Shakugan no Shana- (and the second season starts in october)
Zero no Tsukaima- (second season starts in july) Steel Angel Kurumi Karin- not much action but still it's about vampires Rahxephon- like Eureka 7 about mecha's and such with alien species etc... Dn Angel Stellvia of the Universe Demonbane Busou Renkin- sorta like Elemental Gelade Ghost Hunt- not a whole lot of love Vanguard Beet the Vandel Buster- again not a whole lot of love but it's good and it's evident the love is there and maybe a 3rd season coming. |

Saiunkoku Monogatari (linky in sig) has all these elements, though the fantasy element is less prominent. Seirei no Moribito (sig) is strong in the fantasy and action dimensions, weaker in the love category, though I suspect that might change as we approach the later episodes. I wouldn't have thought Claymore would qualify in the romance department, but having recently watched episode 12 I'm now not so sure.

I've been watching a couple of 2003 series that may qualify - Scrapped Princess and Last Exile.
Action and story are strong, though the romance is somewhat lacking - considering that the strongest romance relationships are siscon (Scrapped Princess) and lolicon (Last Exile). |

Well Elfen Lied has an excellent story, decent romance, and some arguable action, but there's also some (by some I mean many) violence and nudity. If you could sit through the first ten minutes of the first episode, then that's the longest amount of violence you'll see for the entire show.
Eureka Seven is a series I'm currently watching that so far has been a good mix of romance and action. I'm only 2/3 through, so I can't promise you a good ending and such, but it's excellent by far. Other than that there isn't much romance/action that I consider to be above average. Kaze no Stigma is alright, although it's more a mix of everything and not that much romance (yet).

I suggest Shakugan No Shana if you want action, comedy and good story. It'll really break your normal opinion of the world, setting you in some kind of pseudo-paradigm stuff.
Another great action with a great story is Kaze No Stigma, but the series is still ongoing. Lastly, try Fate Stay/Night. It's currently my favorite among all action animes. |
