of works you're working with. I'm not the main actor on the team but I genuinely didn't want there's person in our team still questioning importance of Hare Hare Yukai dance after deciding we're going with Haruhi cosplay; learning is part of process and we got good laugh as when we all danced I messed up and gave up just like Sugita in one of his video. ![]() Tailor definitely need to do it, especially when it comes to manga and visual novel characters as sometimes the design is not that kind in actual practice. Fate's Saber for example. She's from eroge too, you know. Her skirt armor looks nice in CG, but after our team practicing movement, we decided not to make it three separate plates but one big plate drawn so it looks like three separate plates. By now, I believe cosplay shop in Japan already got Saber costume available for sale, if not majority of popular characters such as Char Aznable, even Kamado Tanjiro.

Posts about Marin's innocence regarding porn and sexuality remind me how vocal Ohno, Genshiken's original cosplay queen, was about her love of flicking the bean to yaoi doujinshi. Porn written for women to enjoy, not sex-slave eroge written for men to enjoy degrading women. Ohno really enjoyed it as well; although she took her time moving in with Tanaka, Genshiken was a manga where it was actually acceptable for women to have sex. The expectations placed on the modern sexual fantasy mean that Marin has to be a 'virgin whore', constantly sexualised and titillating, enduringly innocent and unspoilt. Her love for male-gratifying eroge and cosplay is there for the same reason the women in those porn games conveniently happen to derive unspeakable pleasure from being brutalised and humiliated by males. Whatever justifications the manga throws up for this core plank of its premise, the question remains cui bono, and the answer is the fans getting serviced.
There are likely women who enjoy degrading porn games, and I can't object to them using said games for their own enjoyment. Marin is a commercial character using these games and costumes for male viewers' enjoyment. The virgin fetishisation isn't as unacceptably strong with Marin as with, say, Priestess in Goblin Slayer. I don't object to unforced, tasteful fanservice, only the dehumanising contrivance of such an unnatural and twisted character for the purpose of male fanservice, turning every sensible line about self-realisation into worthless hypocrisy. Painful to read. 'Dominant' sex, removed for commercial purposes from a real consentual relationship, is generally a codeword for brutal misogy, catering to a created male need for female degradation and a created female need to deny their own strength. |

All I know is I really want to play Slippery Girls 2 after her description.
There's 18+ otome games as well -- not that I could imagine Marin wanting to cosplay a frumpy otoge protagonist. There's a reason almost everyone reincarnated into an otome game ends up a villainess. |

Reminds me cosplayer in our team mentioned its not fun cosplaying otome games protagonist; The antagonist tend to be more interesting as they usually got better design and character background to pull for cosplay. With all the villainess isekai stories nowadays, I can see Marin is thinking similar as looks like she's unlike Koyanagi in Wotakoi who commit into cosplaying male characters.

And that’s great - vive la porn. Girls loving eroge is perfectly natural and Marin being one of them is not one of the many problems I had with this episode. What I did have a problem with was her being totally fetishized for 20 minutes, a development which casts her either as unbelievably clueless or kind of cruel, and a joke which wasn’t that funny being dragged out for an entire episode instead of the two or three minutes of life it had in it.

Otherwise I'm not sure how I feel about the animation in this series... its heavily 3DCG but it hides it really well. |

![]() I think Marin is just a very outgoing, confident, girl who didn't think too deeply about it beyond it being the most practical way for Gojo to take her measurements (thanks to the thin distinction between swimsuits and underwear). I don't think she was intentionally messing with him at all, but she's also just very naturally sexy...

If nothing else the show definitely manages to capture sexy in a better way than other shows. Just nicely done overall while also moving the story along. They've got the measurements, Gojo has research material, and should be able to take some steps forward in getting that cosplay done. Which is good since this isn't going to be a one and done thing

At the risk of angering Marin simps I don't really get the appeal aside from being the unicorn gyaru/otaku hybrid. |

On a base level, she is supremely hot, but she's also passionate, accepting, warm, and just generally wholesome and kind. The complete package ![]()
