Well there are some girls that are able appreciate inner beauty, you know.

Anyway it's not like romance of any kind is confirmed yet, but there is enough of potential targets... And princess already got over her Tsun phase.

I seriously can't understand how a Japanese high schooler resurrected as an AI would be any good. Especially one described as an 'everyday high school student'. Definitely not how it could be considered advanced...

It's about personality, not intelligence. I very doubt he could calculate several hundreds of trajectories and run slalom between enemy fleets, when he was still alive. These things come to him pretty much naturally now, because all these subroutines, military protocols and everything else computers use to do it's job.

But yeah for now it's unclear why anyone would want upload human personality into computer and especially why someone like him., though it seems it will be explained eventually.

^ I would expect (without reading the novel) it to be the usual "soul" thing (though it is more of fantasy than sci-fi).
As for purely logical reasoning. You might want a human personality with memories as a means of giving the ship its own will (to mitigate the power of the ship's captain if the ship was too advanced form of technology) and also to mitigate risk of AI revolution as the human might have some aversion to committing genocide of whole humanity or things like that.
Also if there is for whatever reason a need to give the ship a will (the philosophical rule, that systems complex enough gain its own will on its own for example) it might be safer and easier to work with human mind as a base rather than risk whatever mind it might create for itself.

NOnly 53 short chapters and it's still not enough for translation to stick with it...

I am grateful for people who volunteer to translate interesting novels, but I would still prefer if they either stick with it to the end or never started in first place. Not that they always have choice, but still...

Spoiler for : you have TL content..... flee back to the empire through enemy territory. Ajax is damaged and no longer able to continue, so abandon ship and transfer a copy of the highschool MC. decides to hack the other abandoned ships but gets counter hacked by a female AI. etc etc etc..... he gets her help to save Sohaira. truth revealed that he's an AI from Ajax's simulation..... and the trope of a simulation inside a simulation repeat. ends with him returning back to simulation and then his split that was put inside a toy comes to get him to save the Sohaira once again. the hacking and ship battles........
