Ep.1
So, I have never watched Z/X: Ignition before but decided to check this out since it seems to be some kind off a spin-off with a lighter tone. I think it's ok for an anime from card game(?). The story so far is nothing new but that is not something to hate for. Girls are cute BTW.

I enjoyed the 1st episode, I like how there is some serious action to end with, makes the start of next episode rather exciting to see what happens next.
I like Fujima's art being in the ending, always like his Nanoha work.

Ah yes, the classic setup. Need to save the world from an alien force set to destroy it. So of course this final line of defense is a school and a girls-only school to be really specific. Technically of course there are male students they were just banished to the island of "you no longer exist." Because there's no chance they put all these tents on a deserted island and still built a darn device to send them into space to fight. I think you could just expand the potential individuals at play here and still keep the focus on the main girls. This seems like an incredibly lazy and haphazard plan to stop the apocalypse.
Although maybe it is fine since the show has more of a tone of a silly sports series. You've got; ranking teams that are all necessary to fight to save multiple dimensions of worlds, the teacher/coach to whip the problem students into shape and all male students are banished a stupid island in tents... If it was simply a silly school battle series with no stakes it might work better. I'm not even going to ask why the humans are being worked to the bone in brutal cliche training. What they need is teamwork between their various Z/X partners. I suppose brutally treating a group of people so they unite is a tactic.

Well having a put together team who work together once and not that good to facing to student council not really surprised they got a rank E
So the boys are living in tents on a snowy island

finally, a more watchable episode. Glad I did not drop this. so the school is hiring Class E as extras in case some of the better students drop out or get injured? oni sensei Ira is best sensei, I had a good laugh when she woke them up 5 am in the morning to begin the torture... err.. I mean training.

considering that Azumi is a very sick person before all this happened, only natural she would collapse with that kind of hell training. hmm, so being in the right position helps a lot in combat and also character development for Rigel and Azumi. looking forward to next week.
