Thus far I've remained pretty neutral on Majestic Prince. I haven't found it particularly bad, nor really amazingly good. As the series continues though I err more on positives, and mainly because of the dynamics of the characters and their somewhat proper growth. The only thing that really bothers me is that it's mainly the one character who is becoming stronger, but I hold out hope that the growth will be more universal. If that kid doesn't get his stomach issues fixed soon though, I'm going to become increasingly impatient with him.

I find it quite suspicious that every time they're informed that they will experience little resistance, that it turns out the aliens are there in droves. My eye is on Cmdr. Simon. That guy seems a little too shifty for me. Plus he's in league with the alien girl Theoria.

I just marathoned all the episodes and I have to say I'm really positively surprised.
The characters and humour are all great. It has a lot of heart in it - perhaps it's the naiveness/innocence of it all but I don't really care much. Tokusatsu/Sentai FTW. I find it very appealing on the production side, too. Promo art in magazines all looked terrible but the way it's adapted for TV with all the 'plumpness', warm colors and shading it really feels RIGHT, very stylish even. CGI work also looks superior to the other two mecha shows of the season to me. A++ space opera music as well. tldr: I'm glad it's longer than one cour. You know, up until episode 5 I thought it would just be a running joke but after #5 I'm wondering if it doesn't turn out to be something serious. Last edited by Horse; 2013-05-03 at 04:26. |

Plot is so-so at this point. Not too developed yet. Highly character-centric. Character interaction and development is great. Any action is icing on the cake for me.
This show is a watcher for me. |

Okay so the Dobermans survive. That would mean that they will live for half a season, and then die in a blaze of glory while saving the young ones and leaving a word of encouragement for them.

That's is why its fun to be betting against their survival right to the end of the series. Like the black guy who didn't die in Deep Blue Sea in spite of him repeatedly lampshading how the black guy is the first to die in movies like that.

Deep Blue Sea's ending is really unexpected. Beside the black dude survived in the end, the female lead became a shark-bait and then a shark food .

I noticed just as when Izuru gains point from Kei he eventually get demerits.
Izuru agreed with Ataru's second hand kiss via Rin's lolipop. Minus points. Izuru eats Kei's cakes and likes them. Plus points. Izuru shows his waifu to Kei. Minus points. Izuru saves Kei and tells her to go first as he'll be back. Plus points. Izuru shows porn to Kei and Tamaki with a girl that looks like Rin. Minus points. Izuru watched the whole thing. Extra Minus Points! Kei may not be needy as Tamaki but maybe she wants Izuru to notice her not Rin, not his Waifu, not a Rin look-alike porn star. |

Wasn't there an interview with the producer or something who said this series will not turn depressing despite there are strong decencies to raise death flags for everyone? Something about this anime is trying to be a "different kind" of mech genre.
Then again, I suppose betting against their survival rate can be fun for a little bit, but this series has more or less settled to be more of a somewhat relaxing series for me (after glancing at that interview), so I really hope the script doesn't do a 180. I have nothing against series like Attack on Titan or Muv Luv, but one of those is enough for any given season. With that said, Yoshida is actually doing quite alright so far. Most of the times her script just completely turn me off or just hit all the right spots. Glad the latter is true this time around. |
