Now if only it wasn't an isekai story; like it wouldn't change a thing if Ernest was just a robot prodigy. But I guess you can't win everything..
I'm just going to trust on Yokote on this one. Pretty proven track record since everyone knows her as Shirobako writer, but while she isn't on the level of Okada, she's more often than not writing the childhood friend stories in a good light. This won't be her series of the year (this fall's Children of the Whales looks mesmerizing), but at least for me it's guaranteed to be entertaining.
The same here, the anime have potential, you can change that and would be the same, seems you need that otaku hook.

So fast...it almost felt like I watched two episodes.

It felt like I got dumped into the middle of the story. Eru is cute though but I can't take his appearance seriously. He looks like a girl. Action wise, it was okay I guess? I just hope they slow the pacing down a bit.

Well that was alright. It was a bit rushed, but can understand wanting to end the episode at a certain point.

Not feeling a big pull so far and not really caring about the MC at this point. But let's see how this goes.

It did enough to keep me wanting to see more. None of the cast is annoying so far. I like the mech designs enough. Animation isn't bad. I do like the magic aspect even tho I told myself I wouldn't like it haha that magic gun was kind of cool

I rather liked. Wonder if it's too early to start shipping...

The productions values were pretty decent and Iike the concept of mechs in a meadevil like setting, but rest of episode wasn't doing anything for me. It seems like a very bog standard tensei-isekai story that's hitting all the early tropes except for the harem at the moment. I'll give 2 more episodes for my feelings to change.

It was all pretty exciting. Sword and sorcery and mechs. Nice looking mechs, at that. The reincarnation and child prodigy aspects I'll ignore for now.

I'm wondering why they turned the gunblade (in both the LN and manga) into just a gun...?
The episode even talks about mixing the benefits of the two, and then we're shown a musket without any sword-like properties.

Intial thoughts.

First episode was a bit rushed, but I feel the writer trying to get to the mech fights sooner rather than latter. As long as this doesn't become a habit, it shouldn't be a problum.

Main Character is OP. I've got a bad feeling he will be "I can do everything and never fail" man... which is a issue.

The mech fights are pretty good through, as is the thought into how they work.

Currently going with the three episode rule. Hopefully the MC won't hog the spotlight and be perfect in everything... and the mechs will be the real stars.

wow for manga-reader, I think they just rushed 10 chapters in 1 episode.. my brain just exploded
with that great CG, they should have decent budget to make it better
seriously... this is disappointing for me.. probably one of the worst adaptation I ever watched so far

putting that aside, they pictured the "weirdness" of Ernesti pretty well... all personalities are captured in exact same way as I predicted... like how Addy always cuddle Ernesti for example
another complain is probably... I don't know about the LN but I never see Addy with short hair like in anime.. I think when Ernesti met them for first time, Addy is already adorable with her long hair.. not with tomboyish vibe

They did some different things than manga like Ernest's first encounter with Silhouette Knight.. but in anime, they did it better

seriously... if only they made this into 2 episode instead

They most likely wanted to skip the world-building and such, since some people here claimed to be kinda boring.

I'm Anime-only Viewer, so I don't know more than that.

Actually if you look carefully you can see the blade in it. Seems like a retractable blade.

The protagonist comes across as something of a Gary Stu and the pacing was pretty rushed (I'm actually wondering if the rushed pacing may have contributed to my impression that the protagonist was a Gary Stu) but overall I found a lot to like about this series despite that. I particularly appreciated that the blonde step sister was actually pretty nice rather than being an annoyingly haughty antagonist as her status and character design might lead one to expect.

Can't help but to think how much better this story would be if the initial real-world bit was completely ditched, because I can just about guess what the writer was thinking: "This'll make the character more relatable." Bullshit.

I can understand what a genius is without seeing him do something intellectual in the modern world.

What would be so strange about being a mecha otaku, in a world that has actual mechas running around?

Is reincarnation some kind of central plot point? Of course it isn't.

I feel like I was forced to swallow a really big and bitter blue pill in the very beginning, and that's no good. Pity, because other than that, the show seems to have plenty of merits.

They also have 'recoil' animations after certain magical attacks (for some insane reason).

The 'blades' are present later on at any rate.

That was... rushed as fuck. And I haven't touched the source material.

However it's interesting enough for me.

Um sorry but what? Character being more relatable? His reincarnation from a proficient progammer and mecha otaku is basically his whole reason for being OP in the new world; with magic being basically programming and many inspirations he can take to improve or build SKs.

In another thing, I didn't like the first episode. It's rushing too much, also the first scene for the new world was pretty shitty and I didn't like the narration thingy. It should have been from Eru's perspektive, being bored, visiting father's workplace, seeing a duel between SKs and starting training, show how his reinforcement spell drains him early and how he improves by always having it on, etc. Oh, and the meeting the twins, the slight change for the anime seems senseless in my eyes. Also no reason why the hell some things are shifted to after school starts, like meeting Batson. Another thing is, how the hell didn't they encounter the twins' sister in three fucking years in the same school (she surely would have seeked them out atleast).

The only good thing in the anime was the dropping of Steph's sibling antagonizing the twins.

Holy rushed material Batman!, this was a whiplash of an episode, the characters are certainly going to be the ones that suffer the most. Without seeing how Eru and his friends got to the point they are they are mostly going to come off as some of the most generic Stus around, not that they normally aren't, but more so than if you had seen part of how they became that strong.

I personally hate overpowered messiah like "chosen one" (yes, I notice the irony in my saying this) MCs so I am definitely not a fan of Eru, I also dislike trap characters so that's two strikes against our protagonist. So literally the only reason I am watching this is because of Mechas and Knights two of my favorite things ever being together in one place, nothing more, nothing less.

Also, let's just say that if you didn't like Gundam SEED logic then get ready.

they skipped alot of school stuff to rush into the action in the first episode to get watchers hooked, my guess is theyll still show the other stuff after this arc, though i hope they skip the twins "brother" bit, so much other stuff to focus on
