I've updated my characters/seiyuus page with several new characters who have shown up on the official site's character page. Most of them appear in ep4. See link in my sig.

This is one of those shows with a large and growing cast. I will try to keep up, lol.

While I do believe all opinions are valid but at the same time you criticized the series for not having things it is not meant to have so I left it alone and thought well maybe it isn't for you. It is mainly the older viewers in most cases doing the complaining ^^,

I've been watching anime for a very long time and last exile was for me ages ago that I can't remember. I do see many people or old fans here not having much issue with the current technology, use in the series. Why does it actually bother you if you’ve seen the first series? Care to point something out comparatively between both season or are you just unsatisfied with last Exile not been a interpretation of WWII?

in the end you have a right to not like what is presented.. but it is a sequel and I firmly believe everything is right with regards to technology anyway.

Hopefully it does well enough and Funi perceives enough internet buzz that they will consider the extra expense of bringing in some of the original VAs. Claus' for example if he were to return I think is one they could actually get as they've worked with Bosch a few times now and recently. The good thing is that the others are at least theoretically possible as they all are still highly active even after so many years since the first show so at least there's a small chance at least a few of them would at least be possible if Funi thinks the BD/DVDs will sell enough. Wahlgren's ofcourse still very active and just did Durarara and I'd hope they'd get Michelle Ruff back as her two characters are set to play pretty big roles considering they are both in the OP as well as Dio's since Joshua Seth would be hard replace as his Dio was awesome.

I guess realistically it'll be a compromise with a few back if they can come to an agreement with some of the old VAs. I'm also happy knowing in advance that the show will indeed be getting one since Funi's got it and I've liked most of their dubs. I expect I'll be watching this show several times heh.

Finally saw the Animax simulcast

Spoiler for ep4:

Well the episodes starts with Fam guessing with Dio, Millia and Gizey on what type of ship the Silvius is. Thanks to clues by Dio and Gizey doing some research, they conclude the Silvius is some air carrier used for scouting and hit and run tactics.

We get see Millia wear the Gizey's clothes which are too tight BTW.lol And during the scene where everyone was having dinner, for some reason, Animax cut off a scene after Dio shove a jar of water into Teddy's mouth. They musta thought that was wine.(In a related Animax note, the subs called Dio a girl!

To be fair, his Japanese VA is a girl but still! That should have seen the dub in Last Exile where Dio was voiced by a man!)

Anyway, after a LesYay moment between Millia and Fam in bed, Fam and Gizey is off to capture the Silvius with Millia and Teddy following Dio. (Which during one scene Dio mentions Lucciola

) At first, the Sky Pirates trick the Silvius into heading to a valley by using paper kites that look like Ades ships from afar but things start to go downhill. Every time Fam and the pirates try anything to stop the Silvius, it doesn't work or fails:

Warn the Silvius to surrender? Tatiana ignores it.

Trap and slow down the ship with balloons? Nope, Silvius is still speeding.

Blind the main bridge windows? Sorry, Sonar officer gives directions.

Deafen the Sonar officer with popping balloons? Tatiana and her Vanships come out and shoot the pirates! Oh S-!

After a wild dog chase with Tatiana and Fam/Gizey, the Sky Pirates get captured by the Silvius vanships. With the Silvius heading to the Grand Lake, Fam tries one more time to steal the ship. Gizey tries to disable the ship's engine by shooting some Claudia EMP only to find out the engines are internal, not external as she first thought. With no other choice, they decide to sneak inside the ship using the tips Dio gave them. Unfortunately, they realize too late that the area they sneak into was in fact a water-lock which reveals the Silvius is also a sub!

After finally waking up, Fam and Gizey gets surrounded by Tatiana, Alister and her men which went something like this; Tatiana will spare them if Fam helps her steal 15 Ades battleships. Fam goes "that's impossible" which Tatiana using Reverse psychology saying "Oh yeah, that's right. Kids can handle heavy responsibilities." which makes Fam angry and she goes "Fine! I'll steal those 15 battleships!"

Anyway it was fun seeing Tatiana and Alister again with the only other crew of the Silvana i saw was Arthur. Love how Tatiana humiliated Fam and i squee upon learning the Silvius is also a sub!

Looks like next episode is about Fam preparing to steal some Ades ships.

New Ship On The Block.

“I do it because you’re my friend.”

It’s a very cliche and thus very common answer. Most of the leads of these types of stories declare their selflessness and altruism through a declaration of friendship. Fam doesn’t actually say it out loud but implies she does it because she wants to do it for Millia. However if there’s anything I’ve learned watching anime all these years, pure unadulterated selflessness is rare, and I find it more plausible to think that Fam’s intentions on doing what is deemed to be impossible does not simply hang on her just wanting to do it for the princess. I’d think that Fam has her own intentions too, something deep and possibly connected to her past. She was too young to remember what had happened to her parents but the idea that it might be connected isn’t implausible.

