Episode 7:

It must be immensely gratifying for Tadano to see Komi wear the dress he got her .

Najimi invites Agari (how very nice of them) and Yamai invites her friends who, while also Komi obsessed, are a fair bit more normal than Yamai (including knight girl and ninja boy), but the more the merrier .

I can appreciate that Yamai saw the appeal in Komi wearing a school swimsuit from middleschool but not wanting anyone else to see it...of course she also wanted to watch Komi undress, but I guess Yamai is a double-edged sword .

Pool episode! Which means girls in swimsuits! And I agree with the guys' reactions, especially Komi .

Tadano unlocked a fetish for Komi's hair in his face which...is honestly not a bad fetish to have .

Komi gets injured from running but is worried she ruined everyone's fun...but they just shoot water at each other in the shallow side after making sure to file the spot where Komi tripped. It was a great day all around .

Pretty sweet father-daughter excursion with Komi and her dad, and while they're two people of few words, they can understand each other well enough and communicate when they need to. And they obviously love and care for each other very much .

Poor Komi being anxious at the library...but she did manage to quite a crying kid that was initially freaked out by her. And of course Tadano is there to witness it, as well as Komi just fooling around on a playground. He never returned those books, but he got to see some great Komi moments .

Oh, no doubt Tadano's was the best choice. I can appreciate a few minutes of Komi eye candy though .

Nakanaka continues to be the most normal character in the show despite being a massive chunni.

Well it's nice that Hitomi got to meet the person that tried to murder her brother (feel free to poison her drink or something) .

Lot of cute little sequences. Was good fun seeing the Komi family gathering. That family really only goes to one of two extremes. Super chatty or super quiet. Grandma grilling Komi over her love life was fun. Same goes for the festival sequence. Just a number of nice little scenes. Including Komi spending most of the evening trying to compliment Tadano .

Episode 8:

I love how we get to see how a car ride in the Komi family works with Komi's mom handling all the mundane conversation while the other Komi's just react silently .

Komi's prayer to her ancestors was so quiet the grave isn't sure she said anything .

Seems like the Komi men are mutually stoic and quiet while their wives are equally exciteable and energetic, while the Komi matriarch is fairly stern and cool, but it was also nice to see Komi get along with her cousin instead of continuing to scare her away .

It was also nice to see Komi get some good one-on-one time with her grandmother (better than her dad did, at any rate) and that her grandmother is aware of the guy in her life .

Komi in a yukata! We got to see other girls in yukata's, but Komi definitely stole the show. And she made a striking pair with Tadano .

Nakanak and Yadano try their best...and it's hilarious .

Komi just causally winning a PS5 for Najimi, lucky .

Oh hey, Tadano's little sister! Voiced by Maaya Uchida! Awesome .

I quite like this series. It isn't as funny, focused or genuine as Non Non Biyori or Full Metal Panic, but the ensemble cast isn't bad and there's enough of them to keep things fresh. For comedy gimick-characters, they're all exceptionally humanised. Komi herself is the best thing about the show, with some very sweet and sympathetic moments. Her struggles to communicate have some shades of A Silent Voice without all the angst, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Above else, the biggest problem of this anime is that 90& of this plot revolves around how amazingly cute Komi-san is... except she isn't. I guess maybe when your standard guy is this thing with the smallest pupils and a flower in his hair, maybe she is extremely cute to the characters of this show, but unfortunately for it, I'm not part of that twisted world.

Also problems involve the whole "We got a bunch of one-dimensional freaks" thing, which isn't really that funny and involves facial distortions way too often, which is topped by a whole "This school is full of freaks!" that isn't needed, because you don't need to give a poor excuse to why so many characters are "weird"

But hey, the quality of the animation is great. Too bad this is a school-life comedy thing, so it is completely wasted!
Also, it doesn't help that the first impression this anime gives is "If we throw a bunch of money into it, it is definitely gonna be good". A lazy adaption that really (and probably) copied the manga by plastering words on the screen.
Which, if you take a second to think, works great in a manga... and horrible in an anime.
But they did it.
Because money first, thinking second.

