Seems like they're not planning to bring back the forums. Still looking for people to split a hotel with, if anyone's going this year.

They always announce people super late, this year seems to be no exception. They always start with dub guests too, which I personally have little to no interest in. I'm more thinking about general costs atm.

Anime Expo to Stay in Los Angeles for 5 More Years:

"The Los Angeles Convention Center announced on Tuesday that it will host Anime
Expo for the next five years (through 2019). The partnership was solidified through
an agreement between the manager of the convention center, AEG Facilities, and
The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, which organizes Anime Expo.

The 24th Anime Expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July
2-5. The convention is considered the largest anime convention in North America and
is projected to reach record attendance numbers this year with an expected
100,000 unique attendees."

Got myself a hotel to stay at!

The autograph plan looks horrendous this year though, it's virtually impossible to go for two in one day. >.<

I've decided to sit Anime Expo out this time. The line-up this year just doesn't look that impressive. There are a few panels that I'd like to see but none that would justify flying across the country and spending $1000+ on a hotel room.

I think I've reached that point where cons just don't hold the same allure they once did

Will be going on Saturday since I live like an hour 30 away by driving. Only really excited to see Ryukishi07 and Isuna Hasekura so I can ask about VN and LN industry.

Other than that, gotta buy some figurines I guess

Anime Expo: New Record Set With 90,500 Unique Attendees:

"Anime Expo's official website reported on Monday that it had more than 90,500
unique attendees at this year's event, up 12% from 2014 and setting a new
attendance record for the convention.

In addition, it reported a turnstile attendance of 260,700, up 18% from 2014."

I guess they didn't reach the 100,000 mark this year after all. Oh well, there's
always 2016.

The Matsuri event announced yesterday is awesome. It even got a couple of my friends set on going. Anyone else going this year?

When Kawamori was announced and the Tetsuya Kakihara, I didn't think this year could get any better for me, but then they announced Junichi Suwabe and my head just about blew up. So who's going this year?

I'm headed there this year as well.

Actually, this is going to be my first con. Any recommendations as to when I should arrive? I'm going on a middle day, but I heard the lines to pick up the badges are atrocious. If the con opens at 10am, what's the best time to line up for the badges?

Badge pickup for days 1-4 starts at 7am. I can't really speak on how the lines are for day of badge pickup because I always get my badge on Day 0, and last year it was amazing. Apparently they finally overhauled their ticketing system, and when I showed up at 5pm Day 0, there was no line, which confused the heck out of me at first. I was expecting a several hours wait, instead I was out in five minutes tops. If the system works just as well this year, then I can see badge pickup no matter what day you come on not being to much of a problem. Still I'd recommend coming early. If you want to try and get an autography, then definitely show up early. Autograph lines are ticketed, and you have to pick up your ticket between 8 and 12, but there's only 75 priority and 50 stand by tickets given out for each autograph session, and once they're gone that's it. You will not be allowed into the autograph area without a ticket.

Every year, Anime Expo has been a con that I wish I could attend, but due to it being on the other side of the country, I can't, athough, if the AMV Contest is any indication, I'll at least be there in spirit.

Makoto Shinkai announced today, along with the world premiere of his new film. That's pretty big.

This year just keeps getting better and better, but this is the 25th anniversary so I guess AX is trying to go all out. Anyway time to go on a Makoto Shinkai binge.

There are also rumors that OPM S2 is going to be announced with Natsume and Fukukawa both attending - we'll see. You know it's going to happen sooner or later.

I'd go to the event if I didn't have to pay extra for it. And with the number of guest coming that I really want to see, I can already foretell me having problems with overlap, so it's probably a good thing I can already cross one thing off my list.
