Once again, another good episode of Musaigen! Human Ruru was just too much. Wanting to do what humans can do in their size, but still forgetting that she isn't that tiny little phantom fairy that she was before the transformation. Also, kinda wished that she hadn't changed her haristyle from when she first changed into a human thanks to the Witch Phantom girl. It was a little bit too wild for me.
Everyone looked good in their yukatas for the fireworks festival! Especially Mai! I will 100% agree on that hair style she had! So far, I have seen Mai favored her water specialty more than any of her other elemental buffs that she has. I guess it's all due to the conditions of the phantom battle that makes her choose water more often than the other elements. I like how Mai was denying Koito's and Reina's powers due to it provoking the firework phantom to explode or give bad indigestion. hahaha! In the end, it was only Ruru that could stop the phantom. Sometimes its not about how big or better you are. It's just how the way you are now that can make a difference in any situation! Spoiler for Witch Phantom:
Next week's episode seems to be centered around Haruhiko...or maybe not? We have yet to have an episode dedicated to the guy! |

About this episode, its f**king nothing!
Another mediocre episode focused on Haru and Mai doing the onee-san job, nothing remarkable or interesting so far. 11 episodes, nothing about the plot or an actual story, zero development or at least something related to Phantoms. Now let's see how this garbage ends. |

I'm going to guess that whatever weird phenomena manifested itself in the playground before the Sandbox Phantom's appearance and then interrupted Mai's incantation will actually be a relevant plot point along with the device... in the one or two episodes that we have left.
(Or not; this wasn't the first time that a power-up sequence was interrupted by the Phantom of the Week in order for the story to work.) Last edited by Gravitas Free Zone; 2016-03-16 at 12:59. |

Ok, at the very least this was probably the funniest episode the show has given in a while. Just something purely hilarious about Haruhiko driving Mai up the wall. Just utterly making her go nuts with his attitude as a child.
In terms of the episodes we've gotten it wasn't bad. I'd at least prefer episodes like this than the goofy monkey episode. At least there was a plot to this one and some nice development for Mai as a whole. Got to know Haruhiko a great deal better along with how he handled his background as a kid. Though not sure about Mai going down like she did. Are they arguing that even babysitting takes a horrifying physical toll? Sure that kind of thing can be tough, but that seemed a bit extreme. Maybe it is plot related and Mai does have something actually wrong with her...but maybe not.

Lol they really did make Haru into a little kid. The class likes it though by their reactions.
And Mai got a decent amount of screen time with him. But with two episodes left, I wonder what else this show's got?

My favorite episode by far, Kyo Ani definitely brought their A game to it. Very character driven and the interplay between Mai and young Haruhiko was it main strength. It was very warm and earnest. Haruhiko might been a snotty brat, but what he really wanted was to someone to pay attention to him and Mai understood him well.
Mai really excelled at the role of a big sister, maybe it's one of her elements? Seriously though, Mai showed off her good points here, and she's a really amazing girl. If Haruhiko lets her slip through his finger he's way dumber than he seems. Very cute and with some great character stuff, this episode was the best we got yet. Keep it up Kyo Ani! |

There was nothing happy about this episode. It felt like that letter overturned every single happy moment of the show. Well, it's not like I've lost my parents at an early age. It's more like that gut punch when you realized that he had to write an outright lie for the essay despite the fact that the teachers know about Haruhiko's family background.
Mai's moments with Kid Haruhiko were definitely heartwarming and she's just as perfect in that yellow dress as in her more sporty attire. Ironically, it helped her deal with the feeling of solitude due to a lack of exposure to family more than Haruhiko. Now what is with Mai's brief flinch? Will the next episode trailer tease us about this?

All aboard the Mai x Haruhiko ship. The episode was really nice with the character development and Mai's scenes with kid Haruhiko were cute. The essay at the end and Mai's reaction to it turned everything. Mai pulled the older sister figure off well.

This was honestly the best episode imo. Haruhiko was sort of stuck up as a kid, but it's easy to understand why he was like that. Mai's moments with him heartwarming and showed her really earn that big sister status.
If Haruhiko was smart, he would pursue Mai and wouldn't let her slip away.

True enough that while Mai is hardly perfect...darn it if she isn't someone that Haruhiko would be a fool to lose. Not that Mai needed it, but this just further strengthens her feelings about Haruhiko. Kind of evening things out as he did outright talk about his background to Reina when they nearly lost her earlier in the show.
Of course logically this shouldn't have been such a strain on Mai. Just stay at Haruhiko's place while he's stuck like this. Clearly his father is providing him enough income so it would make things a bit easier on Mai financially rather than putting her in an even tighter spot. Not thinking of that the first night isn't wrong, but not realizing it for the days(?) that he was like that is a bit silly. But emotionally the episode worked. Some emotional punches thrown with Mai getting to know the young Haruhiko. That was plenty but then reading his essay...dang.