If you ignore the fact Komi-san isn't really that pretty and can enjoy "weird and funny" characters (half are "weird face and that is funny"), then combined with the good production quality, is an okay watch.

Episode 9:


Inaka! The country girl who just wants to come off like a city gal! And she can barely wear her skirt above the knees .

I love when Najimi gives Komi a hopelessly convoluted order and Komi tries in vain to get it. And that scene at the Starbucks with Inaka being so impressed was hilarious .

Nakanaka managed to invite Komi to her house! And it works! She also has a pretty sweet gamer setup and anime posters, and while Komi's not a gamer, she still thinks it's pretty neat .

A Smash Bros. parody with two muscly guys in school swimsuits is...something. Meanwhile Najimi and Nakanaka are dueling while Tadano is just trying to teach Komi how to play and making sure she doesn't die .

I guess I'm not surprised that Najimi would saddle Komi with her own job, but after a rocky start Komi managed to navigate it well...and Yamai turns up out of nowhere to help form a line, and Tadano was, of course, there the whole time .

That woman really needed some tissues .

Komi's worst nightmare .not being able to communicate something to someone and thinking she'll be a screw-up if she can't, and then seemingly everyone has something on their face .

Ah, Komi wants Tadano to call her by her first name! No surprise it's hard for them both to jump to the first name basis this early in their relationship, but the interest is there .

Episode 10:

Sports day! Which means more of Komi in her gym clothes and showing off those legs and ponytail .

The double-edged sword of Komi idolization to where it wins them the first round but loses them the second .

Netsuno! I have to admit, reading the manga, I always envisioned her having flaming hair, but her fiery spirit and gutsy expectations for others came off well .

Tadano shifting into high gear when Komi manages to get out how she's rooting for him .

I love how Shuko shows up and everyone's like "Komi that can talk!?" and she's embarrassing Komi in front of her friends and Komi's trying to push her out...but she's just happy that her daughter has found a nice group of friends .

Komi races against Netsuno but falls, though her classmates rooting for her is enough for her to get back up and compete, and while she didn't beat Netsuno she won her respect .

It was nice to see Onemine and someone who can see how much work everyone piles on Tadano to the point of bullying, even the teacher who just makes him do work while she just plays games in the teacher's lounge, and go out of her way to help him. She can even boss Najimi around! I also like how she also tried to put it more politely than just saying Tadano was "average" .

Of course Komi is a little jealous of Tadano spending time with another girl, but Tadano is able to set Onemine straight on Komi and Onemine turns out to be a pretty solid wingwoman too once she gets a proper read on Tadano and Komi's relationship .

Nothing says friendship like taking a purikura together! And Komi's good looks are too much for the photo filters, and she can't change her expression in the pictures, but they turn out pretty great anyways .

Komi and Tadano getting and exchanging bag straps was so adorable .

A lesson learned by Netsuno here. Komi may look cool but she does care. And she fires up everyone around her by an insane amount. So can't say she holds anyone back in that respect. Although the cult following around her is usually a pretty uncomfortable thing.

The power of love (or something) managed to score a third place finish. Not bad since they were probably in last when Tadano got out there for the relay.

Sure Shuko...they are all nice kids. If we ignore girl likely to become a serial killer and the classmates that were thinking horrible things about Tadano most of the time...There are nice people in that class. And cultist obsession can be seen as being nice so her misunderstanding isn't inappropriate.

Then the show goes after this segment to covering Tadano being bullied by the teachers and the student population . Though it was a nice chance to push that Tadano and Komi relationship a bit. Onemine is a pretty sweet person. Cared about something that looked pretty bad happening and tried to lend a hand. Even concerned when it came to Komi since from an outside point of view it's not impossible to see her as a primary culprit in the bullying. But glad she got to see the reality and gently stepped back to help support them.

