Since you loved Clannad and Angel Beats, you might also like the other anime versions of Key's work.....AIR(tv) and Kanon(2006). I think those are the ones that Kyoto Animation did(the studio responsible for K-ON, Haruhi, Clannad, and Lucky Star).
Since you are a Lucky Star fan, you should check out Azumanga Daioh. It is also a slice-of-life high school comedy and you should be able to see how Daioh influenced Lucky Star. I also recommend that you try Full Metal Panic. Since you liked Code Geass, you wouldn't mind the mecha in it. It also has its moments of school comedy and the interplay between Sousuke and Kaname is always hilarious(Fumoffu has lots of this as its basically a comedy). And it has one of my favorite moe characters ever(Tessa Testarossa). Last edited by AbZeroNow; 2011-05-28 at 18:15. Reason: spelling |

Well your tastes seem somewhat like mine ...
So for something like Lucky Star/K-ON, I'd recommend some of the following: A Channel - it's very much like K-On without the Band... but with more inserts songs? Seitokai no Ichizon - while it somewhat of a harem, the humor that is present in it and Lucky Star is very similar. Nichijou - new comedy by the same makers it's been pretty good so far. In terms of strangeness and a male lead dealing with characters who aren't what they seem with plenty of comedy like Haruhi Suzumiya has I would suggest Bakemonogatari , though it does have a different art and general style to it that turns some people off. Plus Araragi likes his witty sarcastic comments almost as much as Kyon does . For something like Clannad[and to lesser extend Angel Beats], I'd highly second the other two Key/Kyoto Animation series, Air T.V. and Kanon 2006, and I'd also recommend Toradora it's a great romance/comedy. And of course Death Note only thing that ever felt similar to Code Geass for me in terms of level of suspense in a series.

Ok let's see:
Clannad = AnoHana (ongoing), Chobits, Suzuka, Spice and Wolf Angel Beats = Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? K-ON = Working!! Code Geass = Death Note, Full Metal Panic Those shows might not be that great but I think that they give a bit of similar feeling Romance/drama vice I could also add Romeo + Juliet Romance/comedy vice I recommend Love Hina Mai HiME would be good series romance and action vice. Also Otome Youkai Zakuro wouldn't be a bad choice. Have you watched FMA? Slightly different... how about Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom? Also you can try Great Teacher Onizuka, it is not romance nor action show but it has an interesting story and entertaining characters. That's all I can recommend for now based on the list you gave.

I second these...
A Channel AnoHana Bakemonogatari Chobits Death Note Hanasaku Iroha Kaichou wa Maid-sama! Nichijou Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi Toradora Welcome to the NHK Working!! I think Death Note and Bakemonogatari are a bit more serious then the others on this list but the are still really good. Welcome to the NHK has the coolest feel to it, its hard to describe but its defiantly worth the time. If I were to suggest another series I'd have to say Durarara, its a lot more serious then some of the series listed above but its really unique. |
