So Hoenheim is a true immortal or something. And damn Trisha knew she was getting into that bullsh17 too, kinda f***ed up how they just left the kids completely in the dark about it. Guess they find out the fun way.

Well, its hard to fit his dream with whats going on. I'm not sure how the manga did it, but it wouldn't have been weird to switch from one person's dream to the real world. And it didn't seem like there was enough to warrant a full episode for it.

Just to be clear all the crazy Hohenheim dream stuff was not in the manga. That was made up by the anime team for this episode.

The only thing is Hohenheim did know Pinako when she was young (and she did look like that). We see images of young Pinako (although not full flashbacks) twice in the manga.

Ah.. then I stand corrected. I thought they were being faithful to the manga, but I guess they needed to fill in an episode with a recap.

I figured it was in the manga since it seemed to be important concerning Hohenheim's character.

At the end of the day, FMA is still a long running show. As the animators don't need to animate new episode, they can spend their effort on the opening. It's about time that they made a recap episode, usually I would complain about it. This time they made a really good recap episode, I liked how they did the recap in a different order. I don't think I have seen better recap episodes before.

You're either thinking of Basque Gran or Maes Hughes, both of whom had the rank of Brigadier General (with Hughes getting the rank posthumously).

Well, they cut out some conversations hohenheim had with Pinako while Ed was visiting the Xerxes ruins. We saw a picture pinako had of a young version of herself and Hohenheim drinking together from 40 years earlier, with hohenheim looking the same in the photo as he does in the present.

There are one or two other scenes of hohenheim traveling that should have been shown already in brotherhood, but haven't, either because they were cut or because they chose to move them around a bit. I can't see them being cut, though.

Finally watched it with subs and I must say, it's much better than I initially thought. In fact, it's a damn good recap episode. Nonetheless, it's still pretty pointless. But I guess Bones have their own reasons to do this, and whatever reason that is, they did a good job on this ep. At least it didn't do any harm to the story plot or character development (I don't think Hohenheim was out of character here). Of course, it didn't contribute much either.

Also, with the lyrics translated, I think the OP song fits perfectly with the OP sequence and with this series too. Makes me love this OP even more!

Was I watching FMA, or Evangelion? Other than that, an ok episode. I was expecting a flashback with a little of how Hoenheim met Trisha and a look into his character, and I guess what we got did give us a look at his character.

I give this episode a rating of: Curse you BONES for making me wait another week to see the next episode.
