A small drop, but yeah- it is consistent.
This is both BD and DvD right? If so, then yes it's as expected for me.

i feel like this is a bit of a disappointment in sales to me unlike the index movie which sold very well.

Yep both combined to make the total straight from mania:

Railgun S v2 sells 13626/2382, total 16,008. Strong consistency, only 700 below v1wk1.

I think it's because single episodic (in this case movies) sell more than what is $60-$90 for 3 in general and incomplete?

People are less likely to commit to an Anime season, than an Anime movie.

The movie is a oneshot $90-something that is complete on it's own, while for Railgun S it's more like $90 x 8 vols = $720.

$90 seems a lot for a BD... just saying... especially because I feel like some parts of Railgun S are better than others... Well anyway the first release is 1-2-3 and the second release is 4-5-6, the third will be 7-8-9 and the fourth 10-11-12 if the fifth 13-14-15 (and maybe 16) doesn't sell a ton I'll be annoyed.

That one really should be bought in excess. I'm wondering if people are waiting for that one specifically?

Japanese BD prices are criminal. They are milking the fans like crazy.

thats not what i mean by disappointment. i mean im unsatisfied with railgun S sales since it even sales less then index 2 which i find to be a terrible adaption until the vento arc "kinda". i know how movies sales works don't have too remind me about that but what i meant is i expected railgun S to sell a bit more but im gonna assume people are gonna buy the full set and wait so i might be in for a surprise.

It's not particularly common to just buy certain volumes on their own unless they contain external bonuses or an exclusive episode (and even then, the gain is usually minimal). I wouldn't expect volume 5 to see particularly higher sales than any other volume, to be honest -- if you decide you're going to collect the show, you're generally going to collect the whole thing (unless for whatever reason you give up part way).

It's not something that the average fan is going to want to buy; they're designed for collectors. For the everyday fan, you could always rent the DVDs, or just buy the manga or other merchandise. It's just a different way of looking at things.

This could be one of the factors. All the previous seasons have gotten boxsets, so by now some people could be trained to just wait a few years if they're not so desperate. And actually all the boxsets have sold relatively well considering the shows were originally all sold on Blu-Ray. So I do think this could be a factor for some people.

Boxsets -are- much cheaper than buying each individual volume, right? In terms of value.

That's true, but they're usually released long after the initial singles. If fans are waiting for a set, it probably means that the series isn't a high priority for them.

In this case, I think franchise momentum may be a significant factor.

Still wondering why they added the picture of poor Uiharu throwing a chibi's tantrum after another skirt-lifting moment at the bottom corner.

There are many-many little screenshots from the anime, not sure if they are always related to the topicXD