That overjoyed reaction at the end from Komi . So happy to get a present from Tadano that she pushed for a trade. And then...overjoyed rolling on her bed afterwards .

just watched it all today, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, the manga has been really bad lately but this first season remind me why I liked it in the beginning.

It made fall in love with tadanoxkomi ship all over again.

Episode 11:

It's time to come up with what the class is going to do for the culture festival, but they're more worked up about what Komi is going to do than the class itself .

Oh hey, that's probably the most dialogue Kensho Ono's ninja character has gotten in the entire series .

I love how Inaka suggests a disco (whose ever done that at a culture festival) and Makeru just wants to compete and even has a fan club .

Onemine, of course, is the only one who comes up with a normal suggestion that doesn't involve Komi...but Komi suggests the Maid Cafe and then everyone jumps into it .

Najimi saddling Komi with advertising the culture festival, but it was nice to see some old faces. Even the baby, who henceforth dubs Komi as "Kokko" .

Meet Otori! The space cadet! She seems kind of out of it at times and you need to keep a close watch on her or else she'll disappear on you, but her heart is in the right place. She, Komi, and Onemine made a nice trio. Also, keep her away from chainsaws .

Komi really does look stunning in that maid outfit (clean pictures, Yamai) .

So we've got a maid connoisseur who is really just a maid otaku at the end of the day, but he appreciates the effort made by the class and how they embody all the right archetypes...although he mistakes Komi's awkwardness for pure revulsion and heads off .

Poor Tadano...looks good in drag, let alone as a maid, and gets seen by both Komi's mom and his sister who takes a picture and sends it to their mom which seems to confirm something he probably does not want to know about .

Why am I not surprised the girls are gaga over Komi's brother ?

Everyone is gaga over maid Komi! Although honestly all the girls look great as maid, and Najimi is maximizing it for peak profits...have Yadano compete as a maid! Take a picture with Nakanaka! Let Agari be a klutzy maid! Have Yamai slap you for daring to get close to Komi! It's actually a brilliant marketing plan! It's a good thing the teacher stepped in before Agari started going mad with power and started letting people pay to touch thighs though .

I love how Komi is freaked out about the most mundane things in the haunted house and poor Odoka is too intimidated by Komi to try to scare her...and then when she finally works up the nerve Komi just ups and leaves .

Rooftop confessions seem like a big gamble, especially when the first guy we see doing them gets rejected in a split-second and it gets heavily publicized and everything...although Yamai's confession to Komi went over pretty well with everyone other than Komi, who just stares blankly at it, not that it effected Yamai at all .

Komi making cat-noises instead of what she actually wanted to say is very on-brand for Komi, and Neko-Maid Komi is super effective .

Onemine playing nice wingwoman! And a nice montage of everyone having fun and playing games, with a Bunny Girl, Yadano chasing after Komi, Netsuno, and where's Otori ?

The class won for the maid cafe! Or they would have if not for Najimi's illicit money racket, and Najimi then has the gall to say it was all about the experiences they had as a class...but at least Komi got to have fun and Najimi got punished from the medidation club .

I love how Tadano's been in the maid outfit the whole time and then he and Komi try to dance together, but Najimi jumps in right when they start holding hands, but it turns into a nice moment for the trio .

Poor Komi is hyperventilating over singing while everyone else gets through their song during the class karaoke party. I feel Nakanaka with that reaction to her singing an anime song .

I love how Komi's song was the Ending and she can't bring herself to sing but the Komi fanclub just assumes, with their pure hearts, that they're the only ones who can actually hear her .

"Beef of Chicken?" Is that supposed to be a play on Bump of Chicken? I know Gakuto Kujiwara can sing, so that was a nice moment, especially with Komi being the only one focused and actually cheering for Tadano .

And we close out with the trio and the Opening spotlighting the cast and Komi's experiences this season, and ending on all the friends she made this season .

Was alright with the funny characters all trying to help/befriend Komi, and watching her fail average tasks like getting coffee. I guess it brings attention to the fact that people are shy and how it's easy to mistake that for disdain, as was an ever recurring thing with Komi and most people she encountered.
