It was pretty obvious, but Meridiana's part clarified that since their Queen Sutriona is a Break News who just wanders around Grandnir, their actual leader is Elder Morgan. The next two parts basically reveal what had Beatrice so worried in the human world, as they appear to be in the brink of war, a situation a Piece known as Imortalise would likely exacerbate. It's curious to see two Nonhumans discuss humans like that, since we have the innocent and naive view of Boo-Boo and the experienced view of Sutriona. Guess now we also know how she learned wrestling moves. Next thing will probably be fighting Elkiad.

I find the way the fights against Gimmicks work very interesting, and as mentioned by Beatrice, mistakes there would probably make people very angry at you.

Well, there's not much to say since the first volume is still being translated, but I can give you a small summary of the setting and prologue:

Humans discovered an alternate fantasy world, Grandnir. There's a super dungeon there called the Labyrinth, and humans had a lot of trouble with it at first since we kind of suck compared to its Traps and Gimmicks (mechanical guardians of the Labyrinth). This changed when an unknown person/group released the first Piece (breakthrough of human tech & design made through Grandnir's magic proccesing techniques), which was used to make Shining Weapons. Shining Weapons are used by humans to cast Magic, gain EXP and level up in a system that allows them to challenge the Labyrinth. Now the humans who enter Grandnir use magic processing to make more Pieces that they try to sell in the human world, though most only seem to do that on the side in a "might as well try to make some money out of it" mentality, as becoming stronger and learning magic in an alternate world is what actually draws them to the Labyrinth.

The main character Beatrice is one of the strongest humans, so much she was basically asked to stop coming to Grandnir for a while so as to let other people there grow stronger. Before leaving she made a marriage promise with Boo Boo, who she thought was a Miniature Orc (which stay as basically small cute pig Orcs all their life). Upon coming back she finds out he was actually a Iberian Orc, and took his promise of becoming stronger for her very seriously.

Filinion in swimsuit and in the human world. Turns out she's a miko. I think her chest is even bigger outside Grandnir, which will probably freak out Beatrice given her comment in V1C2:

As always, she was showing off her breasts that Beatrice could only call “gluttonous”, but Beatrice was smugly certain that her type was much less impressive back in their original world.

Just like vol 1 had designs for Elkiad members, we have the designs of a guy and a girl from a new guild: グルアガッハ. The guy looks like the Illness Magic User, shame that he will probably be a one-note antagonist like the Pure Knight in vol 1, but Kamachi could surprise us.

Okay, I was having a weird sense of deja vu looking at this design, so I checked what Mahaya said in his blog with GT. Once I read her name I checked in JP wiki and yes, that's apparently Tselika Wien Alpha Chelydia Lumidrier, as a Succubus Break News. Kamachi is likely just reusing the name, but it's still a nice reference, like Amatsu Ayumi from the vampire & zombie web novel having a Boo Boo camisole. Her discarded designs are interesting, though the last one definitely had too many eyes.

Besides Sutriona, the sketches indicate the Thousand Dragon is back and that the climax of the volume might take place on the human world.

Spoiler for V1C2P9-10:

Beatrice, Armelina and Filinion meet in Grandnir to make the Piece that will stop the Imortalise problem, but they get attacked by Elkiad before they can scan and register the finished Piece, so they start to flee to search a safe place to do so. On the way they are attacked by Elkiad goons, who turn out to have bypassed the impossibility of bringing firearms and other weapons into Grandnir by making their own, such as flashbangs, rifles, pistols and even a rocket launcher. We also see more of Beatrice's magic, Armelina's weapon and Filinion's support magic, which is good since C1 didn't let Beatrice do much, as her beating the Pure Knight wasn't shown.

I have the feeling Elkiad are a group of soldiers from some nation in the human world who's interested in the Imortalise.

Looking at Mahaya's notes, Tselika from ZW has something to do with one of the characters, there maybe some connection between BooBoo and ZW.

I bought vol 2 yesterday. It came with a 4 page SS Index Vs Beatrice. The illustrations are also pretty interesting.

Elkiad making weapons in Grandnir was pretty smart. It even got the best of Beatrice and her party. Neat how Beatrice's parameter enhancements ended up working against her and even Filinion will have trouble if they take too long given she has to monitor her willpower gauge. I laughed when Elkiad pulled out a rocket launcher after Armelina's remark.

