Plot Synopsis

Traumatized by a childhood incident with a friend who took exception to his love of traditional dolls, doll-artisan hopeful Wakana Gojou passes his days as a loner, finding solace in the home ec room at his high school. To Wakana, people like beautiful Marin Kitagawa, a trendy girl who's always surrounded by a throng of friends, is practically an alien from another world. But when cheerful Marin—never one to be shy—spots Wakana sewing away one day after school, she barges in with the aim of roping her quiet classmante into her secret hobby: cosplay! Will Wakana's wounded heart be able to handle the invasion from this sexy alien?!

It's not easy when you have a passion that other people look down on or don't understand, let alone that they think you're weird for being into, like poor Gojo-kun had to deal with as a child when his childhood friend rejected him for being a boy who was passionate about making outfits for girls dolls .

The Opening is utterly perfect! Showing off Gojo and Marin's daily lives, Marin being Marin, their attempts to make cosplay together, and Marin in as many outfits as they can possibly fit in. All set to a very catchy and fun theme .

Poor Gojo-kun has no friends...he's either mistaken for somebody else's friends, just left alone, or taken advantage of. And he feels like the one thing he's into is so niche that he just can't talk to anyone about it or join in on their conversations. It makes high school life pretty unfulfilling .

And then a literal angel crashes headfirst into his desk and he's greeted by Marin Kitawaga, a stunningly beautiful girl who is attractive as she is sweet and passionate, and she understands that people like what they like and should be accepted for and embraced for it. And she should know, being a pretty hardcore Otaku herself, to the point where she cuts down a guy trying to pick her up who casually insults the dolls on her bag or when she's writing on the blackboard trying to explain to her friends what the heck the series she's into is about .

Gojo is so desperate to feel useful to the class and feel part of the group that he takes on work for others, even if it means being taken advantage of. And Marin pointedly tells him how that's not really living .

And then comes the fateful moment when Marin walks in on Gojo using the school sewing machine to make clothes for a doll...and what is set off by Shojo roses and Marin seemingly being creeped out/getting turned on turns into Marin being super happy to find out Gojo knows how to sew .

Then Marin starts stripping and it turns out she's actually into cosplay because she wants to dress up as her favorite characters and show off how much she loves them by becoming them. The only problem is she doesn't really know how to make clothes properly, so she can barely capture the outfit/character she's trying to portray, but that's where Gojo comes in .

I know Gojo dressed her down for her poor workmanship, but for an amateur cosplay outfit I'd say Marin still looked pretty great in it, especially with that exposed cleavage and short hem that flashed her panties .

Gojo's reaction to the super-long and intricate title of the work Marin's character is from was utterly priceless .

The Ending is super cute with cartoony versions of Marin and Gojo dancing in space .

OK, good sdtart for now. Fankfully, CloverWorks to not seemn to mess this up for now. Seiyuus were prtetty good also. So let's see how it goes. I hope they finish with that 3-was cosplay arc and won't try to cram more in one season.

This was a really nice first episode. Was wondering how many shows this season would really pull me in. But this one definitely did. Both Gojo and Marin are pretty likable characters and can see some good moments unfolding in the future with them. An opportunity for both and definitely a chance for Gojo to open up more with others.

I can understand the trauma though. Almost completely sure that girl was jealous of how much better Gojo was than her and decided to insult him to vent. Doing a lot of harm to his mindset going forward and turning him into the guy we see now.

But thankfully when he is comfortable and in his element then things can really get going. His breakdown of Marin's outfit was hilarious.

Do they? The series and films they are credited as the main production house do quite well. Outside of The Promised Neverland, it's their "work assistance" and "animation work" series that have a more mixed reaction.

Some of the things in the first episode had some obvious rotoscope traits to them, but this was an incredibly strong start to a series.

Yeah, but it feels like they're gaining a reputation for flawed/rushed adaption and production issues, so hopefully this turns out okay...

I thought the girl was gonna be a living doll or something, but it turns out to be one of those "Protagonist is a loner with a special hobby, and meets a girl who totally resonates with him" stories.
I think it was a good enough start, though nothing special to write home about.

I personally think that being so tall and handsome, they should have used a "People tried to talk to him but he creeped them out" instead of "No one interacts with him because!"

...Also, I think they could have put a bit more effort in her "initial meeting" with him.
Not only is it unnatural for her to fly like that, but if you somehow were sent flying in that manner and hit the back of your head... You really shouldn't be worrying about the guy at the desk.

Impressed by the production value of that first ep. Seems high-budget. If it keeps this consistently it's definitely on my to-watch list.

The fanservice hints seems to point to a shounen source, but with heavy shoujo vibes, or is it the other way around?

I was surprised Gojo-kun made no effort to block her fall. He could have arranged for her to fall into his arms, but that's not who he is.

The hearts in the ED have Playstation symbols on them (square, circle, triangle, X). Will they end up playing romantic video games together?

Probably the most fun show among those I've watched so far. I've added it to the list along with Slow Loop. Just hope it doesn't turn into a will-they-won't-they-fall-in-love story stretching over the next twelve weeks.

Did he have the time to? The impression that I got from that scene was that it happened too quickly and he was too shocked by the sight of her flying towards his desk to react.

This reminds me a bit of Horimiya. Guy with an eccentric hobby gets found out by a very charming, accepting, and outgoing girl. I think I'm going to like Marin more than Hori though.

I more or less knew how the episode would play out based on the premise and the PVs, but I didn't see that ending coming. Never thought the character she wants to cosplay is from a porn game

The show looks very nice and has good fanservice. Is it just me or is Marin's skirt so short you could see a bit of her ass as she was walking back to her friends after the desk incident? Where's the moral committee character to measure skirt length when you need her?