Revenge or something similarly sinister? I don’t think so. She doesn’t seem to be the type of character to hold such a grudge even if she does know that Ades was responsible for their deaths. Still I think that there is a bigger, deeper reason for acting the way she does. It doesn’t diminish her selfless intentions Millia, but in the end gives her a more personal stake in the war at hand. Whatever this, if such a reason exists, is known only to her at this point. If one does exist, I expect to see it eventually and perhaps as one big climactic revelation.

So just got to see episode 03. We finally get to meet the real leader of the Ades Federation and of course it's a cute little loli empress with all the naivety you'd expect from such a leader. Why a country that calls itself a Federation would have a child empress as a leader and not an elected president is beyond me, but I guess Luscinia being a Prime Minister hinted at the likelihood of a monarchy already. In any case she seems like the perfect figurehead of the kind who Luscinia could take advantage of for her kindness. They're not wiping Turan of the planet after all, they're merely giving the land back to it's previous owners. I can see Augusta getting shuffled to the war front at some point, hooking up with Fam and co. and seeing all the stuff that's going on and going back to confront Luscinia with it at some point, but that's probably a story arc for a little bit further down the line.

As for the second half of the episode...arguably even better.

We get to learn a LOT more about what the whole deal with the sky pirates is, from Fam's adoption into Giselle's family (and her dad's awesomeness) to Millia's realization at the sight of the Turanian capital ship getting chopped up that her life as she knew it was over, but that she has someone in Fam who understands what she's going through and sincerely regrets not being able to save Millia's sister and country. Giselle is coming along a little slowly too in forming her bond with Teddy who also lives mostly in someone else's shadow. I wonder if them being separated from their initial pairings for a bit will help them to further grow as characters.

The funeral scene at the end was really well done as well as was the music used during it and even throughout the episode. They really don't do a lot of shows with a feel like this anymore so I'm really enjoying the atmosphere of this right now like nobody can believe. It's again just always so refreshing whenever I get to see a well realized foreign setting (no schools or Tokyo prefectures in sight) with interesting characters, interesting factions and goals for those factions, and a sort of sincerity to it all that isn't jeopardized by any sort of oversight or weak writing. Hope this keeps up cause this episode approached 10/10 caliber and with a classic race arc and a heist coming up I expect things to only get more interesting from here.

Yeah it was really fun seeing them again and I had the same smile on my face reaction at the surprise of the Silvius, also Dio's actions throughout the ep and sneaking things into his dialogue,

Totally agree with this.
Also, this was one of the reasons why I was so excited for this show to air.

The conversations were the highlight for episode three's, because I truly enjoyed learning about both Giselle and Fam's ordinary lives besides being Sky Pirates, but to me the most memorable was the talk about the Grand Race.

This shows not only conveys a good mix of adventure with relationships, as well as an arena of tense politics, but throws into the mix events speak beautifully about people's desire to unite for a common get together at happiness.

The Grand Race, just like the Olympics in our world, became an important event of gathering and meetings. People coming from all over the world to watch the spectacles together and harvesting good relationships. But the war ended such a short-lived dream.

Yeah, I loved all the character and world details they portrayed in this ep, and how it made the setting and characters/people/factions/sky pirate customs come alive.

Wow Gisey is awesome at recreating the ship with just that blurry photo. Lol Millia and Fam shared the bed. Yay we meet Tatiana and Alis again! That red vanship was great to see again. Like how Dio got mad and remembered that it was Lusiola's seat. Thought it was strange that Tatiana didn't say anything to Dio while in the air. So instead of capturing the Silvius Fam got captured instead. That's a lofty goal she has to get.