I'm glad battles aren't off screen in this. I was a bit worried about that. I look forward to once we get to scenes where they explore the Labyrinth and fight Gimmicks and what the Labyrinth is.

Despite their best efforts Beatrice, Armelina and Filinion get cornered in a building. As I suspected, Elkiad are delinquent soldiers from a country in the real world, so while individually much weaker than the girls, they are very good in tactics. Fortunatelly, Boo Boo noticed the explosion of the rocket launcher and comes to help. Yeah, after the beatdown he gave to the Thousand Dragon, suffice to say Elkiad couldn't do much against him, especially since he's fast enough to dodge their bullets and grab a rocket mid-air. We also see the leader of Elkiad, I think he's not done yet considering there's a chapter left and he got a unique design.

Unfortunately, the people in the inn town are scared of Boo Boo and his power now, but Sutriona softens the situation by playing the villain. You can understand why she called the Thousand Dragon weak, her wings are pretty overpowered. But even if the town's people distrust Boo Boo, Filinion and Armelina know he's a good guy, so as the last part says, the circle of friends keeps growing.

Boo Boo is a beast in combat. Loved seeing the Elkiad soldiers getting overwhelmed and baffled at his strength. Also, a really heartwarming moment when Boo Boo was relieved to know he was right to trust Beatrice after she explained the situation to him, but that only made the following part painful to read with how he was treated. I was already liking Sutriona, but her playing the unsung hero and helping Boo Boo definitely made her a favorite. And yep, the circle of friends is expanding thanks to his actions.

I wonder what nation Elkiad soldiers are from. It's interesting getting to know the political situation in the real world.

We have some cute and funny moments as Beatrice and the others prepare Boo Boo's first birthday party. Unfortunately, the Elkiad leader ruins it, trying to kill Boo Boo after getting his hands in Lorelei, a sword Break News. He's defeated by Beatrice, who has to be stopped by Boo Boo from killing him. Not happy with that he taunts Boo Boo by revealing humans killed his family, and the Shining Weapon he carries belonged to one of the people who participated on that attack.

I was wondering where the other Iberian Orcs where, didn't expect Boo Boo to be the last one. And even after Boo Boo, who's quite angry, sad and confused at the revelation, manages to calm down due to his friendship with Beatrice, the Elkiad leader still manages to piss off Beatrice, so now we are back to Boo Boo stopping her from killing the bastar.

Lesson learned from Chapter 3 so far: Humans are disgusting creatures. D:

This connects pretty nicely with the talk Sutriona and Boo Boo had back in Chapter 2. Boo Boo unfortunately ends up learning the hard way. I had thought that maybe in a twisted way the festivals would actually be celebrating the death of monsters like him but put it aside given the overall tone established so far... but Kamachi as expected did not hold back for Boo Boo or Beatrice. Kudos to Boo Boo though, he's determined to not let Beatrice cross the line and kill the man all for the sake of not letting his only pillar of support crumble.

Elkiad are 100% pieces of shit though. Was kind of hoping one of them would silence him for good.

Spoiler for V1 C3 + Epilogue + Afterword:

Very good climax with the fight between Beatrice and Boo Boo. I was going to complain at the end of the volume about how Boo Boo got the most action and Beatrice's parts were either unseen or not given much details, but I can see why Kamachi did this, it gives this last section of chapter 3 more impact when Beatrice shows just what she can do with her fire magic. Fortunately, Boo Boo manages to defeat Beatrice and calm her down, thanks to some outside intervention that springs another mistery: the previous owner of Boo Boo's Shining Weapon stored the souls of the Iberian Orcs in it, so there might be a way to resurrect them. I guess we have a main goal now.

Very interesting afterword. I had noticed the lack of names for male characters and the lack of scenes for the Labyrinth, but I didn't realize this meant that the Thousand Dragon was female. And now that Kamachi points it out, this novel does combine aspects from most of his previous works into one package.

So far, both Blood Sign and this, which I was both doubtful, have surprised me and won me over. Hoping for more volumes of Beatrice and Boo Boo's adventures in Grandnir.

I wasn't really expecting much from this, but it was a pleasant surprise.

The ending to the first novel was a nice way to end things. We finally got to see just how powerful and versatile Beatrice is with fire and there is a chance that Boo Boo can see his people again.

So is the Thousand Dragon a future harem member?
