The word-of-mouth factor is very significant. Although the Otaku might be a small segment of the overall market, their weight in influencing others are becoming heavier given the advent of instantaneous exchange of information. The fact that we know they're out there hitting the streets and getting the words out on Haruhi ED is enough return for their efforts in itself.

Oh no! its the clash of the Historians.

I wonder If Haruhi would find Historians boring or exciting?

This can go on forever.. (In retrospect MaCarthyism was "unpleasant", so what? There's too many unpleasant things and too few good things to focus on)
but it's too sequencial and too dull to be bothered with here.

Going back to how things are going with respect to Haruhi. I have to say that KyoAni really has kept up the quality of work since day 1 and they've been constantly throwing curveballs at the fans. This is commendable on their part for keeping true to the spirit of Haruhiism and break all norm. Although the art style is 'moe-esque', the story from day 1 has been in a class of its own. It only makes me want to follow the anime more and more (having read the book didn't really spoil the 'freshness' of the anime either)

I wonder why Haruhi got so angry in episode 05 during the straw picking?

It not like Kyon, Mikuru and Yuki haven't been alone together.

It's not rational, but its typical Haruhi to get angry about nothing....

Yuki insatible urge for information....

I like that little attention to detail.

Spoiler:

Yuki, kawaii!

It's probably because Haruhi never gets enough time to fully pester Kyon to the best of her abilities :P

yeah i bet her form of affection, is to pester someone. If she really doesn't like you, she just ignores you.

True, that -- in Haruhi's universe, the only people worth taking notice of are the ones who are interesting. The others are just so much background noise.

In the case of Kyon, however, he's clearly a special case. Notice that it sometimes seems that everything Haruhi does is somehow calculated to involve Kyon, and to seek his approval. (Love? Maybe. Or maybe just narcissism.)

Spoiler:

Edited to add spoiler tags -- sorry, stupid of me.

woo! spoilers galore (but only for those who havent watched yet of course)
I see Kyon as more of a trigger. It seems more and more apparent throughout the episodes that most of Haruhi's decisions revlove around 2 things: her (and I use that term REALLY loosely) boredom and Kyon. Still it is not known what would happen if Kyon suddenly ceased to exist or if say Kyon had had enough and decided to ignore her.

Spoiler for probably belongs in future speculations anyways:

I remember a character from this fantasy book, it was about this magician who was very athletics, but was always clumsy and was picked on by the other magician because he didn't displayed any magical powers that was unique to every one.
At the end though, they discovered he was armed with the most powerful magic of all. The power to make all magical related attacks that were diverted at him to fail, and they never noticed because when it activates it made him look clumsy.

Remind me of Kyon. But with out the clumsy side-effect.

Having just re-watched the first (hilarious) episode again, I get the feeling there's a lot more to Kyon than maybe he (and certainly I) knows. I think that in a way Itsuki's character in that first episode might have been Kyon. I'm probably way off base but the dialogue at the 13-minute mark between itsuki and Yuki made me think that. Also interesting in this scene is when Itsuki looks at the camera (Kyon).

Also, the teachers barging onto the roof after the battle scene with the firecrackers is one of the funniest things ever.

No, Koizumi wasn't playing as Kyon, he was simply playing his "character". BUT, the conversation between Koizumi and Yuki inside Tsuruya-san's house (the part where Yuki had one foot in the room, yeah, they borrowed Tsuruya-san's house for that scene) WAS about Kyon. They were basically carrying on a serious converstation about Kyon outside of Haruhi's direction, without Haruhi (and even the cameraman Kyon) realizing about it (since Haruhi told them to improvise the lines themselves).

Early, early "beta" version midi for Hare Hare Yukai. (by request ;-)

It's sorta like the 2nd Death Star - big gaping holes and partially-completed structure jutting out all over the place, but everything that's there more or less belongs where it is...

In other words, it's really rough and only half the song, but it'll get your phone ringing if you've been waiting for a ringtone.

Please *don't* mirror this one, as I'd like to be able to update it easily as it gets better. (If you missed the earlier post, go back to Page 43 for the midi of the Ep 1/0 opening.)

http://ardee-as-files.s3.amazonaws.c...ehareyukai.mid

A bunch of things about it don't sound quite right to me, so if you have any ideas what's wrong, please let me know!

(file updated with some glissando 20 minutes after posting. If you got it before this edit, get it again)
