They always announce people super late, this year seems to be no exception. They always start with dub guests too, which I personally have little to no interest in. I'm more thinking about general costs atm.

Anime Expo to Stay in Los Angeles for 5 More Years:
"The Los Angeles Convention Center announced on Tuesday that it will host Anime Expo for the next five years (through 2019). The partnership was solidified through an agreement between the manager of the convention center, AEG Facilities, and The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, which organizes Anime Expo. The 24th Anime Expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 2-5. The convention is considered the largest anime convention in North America and is projected to reach record attendance numbers this year with an expected 100,000 unique attendees." I've decided to sit Anime Expo out this time. The line-up this year just doesn't look that impressive. There are a few panels that I'd like to see but none that would justify flying across the country and spending $1000+ on a hotel room.
I think I've reached that point where cons just don't hold the same allure they once did

Anime Expo: New Record Set With 90,500 Unique Attendees:
"Anime Expo's official website reported on Monday that it had more than 90,500 unique attendees at this year's event, up 12% from 2014 and setting a new attendance record for the convention. In addition, it reported a turnstile attendance of 260,700, up 18% from 2014." See: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/dail...tendees/.90700 I guess they didn't reach the 100,000 mark this year after all. Oh well, there's always 2016. |

I'm headed there this year as well.
Actually, this is going to be my first con. Any recommendations as to when I should arrive? I'm going on a middle day, but I heard the lines to pick up the badges are atrocious. If the con opens at 10am, what's the best time to line up for the badges? |

Every year, Anime Expo has been a con that I wish I could attend, but due to it being on the other side of the country, I can't, athough, if the AMV Contest is any indication, I'll at least be there in spirit.

I'd go to the event if I didn't have to pay extra for it. And with the number of guest coming that I really want to see, I can already foretell me having problems with overlap, so it's probably a good thing I can already cross one thing off my list.