So we can say that the original's Exile has been there at least 2 years, and Dio is probably working (sort of) with the crew because they didn't try and shoot him down at the end. 2. Fam is clearly good, but not THAT good. If Tatiana can whoop her ass in the that well, then imagine how good Claus and Dio really are at this point. 3. Lol at yuri goggles. Also, the Birthday song... Dio bringing in a picture of the Silvius- the theories of him being an agent of it are getting clearer. The other guys doing graveyard with the Silvius... Fritz, watch out. Well the Silvius must have noticed them already by this point. Giselle able to draft a rough sketch of the Silvius from just one photograph is rather amazing, people would probably love to get her/pay her highly for her capabilities. This also somewhat reinforces my theory about the Silvius' capabilities/mission. Also, that diary she has must contain a lot of ship pictures and sketches and thus a very important tool. Accommodations are scarce at the moment, so bear with it Millia. Dio still remembers his friend, and honors it somewhat by disallowing people to touch the throttle- and i just noted that Dio's vanship is probably a half-breed between Anatorian and Earth designs. Millia may never get the hang of flying at this rate. Like in Prester, there are vanship/vespa waypoints all over the place, though the one the Pirates stop on is just a platform. The Silvius Capture Plan definitely has the Fam seal of approval on it. But then... - Dragging the Silvius with Balloons: failed because the ship is still fast enough. - Blotting out the Portholes: failed because of the Superior Alliance Acoustic Navigation System, and Cecily. - Noisemaker Balloons: probably the only effective part of the plan. Silvius Crew Reactions... - Tatiana: so this is it? herp derp, i'll put this down quickly before i get bored to death. - Allister: well... i guess the crew fears her. - Cecily: she rocks to the audio feed too much. Tatiana toying with Fam- i would guess that Fam is rather surprised that a very big (compared to hers) vanship can keep up with her- and also managed to hook her vespa that quickly. Dio, Dio, Dio... Yup he's in this scheme both ways. I called it! In Soviet Anatoray, Ship Steals *YOU!* as well as your buddies and exiled princess. Giselle's attempt to disable the Claudia Lift Unit (CLU) failed, followed by heeding Dio's words... a bit too much. Silvius having a Submersible Mode... she now reminds me of Gundam Seed (Destiny)'s Archangel. Battleship+Aircraft Carrier+Submarine = Silvius. Wakey Wakey Fam Fan Fan... you are now an unofficial crew member of the Silvius! Tatiana issuing a 10-star challenge to Fam- this indicates that Tatiana has indeed plans either to ally with Turan or quickly expand the military might of the Alliance in preparation for an impending Adesian attack. More details when possible.

She doesn’t seem to be the type of character to hold such a grudge even if she does know that Ades was responsible for their deaths. Still I think that there is a bigger, deeper reason for acting the way she does. It doesn’t diminish her selfless intentions Millia, but in the end gives her a more personal stake in the war at hand. Whatever this, if such a reason exists, is known only to her at this point. We finally get to meet the real leader of the Ades Federation and of course it's a cute little loli empress with all the naivety you'd expect from such a leader. Why a country that calls itself a Federation would have a child empress as a leader and not an elected president is beyond me, but I guess Luscinia being a Prime Minister hinted at the likelihood of a monarchy already. In any case she seems like the perfect figurehead of the kind who Luscinia could take advantage of for her kindness. They're not wiping Turan of the planet after all, they're merely giving the land back to it's previous owners. I can see Augusta getting shuffled to the war front at some point, hooking up with Fam and co. and seeing all the stuff that's going on and going back to confront Luscinia with it at some point, but that's probably a story arc for a little bit further down the line. As for the second half of the episode...arguably even better. We get to learn a LOT more about what the whole deal with the sky pirates is, from Fam's adoption into Giselle's family (and her dad's awesomeness) to Millia's realization at the sight of the Turanian capital ship getting chopped up that her life as she knew it was over, but that she has someone in Fam who understands what she's going through and sincerely regrets not being able to save Millia's sister and country. Giselle is coming along a little slowly too in forming her bond with Teddy who also lives mostly in someone else's shadow. I wonder if them being separated from their initial pairings for a bit will help them to further grow as characters. The funeral scene at the end was really well done as well as was the music used during it and even throughout the episode. They really don't do a lot of shows with a feel like this anymore so I'm really enjoying the atmosphere of this right now like nobody can believe. It's again just always so refreshing whenever I get to see a well realized foreign setting (no schools or Tokyo prefectures in sight) with interesting characters, interesting factions and goals for those factions, and a sort of sincerity to it all that isn't jeopardized by any sort of oversight or weak writing. Hope this keeps up cause this episode approached 10/10 caliber and with a classic race arc and a heist coming up I expect things to only get more interesting from here.

On-Topic The conversations were the highlight for episode three's, because I truly enjoyed learning about both Giselle and Fam's ordinary lives besides being Sky Pirates, but to me the most memorable was the talk about the Grand Race. This shows not only conveys a good mix of adventure with relationships, as well as an arena of tense politics, but throws into the mix events speak beautifully about people's desire to unite for a common get together at happiness. The Grand Race, just like the Olympics in our world, became an important event of gathering and meetings. People coming from all over the world to watch the spectacles together and harvesting good relationships. But the war ended such a short-lived dream.

Yay we meet Tatiana and Alis again! That red vanship was great to see again. Like how Dio got mad and remembered that it was Lusiola's seat. Thought it was strange that Tatiana didn't say anything to Dio while in the air. So instead of capturing the Silvius Fam got captured instead. Spoiler for ep4 quotes: Tatiana telling Fam she barely get a passing mark for her flying skill and being unimpressed by the "Skyfish hunt". Dio: See, she's having so much fun. I don't think he was talking about Fam. Now, I just want Fam and friends to learn that Dio knows Tatiana.
