Now this is interesting.
ANN: Crunchyroll announced at its panel at Otakon on Friday that it will stream all seventy episodes of the Card Captor Sakura anime beginning on Tuesday, August 12 at 9 p.m. EDT. The service will also stream both the dubbed and subtitled versions of the series. Ah. US and Canada only. Typical. Last edited by Dop; 2014-08-08 at 17:08. |

I'd assume Animax, if only because, quality of the dub aside, it's less edited than the Nelvana version from my understanding .
Still, Crunchyroll getting the series is pretty cool and I'm really happy people can now watch Cardcaptor Sakura subbed legally . Too bad for those outside the US and Canada though .

Just watched a few minutes of the dub on Crunchyroll. Sakura's voice was... unexpected, to put it lightly. Having only watched the Nelvana dub, it was really weird hearing her with such a high-pitched voice. Switched over to the sub for comparison; it a lot made more sense. They must have been trying to find a similar voice to the Japanese version. The end result didn't really work out, granted, I didn't go past the four minute mark (for either version). Will most likely stick with the subs when watching.
(Also, found the Nelvana dub on youtube right after that for comparison, and wow, those translations! They really did butcher it didn't they? I kind of want to find my dvd of the movie and compare it with a sub version to see if Nelvana did the same there too. ) |
