As many people probably suspected, myself included, Otose still lives to fight another day after all. At first I was a little annoyed at it, cause it came off as Sorachi simply not having the balls to off a recurring and relatively important character, but after Jirocho's reason for holding back was revealed, it did make sense and fit his character well enough, so I don't really mind.

Speaking of which, the scene with Pirako talking about the parallels between Gintoki and Jirochi was pretty awesome and makes me really hyped for their eventual rematch.

Props to Daisuke Sakaguchi for his performance in this episode. I usually find his Shinpachi screams kinda grating, but here his speech was really heartfelt and moving. I still can't buy the character as a serious fighter though, it's obvious his "power level" is way below not only Gintoki's, but also Kagura's.

well Shinpachi is just a normal human and can never compare against Kagura. Still he should be somewhat good with his sword.

And do you remember the episode where Shinpachi wanted to be trained and get a power up? It's certain that he's stronger now than he was before.

Things sure are heating up. Really like the clash between Otose's fraction and the other 3 Devas's fractions at the end.

And I can't wait for the other characters; Otae, hard-boiled detective, etc, to make their debuts after this episode.

Lol at Pirako gluing her hair back on

Now that light has been shed on Jirocho's background, he's starting to appear as a sympathetic character. As Pirako explained, him and Gintoki are very similar. His daughter, on the other hand, remains a crazy bitch. Talk about having daddy issues...

The Yorozuya scenes were very touching. Gintoki was about to do more or less the same mistake Otose did. Thankfully, Kagura and Shinpachi managed to convince him to let them fight by his side.

I can't wait for the next episode. We're going to see Gintoki fight with real weapons for the first time since... the benizakura arc? This will be bloody.

Awesome, awesome episode.

So Otose isn't dead yet... I'm expecting her to survive or maybe die like Okita's sister at the end of the arc.

But this was a moving episode. The stakes feel so high in this arc, we've never had events of this scale happen before - the Otose family is fighting for everything they've come to have in the Kabuki district, while caught right in the middle of a large-scale war between the four powers. I really liked the montage of old familiar characters and their reactions to the events; I'm also excited to see them make an appearance in the battle!

Speaking of the battle... this is going to be epic bloody carnage. I can't even express how excited I am for next week's episode! This arc is fantastic so far! Jirochou is a great sympathetic villain, I like how he has such a deep connection with Otose, and Pirako is another excellent antagonist. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Actually, he's not that weak. He's alot stronger than any average person if he's serious.

I would really like to see all the people Gintoki has helped all this time to help him now. At the very least Shinsengumi should help considering how many times Gintoki has saved them. There is no way Yorozuya can take all those people alone.

Music placement yet again shines in this weeks episode. It was absolutely perfect from start until finish.

Animation budget will hopefully be movie quality again for next weeks episode.

I had completely forgotten about the Shinsengumi. You would think that they would have already been trying to deal with all of this gang stuff going on.

^ That's true... I kind of wish they'd show up too. They would, right? As mentioned above, they're the police, they should sort of notice that weird things are happening in Kaukichou... I really wouldn't mind epic Okita/Hijikata action either.

This isn't the first time a major arc has happened, and a certain character hasn't appeared when you thought they would because of the content of the story. It's best to just not worry about it, and enjoy the arc without them.

Really? I wasn't too happy with the music placement.. Well, with the epic bgm which was played during Gin x Jiroichi and now was used in that last scene where Gin just blasted few enemies through the door, I feel that they could, and should have used something else there and not that particular bgm.

Other than that, pretty good episode I guess although I do agree with Gin and that he should have gone alone. Taking Kagura with you is fine, since she's actually really strong, but Shinpachi.. Are you serious? He's actually quite a noob and doesn't stand a chance. Though perhaps they will be the triggers for the '' White Demon '' to appear once more should they get seriously hurt.

It would be best not to underestimate Shinpachi. Remember how in the benizakura arc how he saved Gintoki by jumping in and slicing off Nizou's arm?

If Shinpachi is injured, a certain 2nd strongest woman (IMO) in Kabuki-chou will go raging.
And if that particular woman is injured, a certain gorilla and his squad will go rampaging...


So sure, why not bring Shinpachi...
