i presume it is Asuma because of the following clues...

Ochimaru calles 3rd hokage Sarutobi-sensei. And Asumas second name is Sarutobi. From ancient chinese tradition a sensei calls someone by their last name followed by sensei. If this is true though why is it kakashi-sensei when kakashi is not a last name. Perhaps orichamuru says last name first because it was an old tradition and he was a pupil many years ago. Or perhaps sarutobi is the 3rds first name. But dont you think its weird that we hear of konohamuru but never his father or mother. BUT why is asuma not near konohamuru or appear to be sad enough. They did seem to be standing in some kind of order though, as in jounin to chuunin etc

anyone got any more clues or disagree with me

i dont think ausma is the son of the 3rd honkage.
its impossible for him to be konohamaur's father, and 3rd honkage's son.

I disagree, since everything leads us to believe Sarutobi is the Sandaime's (3rd Hokage) first name. The best example I'd give is Enma calling him Sarutobi, and the Shodaime (1st Hokage) and Nidaime (2nd Hokage) calling him by the nickname Monkey (Saru). Enma has a very close relationship to the 3rd, they've known each other for some time, I'd say. I don't think Enma would call him by his last name; since they were, above all, friends. The same with the 1st and the 2nd.

Sarutobi is Asuma's last name. So there's no connection between he and the Sandaime, at least I don't think so and there's nothing that leads us to believe that. And like you said, Asuma wasn't even near Konohamaru in the 3rd's funeral. Even though he wasn't his father, if Asuma was a relative of Konohamaru he would try to cheer him up.

But this is no new theory, after all

ever think that konohamura has a brother, ever think that kakashi has a mother, there are so many questions to answer that what makes any anime good. Look at Evangelion its good because there is so many levels that ask lots of questions.

Everyone in the Leaf clan, and I mean EVERYONE, in the series has inherited powers from their fathers.

Shikamaru uses shadows like his pops. Ino has the mind-body switch. Choji has the meat tank, Sasuke the Sharingan, Neji the Byakugan, etc, etc.

Not all of the kids who display their parents powers are bloodline abilities. (Or maybe they are, they've never been explained that way, AFAIK.)

So then...why does Asuma know/use NONE of the 3rd's jutsus? Asuma's a taijutsu/weapon user. If he's the 3rd son, he's sure keeping it silent for a long-ass time, and nobody's mentioning their condolences about his dad either.

Plus, he then deserts him to go and rescue his student (Shikamaru). Not very nice to his pops if that's indeed the case.

Yup, I agree, with Asuma not being the 3rd's son. They just don't act all father/son like. Maybe the name is just a coincidence?

He would be a strong shinobi if he was the son of the 3rd i mean the 3rd training him So he would have been legendary.

Konohamura is the grand son to the 3rd, but the 3rd's DAUGHTER could be they way he links to him....I don't think it has been stated anywhere that Konohamura's dad was the 3rd?

Well. seeing how this topic has been discussed a couple of times. And I talked about the theory on the 12th. I would have to still agree with my post from earlier that the names are the same, Konohamaru's dad hasn't been exposed. They look alike. And usually in anime its easy to see who is related to who.

I got the theory from narutofan and since they switched their server they took the information off of the site. due to them having to revamp their site. Well thats my opinion. It's possible but not proven.

how is this imposible.......considering that Konohamaur is the 3rds grandson, then y is it not possible for him to be Kononhamaurs Father and the 3rds son?
