He didn't say such a thing. Besides, the organizers of Saimoe can probably detect if an abnormally high number of votes is coming from a certain cluster of IP addresses.

This match is actually balanced, given that all three had similar numbers in the preliminaries/first round. However, there are some things that need to be taken into consideration. Rika is the reigning champion and probably the current favorite to win this match, which gives her an extra boost against the other two. But on the other hand, an upset is very likely if she still keeps her low vote turnout. Strategic voting should be expected, though not to the extent of being a problem if Rika’s opponents gather a similar amount of votes.

I’m going with Kiri for my prediction because I believe an upset is going to happen very soon, at least in this block.

My vote : Haruka

Haruka is one awesome sister I wish to have.

round 1 has ended, and the girls are down to 96 standing. 63-21 in predictions last round (.750 average, missed predicting group E) and 30 out of my 45 picks for the round made it through, so 2 out of 3. not so bad, but losing Maria, Alicia and Alice this early hurts.

so round 2 begins today, and there are really exciting matches at this point. they will be tough to predict, so i expect my already mediocre prediction percentage to sink a bit further. and surely some of the characters that i am cheering for will get knocked out, as they are against heavyweights, and some of those that i like are even against each other which leads to absolute despair.

Predictions and Picks for Round 2:

Group A:
Predictions: Rika, Fate, Yami, Hanyuu
Picks: Haruka-neesama, San, Rima Mashiro

poor Rima is going to get crushed, Fate and Rika will have tough challenges against them, but will still win with the help of solid fanbases, and San and SnH's fading mojo should help Yami emerge victorious.

Group B:
Predictions: Coopa, Lion-tan, Mikan, Hiro
Picks: Lion-tan, Mikan, Hiro

first zetsubo match for me would be Mikan vs. Aika. this should be close, and i'd be happy that one would advance, but at the same time sad, because the other won't. Lion-tan will advance easily, and Hiro i think has enough support to overcome Vivio. Coopa vs. Luna vs. Potemayo is an interesting and the match will also be down the wire.

Group C:
Predictions: Vita, Kagami, Kyou, Yuno
Picks: Amu, Kagami, Kyou, Yuno

my second zetsubo match is Sakuya vs. Amu vs. Vita, and more zetsubo will likely ensue since neither my picks Amu or Sakuya will likely advance against the already established veteran Vita. Kyou vs. Louise should be fun, given Louise' acumen for upsets, so i won't be surprised if Kyou crashes out this early. But I'm still predicting Kyou to win. Kagami's match is cakewalk, Yuno will have a tough challenge against the Boss (zetsubo match as well, orz)

Group D:
Predictions: Tomoyo, Konata, Rena, Miyako
Picks: any of the 3, Wilhelmina, Miyako

Fourth zetsubo match, and I like three: Yoshinoya, Tomoyo and Kotomi. Kotomi should advance though, augmented by the awesome Clannad special featuring her. Konata, Miyako and Rena will easily win, but Shizuka Itou support for me with Wilhelmina.


Group E:
Predictions: Shana, Nanoha, Chiaki, Horo (too close to call, though)
Picks: Shana, Chiaki, Horo/Tamaki

Fifth zetsubo match, and the feature match of the round for me is Horo vs. Tamaki. I think they are evenly matched, and an exciting one as well as both rocked their preliminary groups and dominated their first match (though Tamaki's numbers were affected by split votes), and are both newcomers to the contest. The other three matches for this block should be cruise control for Nanoha, Chiaki and Shana.

Group F:
Predictions: Saki, Nagisa, Sora, Hayate
Picks: Athena, Izumi

Poor Athena will have it rough against Nagisa, the Question Fairy can cause an upset against the Hayate faction, and mid-tier characters (popularity-based) from three strong factions will duke it out. That match is the only one that interests me. This group is meh for me.

Group G:
Predictions: Akari, Nanaka, Nagi, Tsukasa
Picks: Akari, Nanaka, Nagi, Tsukasa

Dangerous match for the Hayate faction in the constantly-growing rivalry between Higurashi and Hayate factions. (i.e. Nagi beating Rena, Rika beating Nagi, Rena beating Maria) If the votes were split enough between Nagi and Hamster, Satoko could cause a great upset. But the Kugimiya Rie alliance tilts the scale in favor of Nagi, I think. Akari vs. Sekai should also be interesting, but I know the undine will make it. Tsukasa easily advances, and predicting the Nanaka-Chihiro-Hazuki matchup is hard. Nanaka for me, though.

Group H:
Predictions: Isumi, Suzu, Hinagiku, Tiffania
Picks: Isumi, HINAGIKU

My dear Yaya would have to pave way for Hina, and the Isumi vs. Noe vs. Mei is a bit misleading, because Isumi's numbers were inflated by the Hina-Alice match. Isumi is still my pick to advance, because she also had a great run last year. Hina must win! The other two matches are not interesting for me...

now that I think about it, I wish orange.a did not reveal that he in fact did that (asking 30 people to vote for Rika). i think he should have kept quiet about it. now once again i'm reminded of Nagi's close loss

While I think Rika should win, I'll vote Haruka one last time because I did want to see her as Saimoe champion (actually I wanted a Haruka (Minami-ke) vs. Haruka (Okawari) final)...because it takes someone Amazing to take the top spot from all the loli champions.

Though I doubt Haruka's chances against Fate...or even Fuko. Rika at least has the backing to stand up to Fate.

There's no doubt that Rika is going to get a lot of votes. She got enough votes last year to win Saimoe so somehow I don't think she's going to lose that easily. Also Higurashi series mojo > Minami-ke series.

Though I would like to point out that if we all assume Rika will win and vote Haruka, Rika might not win. Thus if you want Rika to win you should still vote for her...even if Haruka is Amazing.

I've already voted for Haruka, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see Rika win. Rika should still win, but if too many of us don't vote for her the tables could turn....again.

Just keeping that in mind
