KyoAni is a non-starter. They only adapt material they own these days, and they'd be a terrible fit anyway.
The old Brain's Base would be a natural, so maybe Shuka - but I have no idea what their production capacity is like. I could definitely see J.C. Staff or A-1 as a safe, default choice. But Production I.G. could also do great work here, if they so chose.

I'd be horrified if Kyoto Animation gets this. I think Brains Base is the best bet, I have noticed they seem to do sort of anime with an introvert main character well and dramas without heavy-handed approach.
Or maybe Satelight could give it a chance. I know they usually work in sci-fi themes but they also do teenage stories reasonably well.

I'll be more than happy with a film as well as long as it's just kept to the pilot/opening chapters. Many will probably disagree with me when I say this but I think that even though the rest of the manga was good, I don't think it reached the same heights as the pilot.
