And I was frankly afraid the designs would be far worse, so I'll withhold judgement until I see an ep or two.

When I first watched the CMs, I thought the animation screams CGI until I rewatched it. I might be happy that it is not the case, but the art just hurts to look at and I feel like they incorporated a bit of CGI into the hand-drawn characters. Ambiguous things are so ambiguous in this anime.

And this is a PV from the same studio (feel), and also a VN adaptation:
And that was from 2010 Its 2010+4 now! What happens? What kind of circumstances made this much of quality drop? And here I thought I'll get a generic art/animation works a slightly less than JC Staff. But, what is this? 2005? They even went so far as to whip CG overlay, and from PV alone we already have so much QUALITY. Did they only have 5 people to work on animation or something? Seriously, why>???? Don't tell me this is some kind of viral marketing scheme to boost up VN popularity (Or Satomi Satou's album in some cases) with as little budget as possible? EDIT: watched several times. Its not CG alright, but it still amazing how they screw up over the original design to that degree. Last edited by all_flying; 2014-09-20 at 03:03. |

Yup, the animation isn't the worst, but it certainly doesn't meet nowadays' standards. It's just hilarious and miserable when you try to compare both Fortune Arterial's animation with this one, like there's a world of difference. Hopefully Kingrecords goes into bankruptcy and we won't have to see any more of this disgrace

Don't say like that, King Records (as a licensing company and not an animation studio) may be responsible for producing some series with animation similarly as cringeworthy like Aku no Hana or Knights of Sidonia but they are also involved in a lot of good shows with passable animation like Symphogear, Miss Monochrome and K, among a few others.

Misaki Kurehito and Kuroya Shinobu, aside from knowing and being able to draw human anatomy realistically (and aesthetically) from any angle, are masters of shading. These character designs are so flat compared to the original. Why couldn't they be hired as "artistic advisors" or the like? Surely they have to draw out things like "shading diagrams" once the basic lineart is completed showing just where the shading has to go before putting in the colour, something that could be transferred to the actual animation cels/files. This anime adaptation doesn't look like it's being made with a decent budget either, as the comparison with Fortune Arterial's visuals have shown. It's even more confusing when you remember that this animation studio, feel., had a blockbuster in the form of the anime adaptation of Yosuga no Sora not too long ago. Or is the money they earned from that series not being put towards this new one? |

sasuga feels. btw it's amazing that hand drawn can be looks like a CG. well it ruined the beautiful vn art though, and I heard the story kinda....not amazing. So most of people stayed with the VN just to see beautiful art. But, what about the anime ? (not so) good story + cg's like hand drawn. I wonder if I can stay for 5 weeks. |
