They packed a lot into this episode, too. The overall "one year since Aoba started/let's have a flower viewing" stuff is chapter 43, but there's also about half of chapter 26, all of chapter 27, and all of chapter 32 in here as well.

Of course, they had to change some important fundamental details to bring a chapter from that far ahead in this early, and as a result we have the lingering question of what the heck this company has been doing all winter, since Fairies 3 was released in the fall of the previous year. But hey, don't mind the details.

Episode 1:

It's really nice to see everyone back again. We have Nene and Umiko having some ice cream together which I thought was cute. The project "Nene Quest" also was discussed. As expected, Umiko still has her airsoft guns that she brings to work. (I still find that gimmick to be hilarious tbh)

Episode ended with a picnic and damn, these girls really know how to enjoy life. Nice episode, really enjoyed the return of New Game!

well they say so "all we're doing is helping other teams", so it is probably bug fixing. plus hajime is in animation team and that is often part of bug fix too.

nice start of s2 really, i waited so long to see nene's and umiko's restaurant date too (yes, i'll call it a date ).

seem we'll go off course and add non manga material this season, can't wait to see it ! i hope the new chara will blend well with our crew !

Those two aren't non-manga characters. They've appeared in artbooks, and I believe will show up in volume 6.

Maybe they did some dlc work for fairies 3 or maybe some outsourcing work for other games just to keep the teams busy while developing the next game concept. Either way I'm not too bothered by that minor detail, I don't really watch this for the accuracy when it comes to real life fame development

Overall this was a great re-introduction episode for the series. Everyone got their time and there were lots of interesting character moments like Nene making her game or Hifumi showing some cute af smiles

Aren't DLC game development common nowadays? I mean for example, development is still continuing for Final Fantasy XV, despite it already finished. (Although for me, online multiplayer would instantly make the game more playable again.)

And with that comes new animations / creative designs / etc.

A lot of it can be reasoned out without difficulty, which is why I personally would say never to sweat the details in any Kirara manga and their anime adaptations In this case, Aoba and the others were probably working on non-character assets, such as environment objects (furniture and the like); it makes sense, since they can continue to build these in preparation for future games, where the assets can be used.

Having an explanation, no matter how implausible, gives it some grounding. Of course, the actual reason is to appeal to the expected demographics

Quite common: things like Battlefield 1 are constantly being patched even if it's not for things like DLC. Even single-player campaigns occasionally need some patching. With that being said, I don't think that it's ever mentioned as to whether or not "Faeries Story" has DLC, so it is possible that the art team is working on concepts and inanimate entities during the intermission between their games
